  1. Parameters of the question are small 1000 sized spinning reels with carbontex drag washers... What are the pros vs. cons of greased drag washers vs dry drag washers? How are you running yours? oe
  2. I prefer a longer rod for jerkbaits, but I'm using this rod for plastic top water baits and like it for that. If you liked your Carbonlite I don't know why you wouldn't like this shorter Aetos. oe
  3. Yup... shipping is why I was looking for someone closer to home. oe
  4. That might be a 2nd choice, but a great distance from having someone with a little experience handle the job! oe
  5. Here's a real shot in the dark... I'm looking for someone within a reasonable drive of Okoboji, IA who is capable and willing to change the guides on a rod I currently own. The rod action is ideal, the guides stink. Anybody in the vicinity of me? oe
  6. I've never used a sliding weight ahead of my bait... there are many jigheads that can fish the hook point protected (most shakey head jigs) and a weighted swimbait hook will accomplish the same thing. oe
  7. The Fenwick Aetos is worth saving a little more $$$ for... oe
  8. The Winch felt better to me reeling heavier, more resistant baits while my BB1 cast lighter baits better. I haven't fished a Tatula oe.
  9. If you're Texas rigging you must be throwing into cover... I'd want a MH power in a spinning reel. A 6 1/2' fast action would suit me well. oe
  10. Lunker City Swimming Ribster works pretty well for me at a fair price. oe
  11. Top water, jerk baits, light crank baits and light swim jigs play well together, but I'd fish them on a medium power rod with 20lb PE line and fish the spinner baits/ chatter baits on a med. heavy power rod with 30lb PE line. oe
  12. some of the pins are tapered and have a narrow vs. thicker end! If yours is tapered be certain to start it with the narrow end. oe
  13. dark, light or bright... oe
  14. Hair jigs will catch bass anytime of year, however, for much of the warmer months of the year other baits will catch bass as well or better than hair. oe
  15. Z-man worm works pretty well, as does my home-tied bunny strip leach... both quite buoyant. oe
  16. Jig & live bait is to fishing as trapping is to hunting... each to his own. oe
  17. Darren... you are GOOD? I've never been successful when I rigged a spinnerbait on my drop shot... oe
  18. I've been looking at the Pflueger spinning reels as well. The Supreme series will give you an all metal body where as the President series is a carbon body and rotor. The 99.00 Supreme doesn't have a carbon disc drag, but for 10/15 dollars a set of carbon discs can be swapped out. I'm leaning toward the 99.00 Supreme and using the 20.00 rebate to upgrade the drag washers. My .02 worth. oe
  19. Uh... anything else you've recently lost... maybe I've just found it for you... oe
  20. If you're from a small community as I am, a public thank you in the community newspaper is a nice gesture. oe
  21. Thanks for the responses. oe
  22. Didn't think to ask how the Speed Trap cast? oe
  23. Tell me about your success fishing smallmouth with a Luhr-Jensen Speed Trap. Does it come through rock/rip-rap easily? Did you find a preference for either the 1/8oz or 1/4oz? Does it work well at a slow pace? Thanks oe
