  1. I've actually caught 4 on senkos and only one on a crankbait. The senkos are pretty strange for catfish though
  2. 6 pounds 4 ounces 8 pounds 1 ounce my best two this year
  3. Gambler makes some great stuff and are a pretty under rated bait company on a national scale. I highly suggest trying some more out. Here in south florida you'll find them in almost everyone's boat.
  4. When I took my florida boaters lisence course, they suggested to take waves at a 45° angle. I do pretty much that except I'll swing away from the wake at first to get the less intense wake and then cut into them. My boat is not even a close comparison to a Nitro Z-9 so take it with a grain of salt.
  5. Zoom Ol'Monster in black
  6. I'm on the east coast and haven't tried much salt water or inshore out yet, but most guys end up going with spinning gear. Depending on the time of the year and weather people will fish the spill ways, and the beach from shore. Plenty of guys on here should be able to give you more in depth info.
  7. You could always make a stake out pole like a manual power pole almost depending how big your boat is. If you're like me amd have next to no confidence or knowledge fishing deep, then a power pole is a good choice. Keep in mind I'm in florida and natural water here 10 feet is almost none existant.
  8. Jeff, your boat is what made me decide on a jon. Although mine isn't as far along as yours is. I'm going to try putting front and back decks this summer. I already have a foot control Minn Kota that's been unused since I bought the boat.
  9. I believe 00mod also has a tin and his rods have holders that hold them between then back bench and the middle bench. Hopefully he chimes in with a picture.
  10. I currently have velcro straps screwed into the bench seat. One strap secured above the tell the other holds the tips down. I just bought a rod buckle set up that I'm going to try out. I have a housing adapter to put on the front bench by the bow and if I like it will be searching for another.
  11. I agree with the above post it depends on your fishing style. I typically beat the banks and cast at cover in shallow water and some freshwater flats. My fish finder is for the most part used for the GPS, comparing the water depth within an area, water temps, and figuring out what depth seems to be the depth most life is hanging around for that day. I could for sure get away with a typical fish finder but just liked the clarity of the dsi unit. I use my power pile more efficiently than my fish finders.
  12. This my jeep had 8" of lift and was tricky, my friends boat has 4" and wasn't too bad, my new truck is stock and not leveled or lifted yet, and it's even harded. I can't see my trailer until I've already messed up. Guide posts are your friend.
  13. I think he means logical, but yeah if you plan on making a lot of long runs it would be more comfortable. I want to put a steering wheel amd console in my boat, but the steering and throttle cables are pricey. Small consoles can also be a task to find unless you make one yourself. People say it just takes up fishing space which I don't understand personally. I fish up front and my guest fishes on the back bench seat.
  14. The only thing I would look out for on ebay is the guys that buy reels to flip them. Most times these reels have little to no test time on the water and can have some issues most being minor. It still comes down to the seller, and their history.
  15. Pegged weight on either a zoom ultravibe/magnum ultravibe worm. paddle tail swimbait on a weighted hook.
  16. Speaking on braids "abrasion resistance" I use it around bridge pilings and have had fish wrap me around them and never broke off. Most times it doesn't even fray on me . Could just be luck. I feel the 8 strand braids are pretty abrasion resistant, bit not so much the 4 strand braids. To each their own.
  17. I would advice against the transom mount trolling motor. It'll do the job but it's a pain to handle the boat and keep yourself on a spot or off the bank back there. I had that on my jon amd then found a way to mount it to the bow. I'm positive it has caught me more fish and made my days more comfortable and enjoyable. I guess if the shaft is long enough it wouldn't be too bad if you can stand and control it. Just my opinion though do what's best for you and your needs.
  18. Braid will fade it's just part of its characteristics. I have an 8 combo arsenal for all of my fishing and braid is on every single one of them. Life expectancy for braid for me is between one and two years. Sometimes your line can loose strength when it fades but that's just line that's been frayed. If you start breaking off just trim some line off and retie. The only reason I ever have to respool is just from loosing a few inches of line everytime I retie.
  19. There's only about 3 setting those break tabs can be on. all the way in where they won't move closer to the spool anymore is off. One click out is on amd one more click out will uninstall them. My guess is your reel before was magnetic and the centrifugal brakes feel different when casting. Since centrifugal breaks usually start braking earlier you can get away with loosening the spool tension more than you have before.

If it's truly the vintage p70, it's worth a lot of money. 3 1/8" plus brass hardware. To answer your question the vintage p70 is supposed to be a lead one knocker that sounds and acts different. Apparently they have very little movement when twitched but still pop.
  21. I've had issues with both brands. Owned 2 lews and 1 Abu Garcia. I since have moved in and chosen another brand that's been more reliable for me.
  22. I've caught only 5 or 6 fish actually on osbourne. One happened to be an 8 pounder. I can't figure that lake out. I know a ton of peacocks spots in the canals though. Ida I think is better, but have very little experience fishing off shore. Nobody I know has a clue of how to fish it and I'm very inexperienced with it.
  23. I know the exact spot you're talking about. I've given it some pretty good time and IMO our florida bass don't seem to go that deep. I picked off a few with a DT16 in there.
  24. I fish those and red eye shads exclusively as far as lipless baits go. Red eyes shads are louder and have a wider wobble with a shimmy on the fall. The yo-zuri is a little less agressive. They for sure have their place. They do shimmy on the fall but its more subtle and they tangle on occasions. They're heavier also at 5/8 oz and run a tad bit deeper. I think they also perform better in grass.
  25. If buying used I would go for a grizzly. Although just about every company makes a similar boat and your location will probably dictate what can be easily found. Here Tracker's dominate the market since their so easy to find new. The Lowe roughneck is also nice. G3 makes the Eagle models, and alumacraft makes an all weld model. Those will all be pricey new. If you're looking for an electric only set up I would buy used. I own a tracker 1542 and it's an OK boat has plenty of room for 2 people and is pretty stable. It can be found cheaper used, but I paid $2,200 from Bass pro new with a trailer.
