  1. i always shake for a little when i catch a nice fish too, its like an adrenaline rush, its pure excitement for me. youre talking about waiting a day before you can get out, i can understand the excitement there. imagine how i feel when i havent been fishing once since the week of 4th of july. work and other things have just been too busy for me, im dying to get out.
  2. he said pocomoke, not potomac lol
  3. working overtime today and i work in bulk printing and mailing. i handle a lot of paper. today i already got two papercuts under the same fingernail, minor yeah, but still stings pretty bad...
  4. when i bought my first baitcaster earlier this year i mounted it on an old spincast rod i had, it works just fine. aside from the occasional monster backlash(which i blame on me, user error) ive had no problems and its becoming one of my favorite combos. so yes, it will work just fine on a spincast rod. if you dont like it you can always upgrade the rod later. but mine works great and i have no plans to buy another rod. i really dont see a great deal of difference between a spincast rod and baitcast rod, they appear the same to me, though there may be some subtle differences... however, i would not recommend putting a baitcast reel on a spinning rod...
  5. i got a little pflueger trion gx7 spinning reel that has worked flawless for me. just bought it this year...
  6. wow, it really seems that many of you are blatantly wasting line(your prerogative, im just sayin). ive got mono(big game and stren) thats been on reels 3-4 years now and its just fine, i dont break off fish because of "old weak line". i change line when it gets low and/or when its low enough to affect my casting. also occasionally when i just want to try new line i havent used before, or when i decide to change line sizes on a certain reel.
  7. if a person waits for you to leave as opposed to encroaching on the spot while youre there, then i think thats pretty courteous of them...
  8. also, "your spots" may be someone elses "spots" too. could be a spot they found on their own on other outings and were just being courteous enough to wait for you to leave that spot. granted, thats not the point youre making with this thread, but it is a possibility...
  9. its a lefty in the picture too
  10. left for spinning and casting. but its not so much i about which hand im reeling with(even though reeling with the right feels odd) its more about holding the rod in my power/strong hand(right hand in my case)..
  11. wow, you get up really early. what time do you go to bed if you dont mind my asking? certainly looks like you put forth serious effort for each of your daily fishing trips
  12. even if there arent largemouth there, youre bound to have a blast catching some of those stripers
  13. when im catfishing with live bait its a common thing for me. ill get a hit, go to set the hook and get snagged on tree stumps underwater.
  14. if you can afford to throw $20 baits then you can afford atleast an ugly stik to replace the rod with the broken tip...bigger line might help too
  15. probably waiting too long to set the hook. as soon as it dissappears i set the hook on a frog/toad and have had good success since i started doing it that way. i figure it already takes a second or two to react and go through the hookset motion. if im counting to three thats probably like 5 seconds and the fish will have plenty of time to spit the bait. try setting the hook as soon as you see your bait dissappear without counting to 3
  16. rage tails: craws, baby craws, lizards and toads ive been killing ponds this summer with rage tails...
  17. whats the point of braid to braid in the same diameter at that? just curious...
  18. i love fishing with live bait, its very relaxing to me. sit back and listen to some tunes, drink a few beers, and just chill.
  19. shoulda took some nightcrawlers
  20. ive caught plenty of fish that saw me or should have saw me...
  21. ill believe the invisibility factor of fluoro when bluegills stop biting it....
  22. if you just want to catch them and dont care what its on, a live night crawler is a great recommendation. not as much of a challenge, but if youre seeing a lot of cruising fish it could be a blast with a nightcrawler and lightweight rod, id go with an abeerdeen hook and a split shot...
  23. if the bite is slow, my fall back is a nightcrawler on a drop shot with an abeerdeen hook...if nothing else i get some decent bonus fish that way
