  2. looking at the guts on those fish, looks like you got one hell of a fishing hole there, congrats on the new pb...
  3. from the picture that thing looks like it could swallow your head, nice fish
  4. 20 inches but only 3 1/4 pounds? im not sure if thats what you meant, but if it is it sounds like she was slim and has plenty of room to pack on some weight...
  5. i would of tried something like a husky jerk or xrap in the shallower parts, in the deep part maybe a weightless t-rigged worm, drop shot or shakeyhead...
  6. a lot of people blame the overhill less edgy perfomances at the SB halftime show lately on Janet Jacksons nipple and Prince's guitar phallus shadow image or whatever you want to call it. though i have to say, i expect madonna to be much better than last years lame worst halftime show ever black eyed peas show, i seriously cant stand them...
  7. sorry i cant help with your question, but i can add to it. what i would like to know is how to hook a crawfish properly...
  8. i think youre making things too difficult. its just a pan fish set up. for panfish i primarily use a little Pflueger Trion GX-7 spinning reel on a light 5'6" Ugly Stick Lite-Pro. throw some lite line on it and youre good to go...but really it doesnt matter so much, almost any rod and reel works for pan fish
  9. thats one beautiful bass
  10. talking doesnt bother me at all while fishing. i can still watch my line, feel a bite, set a hook, and fight a fish while talking. i often wonder what it is that some of you are concentrating so hard on that you cant talk?
  11. that is absolutely hilarious...
  12. nice fish, that looks like a wonderful place just to relax as well as fish...
  13. when nothing else seems to be working, i can almost always catch atleast one on a texas rigged berkley red shad shakey worm, it seems i typically only pull them out when im having a hard time catching anything...
  14. i agree pretty much. when i go fishing i never find myself worrying about what color my line is or how visible it is underwater. probably wont catch my buying fluorocarbon line anymore for the price it goes for considering ive seen bluegill biting at my line...
  15. i finally tried elastic thread recently and it worked pretty good at keeping the liver on, dont think one flew off on the cast...
  16. i absolutely hate spiders. i also had a friend who got bit on her butt by a brown recluse. and then last year, 3 times i was laying or sitting in my bed watching tv when i noticed a spider on my bed, all 3 spiders got smooshed. another time the year before i was laying in bed about to doze off with the tv still on and caught a glance of something on the edge of my bed that shouldnt have been there. before i could turn my head to see what it was a spider takes of running across my bed 100mph just under my neck as i was starting to sit up and jumps off the other side of the bed into a doorway that lead outside i had blocked off with my bed. i look down and theres a 2 inch around(including legs) spider chilling in a web, he got smooshed too. if there is two things im terrified of getting bit by its spiders and snakes. and just so happens today at work they found a baby king snake by the web press that was wrapped around a piece of some kind of vietnamese cracker eating it. it was captured and released. the web pressman was dissappointed when i told him later he could of used that snake as bait for a nice bass, as he is just getting into fishing this year, though primarily for catfish...
  17. call one and ask, if its not them that tested the water then call the other one...
  18. thats one beautiful fish
  19. look at the belly on that thing, she must've really been loading up on them crappie...
  20. So, I went to Smith Mountain Lake this Thursday afternoon through Sunday. Mostly planned to night fish off the dock with night crawlers and chicken livers for catfish and whatever else bit, and to troll for stripers. no luck with the stripers really, my uncle hooked up with two, one got off right away the other right at the boat. Ended up catching some bluegill, white perch, and caught the first yellow perch i ever caught. Got a few nice 2-3lb channel cats and bullheads as well, which i personally find a blast to catch though im still waiting for that monster cat like i lost at SML maybe 6 years ago when it snapped my line while rolling on top the water. other than tossing a zoom super fluke around for about 20 minutes one day i never really fished for bass with artificial baits all weekend, despite seeing bass jumping on the other side of the cove all day for two straight days. hell, thursday night was horrible, only caught one 5 inch catfish in 4-5 hours of sitting on the dock with 3 rods out lol. friday night i got into the catfish good. and saturday night i had 4 rods out. one with a fat crayfish that found its way into the minnow trap and got no bites sitting out all night. one with chicken liver that caught a couple nice catfish when they could find it in all the grass that went crazy on the bottom of the lake. and two with nightcrawlers on a drop shot to keep them up out of the grass. well, i have mentioned my lucky blue shakespeare tiger spincaster combo before, had one of the drop shots on it with a 3/4oz bass casting sinker and a 2/0 owner baitholder hook baited with a night crawler. its was about 8:30-9 and my rod, which was propped on a bench i use for a rod holder, got a real small bump and thats it, just a small slight tap. then it happened again a minute or so later, im thinking meeeehhhh just a small white perch messing with it, then it happened a third time. im like ok, the white perch/bluegill/yellow perch/baby catfish just yank a few times then let go, but these were just very subtle small taps where the rod bent very little and didnt bounce like it was being yanked by a smaller fish. so i said if i see it one more time im snatching the rod and setting the hook real quick probably into nothing. so i sit there about 2-3 minutes with nothing before that 4th subtle bump. i grabbed the rod and swung hard, the rod loads up and then loads up some more and i start thinking, dang i got a nice fish on here. it was in about 3-4 feet of water where i hooked her and she jumped several times on the way in. i was on a dock and the boat slip was next to me with boat up on the lift. she gets up there and goes for the boat slip and jumps, my line ends up over one of the prop blades of the boat engine and theres a bass hanging there with just her head out of the water, i extend my rod out from the dock over the water and the line falls right off the prop and i cranked her on in and netted her. sorry if this is long winded but im almost done. well, my camera batteries were dead so i called my aunt up in the house and had her rush down and take some pics. maybe it was the initial adrenaline, but at first i was thinking 'this fish might go 6, i think i cracked 5 for sure'. well it was neither of those but it was definitely the biggest largemouth bass i ever caught. dropshotting a nightcrawler and i caught my PB 4 1/2 pound(on a scale) 20 inch bass...
  21. i use chicken livers, night crawlers, shrimp, cut bait and live bluegill. ive hooked them from babies up to an estimated 40lber that broke my line after seeing it roll on the surface of the water on nightcrawlers. livers usually get me a gang of 2-3lb cats, same as shrimp. havent had as much luck with cutbait or live bluegill, but then again i havent fished them much. but im certain they work and will probably bring in bigger kitties than the other baits i mentioned....
  22. caught my PB largemouth bass this weekend at SML. i will be posting a report and pics in the fishing trip section if i have time when i get home tonight... i will say that bass were busting the surface regularly for 3 days in the cove i was fishing in off craddock creek where my uncles lake house is. the main problem was they were primarily on the otherside of the cove lol, and that i was dock bound except the couple times my uncle went out trolling for stripers...
  23. Tony Romo is a known choker when games are on the line, and this isnt just hate from a Redskins fan, its fact, he is constantly blowing games. I hope you seriously dont buy the constant annual unwarranted media hype given to the Cowboys every year, especially by the people from ESPN aka Cowboys Network... also, as a Redskins fan, i enjoy seeing you suffer as a Cowboys fan, especially the Cowpuke fans from VA, DC, and MD who have never even been near Texas...
  24. berkley red shad shakey worms, t-rigged with a 1/8oz weight, 5 or 7 inches will work and like has been mentioned, if youre getting short striked on the spinners, add a trailer hook... also try some lipless crankbaits i also would try some dark green colored lizards dragged slowly along the bottom with pauses in between
