  1. If I'm wanting to hit all three species: Spots, Smallies and LM's I'd probably locate myself around Springfield Missouri or Nashville Tennessee. If you want to add Stripers to the mix along with some decent Walleye, maybe some Big brown trout and rainbows and occasionally a Muskie trip then I'd definitely choose Springfield, Missouri. Decent fishing for just about any of the listed species is available less than 100 miles from Springfield. Trophy size fish too.
  2. Are we talking about dink the BFR forum member or dink the bass?
  3. :-? ?? Never heard of it. What type of boat is this and do you know an approximate age?

They had an incident like that happen over in Illinois within the past year or so. Guy was driving his riding lawn mower down the street drunk.
  5. Try your local Craigslist.
  6. Many years ago I bought a new boat with a new Evinrude on it. The riggers failed to tighten the ignition switch in the throttle box correctly. I launched the boat, hopped in, turned the key and the entire ignition switch turned with the key shorting out to the throttle box case. The box started smoking. I was standing there in the boat, extinguisher in hand waiting for the fire. No fire but it burned up the ignition harness along with blowing a bunch of fuses in the new motor. That was a short fishing trip.
  7. I'm done as in the boat is officially stored and semi-winterized. The IM part means I'm open to sit in the back of someone elses boat who decides to fish all winter.
  8. I'm done unless I get an IM or phone call.
  9. If you ever travel down I-44 through Lebanon Missouri you'll drive right past the Aluminum boat Mecca of the US. Lowes, Landau, G3 and the Tracker Aluminum plants are all right along the highway within a mile or so of one another.
  10. Needemp tows his Lowes 16ft bass boat with a mini van. If he checks in he can give info on any add ons his van might have. It does pretty good towing along with loading and unloading at the ramp.
  11. Tandem trailers are really a necessity on just about any glass rig over 19' long. I've seen 19 1/2 footers sitting on single axle trailers but I wouldn't want to do it. That's a lot of boat back there. The only cons of a tandem are more difficulty in moving the boat around in a driveway or garage, Weight and more maintenance. (hubs bearings, tires, etc.)
  12. There's a sheet of ice on the boat as I type. Looks like I'll be semi-winterizing this weekend. Some other forum members have asked if I want to fish a couple Power plant lakes over the winter so I should have a full plate this winter. Their boats are more suitable for those HP limited lakes than mine anyway.
  13. Broke my foot knee boarding once. Hit a big wake the wrong way, came out of the kneeboard, flipped over frontwards and my foot rapped the board pretty hard coming down. I proceeded to spend the rest of the afternoon on a PWC running around. My foot swelled up like a football. When I got back to the ramp and got off the waverunner I nearly fell over. I had to be helped to the car and then to the hospital. That's about it other than some cuts, scraps and bruises.

Respect is sadly lacking in the younger generation these days. Pathetic really. I'm glad I didn't grow up that way.
  15. It's always been interesting to see the exotics on the auction block at Barrett-Jackson and see just how poorly they do. Amazing that these cars really don't hold their value well in the collectors market. 512's, various boxers and Countach's have gone for a song, literally.
  16. That silver/black back lure in your hand is definitely a Rebel lure but not one I've seen before.
  17. Try doing a search on Missouri boat dealers. In specific, check into the dealers in Steelville, Cuba, Sullivan, St James, Salem, Rolla. A lot of those dealers deal heavily in boats built specifically for river running. They often custom build. Remember, a jet drive is relatively inefficient for translating engine HP into straight power. A 40hp motor will perform at around 1/2 to 2/3 like a normal prop driven 40hp.
  18. I've always heard good things about the slammer series. I have Power Graph V's. Love them. Great reels for the money. I can use them in salt or fresh.

The largest fish I ever had on (didn't get to the boat) approx 9-10lbs was caught on a Chart/Black back Rat-L-trap. Try getting a couple of the floating traps in a Chart/black and the silver/blue back. You can toss those right up on the bank and run them right along cover or across grass growing under the surface. They run real shallow.
  20. I used to own a couple I used for soft plastics. Very sensitive and well made. A little heavy but a good rod otherwise.
  21. Hehehe, you should have been on ebay tonight. I picked up 3 old school pre-rapala wiggle warts, all shallow divers all for under $4 a piece, still have the hard plastic snap open cases. One in chrome with a black back, 1 chrome with a blue back, and one crawfish color. You can get good bargains on Pre-Rapala Wee and Magnum Warts. The demand isn't as great. I just looked over there and there's a V54 Baby Bass Wiggle wart with orange belly at $26 with 1 hour left! Box not included!
  22. I'm not sure they still make it but the Wiggle Wart had a mini-me called the Wee Wart. Same lure only smaller. Ran at that depth range.
  23. Kantors Taxidermy Address: 511 Twin View Dr Villa Ridge MO 63089-2517 Contact Info: Paul Kantor Phone: 636-742-3095 This guy is famous. He does unbelievable work. Speaking of coffee tables!! You should see some of the ones he's done!!!
  24. There won't be any fight. You'll lose immediately. The primary object in a flippin/jig rod is to get the fish out of cover ASAP after you've set the hook. Any second lost in turning that fish puts it at the advantage. That wimpy medium action spinning rod has just put any future battle with any decent sized fish in heavy cover in his court. Buy plenty of jigs, you'll need them.
