Chances of US and Iranian conflict?
Well, from what you said in your last post, the terrorists who attack our soldiers in Iraq apparently aren't the real terrorists, and Osama and his gang are the "real' terrorists. The last I heard, the guys responsible for 9-11, the real reason we were supposed to go over there, have not been caught. In fact, I don't hear a whole lot about Bin Laden and attempts to catch him or kill him these days. I guess we need some new bad guys to keep this mess going over there and divert attention. Hey, let's pick the Iranians. Next year it'll be Syria. Everything that's happening within Iraq was predictable. It was predictable before we ever set foot in that country. The Presidents own commission to study the Iraq situation (those guys GWB now wants to just ignore) predicted whats happening would happen and also gave specific instructions on the best way to handle Iran, which will have to be dealt with. Dropping bombs on things that make you uncomfortable in life isn't a responsible act, it's the act of ignorance and cowardice to face the realities of the world we live in and learn how to live responsibly within it.

Chances of US and Iranian conflict?
Attacking Iran will not stop further terrorists actions from happening. The guy responsible for 9-11 is still running around in the mountains of western Pakistan. Nothing has stopped him up to this point from doing it again. If this country wants to do something useful, it might be sending troops into Pakistan and flushing the real terrorists out. BTW, broad brushing all Muslims by tying them to extremist terrorists is merely showing your ignorance of those people and their religion. For example, there are extremist "Right to lifers" who have and do believe in taking the life of abortion doctors as a means of making their point and pushing their agenda. Anyone that believes that the majority of people who believe in right to life have the same tendencies is poorly misinformed.

Chances of US and Iranian conflict?
Perhaps the first mistake this country made should be taken care of before we go bumbling into another one. BTW, the populace of this country doesn't have the nerve to go into Iran. Iraq was and will continue to be a cake walk compared to trying to take the fight to that country.

It's hard to take any "best reel" poll seriously that doesn't include Zebco as a choice.

bps compared to other rods
I could go out today and buy a new Ford Mustang GT for around $35k and have a helluva sports car. Will it perform like a $120K Porsche 911 Turbo? Of course not. Then again, in what real life driving situation could I ever expect to be able to use the full capacities of the 911 anyway? In fact, unless I was in a racing situation (in which case even the 911 would still have to be modified), the Mustang could just as easily perform as well as the 911 for day to day driving. IMO, once you're spending over $120-140 on a rod, you really start to see a diminished return on the cost. For those on a budget, the increased sensitivity and lighter weight of the high end rods are offset by their fragility and cost. The BPS rods, and the lower price point rods made by other manufacturers are just fine. Listening to some, it's amazing how anyone caught any fish at all just 10, 15 or 20 years ago when rod technology was in the stone age. ;D

Lowe 160W and fumes?
There have been some issues with at least one fiberglass manufacturer and fuel odors in closed compartments with several others. The plastic fuel cells are allowing fuel vapors to weep through. I can't say that's what you're experiencing but certainly a possibility.

Flushmounted TM Pedal?
There are three or four tray manufacturers. I installed one in my boat, I can't believe how nice it is not to have back pain associated with keeping one foot up on a foot pedal. It did Require cutting a hole in the deck. It's possible BPS's tray they sell will fit in the hole or you may have to expand it somewhat.

When should the fish start biting
In my area? Right about the time you hear a "Splash" when the lure hits the water instead of "Clunk"!

Success Formula -- a Subject of Debate
Here's my formula Tie on lures before leaving that I've determined will probably give me my best chance for success due to time of year and potential water temps for that time of year along with probable location of bass for that particular time. I'll have at least a dozen rods pre-rigged. Tow boat to the lake and launch it. Immediately determine if the water conditions are what I deduced, if they are, make way to high percentage spots for that time of year and begin the process of casting to determine whether I was right. If the conditions are different, I'll make adjustments to my lures, locations and presentations. I honestly don't think about percentages of any of the above, in fact, when I'm out fishing I try to avoid thinking about any type of math at all. If all else fails, slop fish.

Which bass boat for $8,500?
For $8500 you can find a lot newer aluminum boat than in a fiberglass. You need to decide all your needs and then begin searching.

Night fishing - Love/Hate
I've had a few outfits go overboard over the years. It sucks. I was teaching my wife to throw a baitcasting rod when we were first going out. We were at a friends pond on the dock. She was using one of my best outfits at the time. All of a sudden the rod just flew out her hand and into the lake on one her casts. I rigged up another rod with a bunch of 5/0 worm hooks in a grapple type looking deal and after numerous casts and dredging, finally caught the rod. She still has that outfit and uses it to this day. Good luck finding it Avid. I'd suggest carrying a marker bouy with you from now on in the event this happens again. You can drop it right where the rod went down and come back later.

lower unit lubricant?
BTW, check walmart, BPS or cabela's, most of them sell a pump assembly with a fitting that screws into the lower drain hole and allows you to pump the new fluid in making it much easier. The cost is usually around $11-13 for the pump, hose and fitting. They make fittings for most of the major brands of OB's.

Looking for Spinnerbait Rod Suggestions
I tend to use spinnerbaits in close in situations in heavier cover. I also tend to roll cast them so a long rod is a hinderance in that aspect. I've always used 6" rods in MHVY action. If you're talking about the ability to toss 1/4 to 3/8 oz baits longer distances than I'd opt for a 6 1/2 footer in a medium action with a faster tip.

Anyone ever register a bank account with paypal?
As stated, never respond to emails about your paypal account. Never leave money in your paypal account. I withdraw immediately. Paypal will withdraw from your bank account instantly on purchases but deposits from PP to your account take up to 4 days....hmmm.... > If you're a seller, Paypal rarely rules in the favor of the seller regardless of how fishy the buyers story sounds. That part of the equation isn't good but I've only had a couple disputes in 2 years of active selling. Other than that I've had no problems in 4 years of having an account.

Buy this rod?
For $25? Yes, that's the previous version of the Extreme rod. If the blank and guides are in great shape the handle can probably be cleaned up. Good price.

If it sat too long it may be a permanent mark unless you try wet sanding. What type of surface is it that the stain is on?

The Reel Debates
[old man voice on] Sonny, many, many years ago when there were only Abu round reels and Daiwa Millionaires, I owned some of both. The Millionaires just didn't hold a candle to the Abu's. They required more maintenance and just didn't operate as nicely as a good 5000, 5000C or a 5500. [/old man voice off] That said, the Team Daiwa reels have always looked good and I'm sure the Viento's and Fuego's are outstanding reels.

spinnerbait wire/tackle storage
I saw this tip on another forum. I've gone with a large 100 cd zippered carry case. Much cheaper than the spinnerbait binders.
