Well, at least I didn't get skunked
I was out yesterday as well and had about the same luck you did with both a Rogue and Husky jerk. Very slow bite and I finally got tired of fighting the wind while trying to work a very slowly jerked Rogue. The bite yesterday was very light.

Bass-Mounting?
I've only had one fish mounted over the years and it was a skin mount many years ago when the Repro's were extremely high. While the mount still looks pretty good for being almost 20 years old it is a dust collector which is hard to clean properly because it's delicate. The Fins have damage to them that wouldn't have happened with a repro, I'd go for a repro today because the prices have pretty much evened out.

Ambassadeur Record Series
I haven't checked what RCN40's are going for new these days but if you keep an eye on Ebay you can pick up a like new, sometimes with box and papers for around $90-100.

89 tracker for the record.
No problem Rob. Your numbers were smacking reality in the face. It's still a pretty quick boat.

Life is far from over up North
I'm not a 1 season person either but......... Snow and ice suck. I'm ready to move further south. I still need the trees to turn in the fall but I want as little white stuff as possible.

Building A Pontoon Boat
You'll have to find a supplier of commercial pvc pipe since there is no real application of piping that size on the consumer side. Try any plumbing supply store, they can at least put you in contact with someone who can sell it to you. As to whether this idea of your will float? Dunno, I suppose so.

Wind direction
Is it true or an old wives tale? Like the cow one. In my 30 + years of bass fishing I've found fishing to be the worst with a wind with an easterly component to it. I'm almost to the point where I won't even bother going out if the wind is going to be blowing from that direction. I've never experienced issues when it was blowing from any other direction. I don't think it really has anything to do with the actual direction of the wind but more a matter of barometric air pressure. Most of the time we get easterlies around here is because a low pressure system is passing way to the south of midwest. For some reason it just turns the fish off.

My favorite time of the day.............
It's my favorite time to be on the water as well. I've caught some of my biggest bass on the edge of night early in the morning.

Dad's Bday, Abu's Revo STX or Shimano Curado??
Another vote for the Revo. I wish I was getting one for Christmas.

Ambassadeur Record Series
I've sold a couple of them on Ebay though I never got to use them when I had them. Both RCN-40's were really nice reels. They had a very nice solid feel to them and were as smooth as silk. I'm betting these babies will last a long time with little failures. Go for it.

What fishing tackle is on your Christmas list?
I'm getting a new rainsuit to replace the old one that got ruined in my storage compartment and a gift card. I have no idea yet what I'll spend the gc on.

Max HP ?
As stated in summary: 1. Check the legality in the state you're in. I've never had waterpatrol officer check my engine against the USCG plate. 2. Check with the Insurance company. 3. If you wanna fish tourneys forget about overpowering. 4. If the engine you're wanting to go with is significantly heavier than the average weight of motors recommended for your boat you will sit stern heavy in the water.

rod holders
I've read more and more posts about guys getting away from the rod holders, like the golf club tubes and going with the sleeves. Our mod here, Fivebasslimit sells some pretty cheap, about half the price of the ones you can buy. I can put the sleeves on my rods and literally cram my rod box full of rods and still be able to reach down to the bottom and pull one out without it entangled with the others. they're a much better deal IMO.

Need advice for this time of year.
Awww. Stick the trolling motor on the thing and get that on the water. Unless you've got a garage to work in you're not going to be able to do much with it till next spring anyway.

recommendations on flipping outfit
You can pick up a nice, nearly new Garcia LP reel, either a 3003 or 3004 Torno or a 2005LP for around $30-40 on ebay. Match that with a BPS Extreme flippin stick, currently on sale for $70 bucks and you've got a nice combo for around $100.

Is this change of life or what?
Just because I bought a new car that I really love doesn't mean I can't or don't look in the showroom windows from time to time and admire the new models.... I just don't take them for test drives anymore.

My Rods..Whats Missing?
It seems like you're pretty covered. If you're into carolina riggin you could make do with one of the mh rods for that purpose. Otherwise I'd suggest a 7' Hvy action rod that could double for c-rigging and flippin. I'm one that still likes to throw pistol grips so I'd have to add a couple for tossing spinnerbaits, topwaters and close in crankbaits.

Is this change of life or what?
I learned a long time ago to not ogle at the gals when I'm out with her. Obviously a complete lack of respect. Do I sneak a peak if it's a really nice knockout? You bet and she expects it but I don't sit n stare. Now, as far as high school girls. I've got a 24 year old and a 17 1/2 year old. About 10 years ago I started looking at gals under 24-25 years of age as kids, haven't really been interested since. Now, a nice 35-45 year old that's held up well will certainly catch my eye any day.

My Rods..Whats Missing?
I'm assuming the M/L outfit is spinning. You're on the right track getting a new rod for that. Is the 6'6" St. Croix with no reel a baitcaster? If it is that would make a good crankin rod. The 6'6" Shimano spin would be good for tubes, small worms, that sort of thing. You're on the right track with the 6'6" Extreme. You didn't say what action the 7'Quantum rod is. 6'6" MH no-brand rod could be used as a spinnerbait rod. Without knowing all the actions, the waters you fish it's hard to say what you need to round things out.

Unusual question for sponsors...
The idea seems somewhat similar to Denny Brauers show that was recently cancelled. Basically the fisherman was dropped on the lake in a boat and told to find fish. He was critiqued along the way by Brauer on all aspects of his fishing. Brauer then followed up and fished the same waters he did giving tips and advice. I thought it was a great program but apparently not since it was cancelled.

Opinions on the Following rigs, Please!
originally posted by dizzy5868 By tweaks do you mean a 150 cowling on a 200 engine? Anyway, I'll bet the S&F boys would definitely be interested in that. In fact, they'd probably be happy to run that thing and video it at the same time. I can see an Allison running a 150 doing 80, or a bullet but one of those old Tracker first generation fiberglass boats?? Hmmmm.. I'll have to see the video on this one.

An 18 ft bass tracker with a 150 doing a GPS 80mph? Please enlighten us on this setup. I'd love to hear it.

My Friend Is Gonna Kill Me
Not to take this to far off topic but why is it that students today, especially later teens, don't want to ride the transportation system provided to them by the school district (bus)? ;} grandpa glasses on{; A better question is this, when exactly did it seem to become a childs right to drive a vehicle to school instead of taking the transportation provided by the district that Mommy and Daddy are paying for via taxes? These days, as long as a kid has a car, he can apply for a parking permit and drive to school. I don't understand, it seems to me that should be a "priviledge", not a right and one that's earned either through outstanding grades or a work release program where the child is working in a program RELATED to a field of study he or she is partaking in. In my day it was only those that had a course related job that had the priviledge to drive to school Everyone else took the bus. I see no reason to change that. ;}/ grandpa glasses off ;{ BTW, take the bus if this Mario Andretti wanna be doesn't wanna slow down. One of these days he's going to speed into a situation where he runs out of talent and you're going to be the one that pays for his lack of responsibility.

*Sigh*...Here we go...again...
Anytime you're the low man on the totem pole you're vulnerable to being the first out the door when times get lean at a workplace. Another thing I can tell you having friends in the construction industry over the years, it's not a particularly steady job. Depending on what you do in that profession, bricklayer, carpenter, drywall, electrician, etc. depends on how steady you work especially over the winter season. I also know that working in the construction field is like swimming in shark infested waters. Kill or be killed basically. They're pushing workers to work harder and faster in order to push the homes up so the ROI is greater. If you can't handle the muster you'll get walked on. Fortunately you're still young. I started my profession out of tech school at age 18. Got bounced around, got out of the field, got a "good" job at the old McDonnel Douglas aircraft factory, then got laid off and thought the same way you did. In the past 15 years I've had 3 shops I worked in either go out of business or pull the rug out from under me pay and benefits wise. There's just no such thing as a long term, life long job anymore (at least not the definition I was brought up to believe). Hang in there. Some day, probably sooner rather than later you'll look back on these days and realize it was nothing more than a little bump in the road. If nothing else these are character building days and will enrich and enlighten you during your journey on this thing called life.
