Transducer Freq. - 200 or 50??
Uhh.. I believe you mean 50 or 200 kilohertz. not Hertz. Both of those frequencies are beyond the human ears capability to hear and is nowhere near the frequency at which a trolling motor runs.

Your thoughts of 2006......
I've got a month and a half before I put the boat down for the winter. This has probably been one of my worst seasons ever. I attribute some of this to new rods and reels I've been using this year, trying new baits I've never used again but most of it I can't explain. I'll just reload and try again next season.

Pure Love and Hate
Sometimes it's falling into money azz backwards. For others it's being in hock up to your eyeballs. Some just make a whole bunch of money and can afford it. With your list of needs/wants, have you considered scanning the forum boards for used? Right now there are a LOT of used rods being sold right now. After the first of the year you'll start to see plenty of used reels and there's always someone selling electronics.

Do you fish everyday??
I'm like Bass fisherman. Without a decent lake or pond nearby it kinda makes that hard to do.

Steering Cable Maintenance?
You can basically keep the steering shafts as clean as possible year round. I've tried those lube fittings for the ends but I don't recommend them anymore. The grease just gets sucked into the through holes on the motor, breaks down and gets gummy. I would've suggested Hydraulic steering if you were planning on keeping the boat for awhile.

Evolution of Dance...
That was that rapper style white guy, I think he went by IceCube or some such goofy name. The only lyric from it I remember was the "Ice, Ice baby" part. The back beat of the song was to Queens "Under Pressure".

hard to post this here
What are your job skills and work experience? Without knowing that it would be pretty tough for someone here to be able to hook you up with something. BTW, when you get that next job and get settled in you may want to investigate furthering your job skills. Many corporations offer paid tuition for additional schooling.

Free bass boat anyone?
You sure can't beat that price. Let us know if we can help on the resto. I've had a little experience in that. 8-)

Spinnerbait Theory
That rig sort of looks like a tree rig they use for trolling for various saltwater species. Some lure company came out with a spinnerbait with about 5 blades on it a few years ago. I don't think it's around anymore.

What is an EX-Member?
The weirdest thing, that happens alot on the flea market board is see "ex-member" next to someone who just posted something for sale. I don't understand? :-?

WWII stories
My Dad was a bombardier on a B-17 during WWII. He doesn't talk much about it but did say the movie Memphis Belle had some pretty realistic scenes in it that portrayed what they went through up there. It's a far cry from the aim the laser at the target and push a button style of bombing today. He also said that had Hitler used the ME-262 as a fighter from the git-go the European war would've gone on a lot longer. The gunners on the 17's couldn't hit the things because they were too fast and our fastest fighter, the P-51, could only keep up with them if it started out from a high altitude and went into a steep dive.

I was in your shoes just a couple months ago. I wound up with a better job both in enviroment and pay. Everytime a door closes another opens.

I wear a life jacket when
Anytime I'm running the big motor beyond idle speed and if the water temps are 50 or below basically.

How Did You Select Your Nickname on This Site?
I guess you meant that your girl friend has fished with you a few times huh?

What could I do to convince you ???
I tried braid when it first came out. I've used numerous brands as well as experimenting with the fusions. All in all it never turned into the replacement for monofilament because of all the negatives and the cost. 1. It digs in on the spool 2. Not very abrasion resistant 3. When wet, wraps on the rod. 4. Worthless on spinning setups 5. Impossible to break off when hung deep on the bottom. You wind up cutting a lot of line off. 6. Cost That's enough for me. I use it occasionally on Flippin applications but it has too many negatives.

using a bass boat as a recreation boat
Use the transom tiedown eyes on the back, make sure you use one of those ski bridles. OR You can get fancy and spend around $120-150 and get a pylon. One end fits into the rear pedestal base and the other two to attachments that you have to mount to the boat. No bridle needed then. As for a ladder, I used one of those 4 step hang over the side deals for years and it worked great.

Having a steady partner
If you were watching the same Redfish tourney I was your partner also better be prepared to fork over large sums of cash for boat gas. 900 miles total boat time?!!! I used to have a partner. We somewhat complimented each other. We had each mastered lure presentations we felt good about individually which often worked out well. He was a crankbait/spinnerbait meister while I was better with soft plastics and jigs. At some point or the other the fishing slanted towards one of our strengths. It worked out well. Over the years, mairrage, kids and other commitments broke up the partnership. He now has a permanent back problem that wouldn't allow him to spend much more than an hour or two in the boat. I'm still looking for that partner.

Boat Recommendations
That photo was shot a couple weeks ago at a Fishers of men tournament. No way that's me. I wouldn't be crazy enough to go out in that mess.

Will people ever learn ???
Well, the odds are good I wouldn't have a camera but I do have scales. I'd more likely give BPS a jingle and try and negotiate a deal for them to display the fish in their tank (for a fee of course) along with free mounting. A 16lber would be a state record here in MO. by a little over a pound so yep, I'd be bragging.

Quest for dependable Florida Bass sources
Hopefully your gov. agency has done it's homework on the pro's and cons of Fla bass. I private lake development my parents owned property on stocked their 200 acre lake with FLA bass around 20 years ago and it didn't work out so good. The fish just couldn't adapt to the cold winter waters of Missouri.

Will people ever learn ???
Is the guy whining that he didn't have a camera or scale to capture the moment for himself or to provide proof for the skeptical fishchris? OTOH, if I lived out in CA where the potential to catch a record breaking fish existed I'd certainly make sure I carried a very good scale and camera in the boat at all times. Not for the purpose of showing off but for the very possibility I could catch that fish that goes into the record books.
-
Will people ever learn ???
Maybe he doesn't have the same kind of personal need to show off what he's caught like you do. Maybe he's quite content with himself in this regard. I've caught quite a few big fish over the years, I used to make a more concerted effort to have a scale and camera around to capture the moment. I've got a couple of those Photo collage frames with quite a few pictures from over the years but the last 10 years it has become less of a need. Heck, sometimes I've had a camera in the boat and never bothered to get it out. That includes my PB a couple years ago of over 8lbs. I know what I've caught. A few skeptics that have come along and fished with me and then seen me catch a large fish right in front of them figured out I wasn't full of BS. I imagine he's quite comfortable with himself in his bass fishing. BTW, I don't see in your post anything about him whining about this fish he caught and not having a camera or scale, I do hear you whining about the fact that he had no scale or camera to Prove to you that he caught it though.

Your most impressive fishing streak?
I've been catching a 5lber a year for at least 10 years now but this season has been the dryest I've had in years. Other than a spring LOZ 4 day fling which itself didn't turn out that great, only one fish into the 5lb range, this is the worst fishing season I've had in years. I'm getting excited if I hook a 15" legal fish these days. ugghhh..

Bang for the Buck Bass Boat
Most of your name brand boat companies offer an entry level line of boats and a premiere line. The entry level is often a previous model year or two old that's available in fewer color choices, fewer standard features and sometimes not all options available are offered for those boats. The boats themselves are pretty good buys as long as you don't start loading the thing up with the options that are available and if you don't fall for the teaser motor (often way underpowered for the rig).
