  1. IIRC, one of the switches engages the fighting drag and the other is a free spool switch. The flip up door was supposed to allow you to feed line through the line guide easier. Even in great physical condition, which that one doesn't look like it is, they'll draw about $25-35 on Ebay.
  2. Hammer meet nail. I missed the Gunthersville event because of personal issues but last year at KY was an outstanding event. I fully intend on making it this year. It's about fellowship, fun, learning a little, razzing, fishing and little of everything else. It's sorta like deer camp. For those who haven't been and might be uncertain if you'll fit in.... don't worry, you will, we'll make sure of it. ;D From the investigating I've done so far Pickwick is considered the lake most likely to turn over a World record smallie. Some of the photo galleries from the guides are showing some pretty impressive largemouths too, 9 - 10lbers. I'm sold.
  3. shipping tubes for what? rods? I use 2" diameter pvc well casing from Lowes. A 10' pipe is around $5.
  4. I'm in the Kelley cabin too. Just anwered Leo's pm. Let the party start. BTW, WED of that week is Cinca De Mayo!!
  5. I've done only some preliminary searching on Pickwick. It has tremendous smallmouth potential which really interests me. The drive for me is only an extra 100 miles. Well worth it. I will be there. 8-)
  6. Email sent. I should've figure it was one of your shots.
  7. What type of boat is this? Any pictures?
  8. Thats what I was wondering about too. I was trying to see if there might be an agreement for it between the 3 states so that you can fish it all with either states license, but no luck finding jack about it so far. I found the agreement. I followed some links from the Pickwick site and wound up on the Tenn DNR site. There is an agreement between the 3 states but.... It starts by saying the agreement covers anyone with a valid sport fishing license from any of the 3 states. The next sentence then states Resident anglers of the 3 states may fish, w/o purchasing a non-res. license, anywhere within the boundaries covered by the agreement. I guess we need to find out if the agreement covers non-residents of those states. Also found this from Alabama
  9. Had the same thing happen today. I was only able to pull a small amount out. I'll have to pull the prop tomorrow to get the rest out, got a T on Sunday.
  10. You can lower the payment amount by putting more money down. If that's not an option your choice is to extend the length of the loan. Not really a good idea with a boat which depreciate much faster than cars. I'd suggest looking into a used rig IMO.
  11. Looks 2 and a halfish.
  12. That's a description from the GPS store. That jack at the back is for plugging into your existing onboard sound system (aka Stereo). It's not a speaker plug.
  13. At 2:55 in the video, towards the end, there's a beautiful shot of KY lake towards nightfall with the moon in the sky and a boat cutting across the water. I'd love to get a copy of that to use a desktop background.
  14. Big Question here. From the looks of it, that lake encompasses Tenn, Miss and Ala. all within a pretty short boat ride (6-7 miles) of the lodge. Is there some sort of all in one license you can get or are we going to have to carry one for each state? I just checked into state license prices Tennessee - $25.50 for a non-resident 10 day Mississippi - They only have year long or 3 dayers. year long - $50 3 day - $15 plus fees. You'll have to buy 2 of them = $34.30 Alabama - 7 day $26 For a grand total of $85.50
  15. I fished Simpson last year a few times. That lake was completely flooded over in March of 2008 when the Meramec had it's super flood last spring. I'm not sure how the bass population took to that. I fished it a couple times last year after the flood with little success. It's basically 2 old quarries with a shallower connecting area between the 2. Most of the banks drop off very quickly into 14 + feet of water. I've had success in the past keying on areas that are shallower and flatter. Something to provide a feeding shelf. I've caught bass up to 4 lbs from the lake. It doesn't seem to have a large number of bass in it but the ones that are there are decent sized. The boat ramp on the west side of the lake sucks. It's very shallow even for aluminum boats and there's no courtesy dock to tie up to. That wouldn't be a problem but it is because the water around the ramp itself is very shallow and full of rocks. It's a good place to scatch up a fiberglass hull.
  16. Ally's, Blazers and Bullets are something of a niche market within the overall bass boat market. They appeal to certain anglers who are interested in owning the fastest bass boats out there regardless of some of the drawbacks of those particular boats when it comes to other aspects of boating and fishing performance. None of those companies builds a lot of boats and the ones they do build go for a pretty penny. Whether Roland, Skeet or Ike used one would make little difference in how many they sell. Those that want those types of boats are already aware of those manufacturers. They're not in the mass produced boat building market nor do they want to be.
  17. I'm prefishing for a T tomorrow. I'll have tied on 10" Anaconda rigged with a swimming hook C rig - Space Monkey 5" swimbait 6" worm on a shakey head Some sort of craw on a jig on my flippin stick A 4" senko to drop by docks.
  18. History of Legend boats. John Storie leaves Champion and starts Viper/Cobra boats. Due to non-compete agreement he signed with Champion, he can't build a deep V wedge like the Champion boat he originally designed many years ago. Rumor has it he copied a Ranger 481V and made modifications to the hull. Viper/Cobra go belly up and then Storie starts up Hawk boat co. Hawk doesn't last long at all, (gone by around 2000 or 2001) and then becomes Legend. The Legends of today are not being built off the same molds the originals were. They have been redesigned and John Storie is no longer in the boat building biz. They are a fine boat, not the fastest but not the slowest.
  19. He won't. Like I said. You could sell that boat at that price on just about any street corner in the US in less than an hour. A deal that good isn't a deal, it's a scam.
  20. You haven't had hot wings till you have Bald Eagle wings in hot sauce. Hooters doesn't even come close.
  21. I dunno. Those portable fridges aren't really big. As you get better at finishing you'll be catching larger and larger fish and you'll need more room to start stacking those 5 - 10lb fillets up along with whatever other "raw meat" you had in mind. Possum? Otter??
  22. And then, common sense came through the door.......
  23. Invest everything in this little company called microsoft.
  24. I got dizzy just reading that!!
