  1. I couldn't find any manual download sites. Here's a TM parts site with detailed exploded views of the motors. http://www.northlandmarine.com/MinnMaxxumBowMntIndex.htm
  2. It's way too hot out to fish today so with nothing better to do other than mess with the boat and stay cool, I thought I'd present bass anglers who've been doing this bit at least 20 + years a fun scenario. Here goes. You're out fishing, you open the lid on the JJ's magic, the vapor cloud rises from the bottle and from the cloud, a genie pops out. He informs you that today's newer equipment has made life too easy on you. That you need to get back to the basics and see if you really can catch fish or whether it's all do to a reliance on modern technology. Poof All of your equipment, from boat, motor, TM, electronics, rods, reels, line and lures is gone. In it's place is the stuff you were using 20, 25, 30 years ago. You have to use this equipment for the next year and show you can produce results with it as you do with the modern stuff. The one caveat? You get to select ONE thing from the present day to fish with along with all the old. What would you choose? And, what's the 2nd thing you'd beg the genie for even though you probably won't get it? I already know what I'd choose and I'll post it later, I'm just curious to first hear others responses.
  3. Congrats on the fish. It also sounds like you've got an out of balance fishery there. I'd suggest taking some of those dinks out of the pond to eat and thin the heard.
  4. 22 years ago I was fishing Table Rock lake in early spring. I pulled a brand new Rogue out of the package and prepared to weight it to get it to suspend (back then they didn't have suspending baits). I was standing on the dock, casting and tuning the thing when a 5 1/2 lber hit. That was luck. I caught my PB, 8 1/2 lbs on a wiggle wart fishing a point in spring that I knew from experience held larger female bass at that time of year. That was skill.
  5. If going out and spending $950 on a brand new rod and reel makes you feel like you'll catch more fish than I say have at it. The reality is, you'll catch no more fish with it than an outfit costing a quarter that amount if you don't have the skills nor the ability to adapt and catch fish.
  6. Looks like a great project boat. Step one: A mix of Snobowl and bleach. Make sure you have water in the bucket before mixing them. Apply to that very stained hull.
  7. I still have one. Now that I've got a really bad case of carpal, the amount of stress those rods place on your wrists is very evident when I try and use it now. Using them as long as I did is probably one of the contributing factors to the problems I have now.
  8. You filled the battery before charging? Just how low had the water level gotten?
  9. Amazing isn't it? I could live happily ever after with plenty of money left over just on the royalties from the Beatles collection he owned.
  10. Listen here bud, it's me, you, on the road trip next year on the windiest, coldest day except this time I'm getting rid of that springy passenger seat and replacing it with an old wood buck board. Splinters included!
  11. You might want to try some melatonin first. It's available in the drug dept at most pharmacies. It's a naturally occuring compound already in the body that aids in sleep. Sometimes our levels get out of wack. It's relatively cheap. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Might be worth a shot.
  12. I've seen the SC1200's on ebay for that price, they're usually advertised as reconditioned. I got mine off of Ebay but paid around $45 shipping included. $45 is about what they sell for in Walmart. I've had no problem charging any of my batteries to 100% with it since I got it over the winter.
  13. Hope it helps you catch a ton of fish Dom. That's been a very reliable finder.
  14. Shocked. Farrah and Jackson in the same day. Back when MTV actually played music, anyone that remembers the early years will remember that the Thriller album and video's with it, raised the bar dramatically on all music video's. Jackson actually turned MTV on it's ear with that album. He went nuts towards the end but he was definitely a talent with a great stage presence.
  15. You won't find one. Boats in that vintage were rigged at the dealer. In other words, the wiring was some basic stuff done at the factory with the rest of it done by the riggers after the purchase at the dealer. There are some basic marine color coding used in the industry though it's not set in stone. Grey usually is nav lights Brown is for pumps Red is 12v feed to switches Orange is often 12v main Blue, red and green are for trim Black is ground of course. There are others I've long since forgotten.
  16. My first battery charger was a Schumacher. I got it around 33 years ago when I got my first boat. It was rusting out towards the end but still, never failed to charge a battery. It probably lasted 20 years till I accidently backed over it with the truck. Bought another one, I still have it after 13 years. Never fails to charge a battery. I recently bought another one, an SC1200. Works great, 12amp max charge.
  17. Did he take his $950 overpriced toy and leave?? ;D
  18. Real Nice 7lber. Just thought I'd get it started.
  19. Yep, not too mention warranty work on customers whose boats were purchased at that dealer will take priority over your boat. The boat repair business works differently than most. Either learn to handle smaller repairs yourself or prepare yourself for the wait.
  20. Did you make a mistake? If you spent $950 on a rod & reel combo not knowing whether you'd like it or not because you've never used one before I'd say a big YES. If you've fished one before, I'd say only you can make that decision. Spending that much money on a rod and reel without ever having tried one is nuts. Like going out and buying a Ferrari on a whim.

As someone who has lost a child, losing a dog is absolutely NO comparison. Still very sad and I feel for you. We put our dog down in late March this year. Got a new one just before the road trip and he's turned into a great dog.
  22. T shirt, shorts, flip flops and a cold beverage inside an air conditioned house with the TV on. That's pretty much everything I need when it's that hot out.
  23. Hobbies - None really, other than watching people live their lives on reality TV shows.
  24. Nothing like a little ultraviolence to titallate the old gulliver.
