Been fishing hard over the last few weeks. Thought I post a few. Just not into the fish of the season yet. It's been a weird season for me. Gonna give it heck again in a few days.

I've kissed them, thanked um, talked to them. When I'm fishing I feel great and I'm passing it on I guess.

I can see it being a confidence bait. I use to fish them a lot. Still do. Berkley Power Grubs, Mr. Twister and Zoom stuff. I prefer worm fishing. Finesse worming I guess it's called. Someone mentioned Texas rigging I agree.

No idea what she weighs. River Smallie 21" this time of year is much lighter for sure. Congrats and a beauty. Just giving you a heads up as to what I keep in my boat. Back years ago I bought one of those soft measuring tapes a seamstress uses for lengths and stuff they do. They are soft and coated these days where they can be wiped off before you fold it up. I forget I have it sometimes but it is accurate. Can do the same thing with a string if you have to.

I'm not trying to spend your money but a stream thermometer or even one from the pool store is an easy thing to stow in your vest or boat. My Lowrance is giving me surface temp I like to drop over my pool thermometer sometimes to get the temp 8,10,12 feet deep sometimes. Missing a a beautiful morning today because of work. Hope tomorrow am is this nice.

I don't know about all that seed, nuts and vegetation stuff. But big fish eat little fish, craws and insects. While bass fishing I've caught carp, some pretty good size carp over the years by accident. not foul hooked. Same for catfish. Probably just coincidence but catfish hitting lures seems to be when water gets real clear and lack of rain stretches. But probably coincidence. Bomber FireTiger, Rapala Shad Rap, power worm, Kailen Grub, Mr. T split tail grub, Case Hellgies. Anything can happen. Musky also.

You got some great advise here guy. But I think your thoughts to outfit it to your likings is a good idea. Get a good v-hull with a nice ride and go at it fitting it yourself up.

Doing some tidal fishing on Big D on Saturday. Feel'n a nice one. Water condition have sucked for the most part all season. Hoping for some nice conditions before I wrap up my season but, catching fish. Don't want to make it sound all bad. Just changed up my approach on bait size. Seems to have worked but I have the tendency to over think things sometimes. Smallies and Greenies in the same areas. Will be fishing above the city limits. But I've had those good feel'ns before.

Nice fish guy! Can't say that I've had that situation happen to me but over the years have caught fish that have had crankbaits in their jaws. Baits were like new. Poor knots because some had no line attached. Great fish!

I know nothing about the river you are talking about. But, if bass are there I would think you'd should be able to have some luck up until water temps start to get under 55 deg. Are you talking water temps or air temps? One or two nights of cool weather will not effect the water temps in that river. Most likely will make the fishing pick up.

For the river you may find it a bit of a learning curve until you find that size that they like. In my case on the river they are not huge heavy spinnerbaits.

I've thrown a jerkbait more this season so far then the past two or three combined. Countdowns, Husky Jerks and Shadow Raps. First season with the Shadow baits, I love them. Seems like a pretty accurate chart. But, quite vague also.

I find the river largemouth bite kicks up a notch or two. I don't fish for them differently they just hang together. Generally pretty nice fish also. Only managed a few greenies this year so far. Feel good about a nice one before it all over. I'm hoping for some good fall fishing. Will feel a lot better if water conditions settle down and clear up some. I'm not gonna fish too much differently at this time. With water conditions being what they have been I've up sized my baits for a larger profile. Been fishing a jerkbait a lot more than normal to give them something to see abit longer. And went to a slightly bigger spinnerbait.

This has been a very productive lure for me over the last few years. Actually for longer than that. Been around awhile. I caught my PB with it and done one better on the same lure catching my current PB with it last fall. As someone mentioned have different depth versions in the same pattern. Colors....there is enough to find something you'll like for sure. I have a handful that do real well for me. But I found all mine to be productive. For or what it's worth the original bluegill not the live image bluegill is a great pattern. To be honest I feel all the live images I own are less productive. But to each his own.

They make a crappie and panfish magnet. A bit larger. Works great for smallies also.

Yes I know what it is very well. I've fished it. I've fished it very unsuccessfully to boot. My way to any success with it will be to empty my boat of anything but an assortment of jigs and pork and plastic trailers. Fish a couple of consecutive days that way. I'll either fish it or go home early. Most likely my best bet. Years ago I had to do this worms, spinnerbaits etc. to pull it together and be successful and a believer.

I know a couple of guys who have fished as many years as I and possess as much and probably more tackle than I. When they are out they get hung up throwing a fire tiger Crankbait all day or as long as they are out. Not dissing a FireTiger Bomber because I've caught many smallies on one but the association of FireTiger and stained water only goes so far with. Good way to put it " one trick ponies ".

Fishing stuff at Walmarts must not be created equal. The Wally Worlds near me suck for the most part. The only positives of there the last few years have been. * buying my grandsons different items for trout fishing. The best for them. Do like that selection. * they had clearance on some Garcia, Berkley and some Sheakspear rods at the end of winter. I bought about a dozen of them and the guys at work sucked them right up. $9.00-$15.00 ea. Ok rods but just not for my liking. * I've pulled off quite a few Rat-L-Traps and Rattling Spots for $1.00-$2.00. Can never have enough Traps. Great lure. * I was able to get (2) Falcon Bucoo Rods for $40.00 each. Nice rods.

I feel that I'm far more to the generalist side. My nicer fish this year have been on fishing crankbaits and jerkbaits. I feel my strength is split shotting and drop shotting worms. But what I use at any given moment I have confidence in. I have one HUGE mental block. That's the jig & pig. For the most part has never panned out for me. I feel over the years this has cost me some nice fish. I just fish a different type of jig configuration. But I feel my catch of the season is yet to come and be on a Roboworm.

I've been doing this a very long time and always continue to learn. I really wish I was very proficient at jig and pig fishing. I can jig fish a grub, split tail, salty spider type or Guido Bug but I just struggle with a jig and pig or jig and craw. I have developed a mental block. Hard to shake.

I've had some bone head moments as everyone else but my craziest is the falling out of the boat with a fish on. I'm generally by myself all the time. I was feeling my oats that day running around from one deck to the other (fish was no prize) acting like "Ike" (Ike fan). My foot came up on that painted aluminum gunnel and in I went. About 6 1/2 feet of water. Landed the fish. Lost nothing. Pretty easy swim back to the boat. But I do consider myself very lucky. A dumb act like that could have been fatal.
