A possible 2 nd approach for me would be to tube fish with a bit heavier jig head to feel bottom contact better.

I'm gonna wait until show time but I'm going to pick up another 6'8" MXF Mojo spin or the new Bass X 6'8" MXF. I don't want to buy the Bass X sight unseen. I'm pretty sure they will be the same or feel the same. But maybe not. I'm in no rush. I just want both in my hands before I buy. I'll walk out with one or the other.

The wind is not my friend. I hate it. But I find myself throwing mostly crankbaits in that condition. If its real real windy I won't go out. I don't want to deal with that frustration.

Skitter Pop or Skitter Prop before sunup on a dead still air, thick fogged water surface, but I just like the bite in general.

I have a box full but, really only need: Chrome w/ black back Chrome w/ blue back Gold w/ black back Others work well but these are my favorite.

I'm Jonesing for bass to kick in but it will be awhile. I fly rod and spin fish for trout through the winter. Would like to get a few hours in tomorrow but the are calling for a Northeaster to move in in the morning. They like to hit on a scud pattern.

Fishing shows of today are no different than that of 35 years ago. The picture of HD and graphics are industry advancements but they are all set up to catch fisherman more so than to catch fish.

Black, Black w/ chartreuse tail, pumpkin seed, ps w/ chart. tail, green pumpkin, camo, and shad 4" power worms. Along with some light wire 1/0 gammie worm hooks and #7 splitshot is all a newbie guy needs to start out worm fishing. If bass are hitting you could put all this in a ziploc bag and away you go.

Well that's how good we have it. Somewhat endless possibilities. It's a however big a deal you want to make it to be to keep your confidence level. For how I fish them, Zooms versions of their split tails is all I need. I jig fish them more than a trailer. Don't know if you guys remember this or not but, there was a time when you could get a sample of something from the manufacturer and they seemed to not have a problem giving/sending you some. I think those days are long gone.

I don't like a shiny looking weight. But have only messed around with painted ones I've done myself in black and flat black. I couldn't say for sure if painted makes a difference.

I give my wife a list of items from TW and Susquehanna. She'll go at it on Black Friday she knows about the special pricing. Whatever comes is great. She knows I don't want any subs. If they have it fine if not that's o.k. to. This is not her idea of a Christmas present, she has other things in mind. I like the mystery to what might be there.

I'll be out in the am with you. Fly rodding but not for Mr. Smallie or Mr. Greenjeans. I switch gears a little during the winter. Suppose to be 30 Deg. @ 7-8 am, but that's not really too bad. I could be a lot colder here in Penna.

If the person does not have much of the time proven baits or is just starting out, things like Power Worms and Power Grub, jig heads, Gammy Hooks, Rat-L-Traps in chrome /blk. back, chrome w/blue back, gold w/ black back, Rapala floater minnow in silver and gold, Series 3 SK's, Rebel Pop R's, Rebel Craws and stuff like that. Heck on any decent day a basic Rat-L-Trap or Rebel crank craw might out fish any thing going.

I'm the type of guy that is pretty much set in my ways. But I'll keep an open mind about things. Ican feel that whopper plopper. I don't think its fished to hard in my area. But I could be wrong. In a few bodies of water that I'll call home I know I don't have all the answers for catching them. I'm no KVD. My days of impulse buying have been long over. I don't get too hung up on all the sponsor driven stuff on fishing shows either. There are versions of a Rapalas, Bandits and SK's I swear by. I do like picking up different color patterns, when I can feel it, it generall will work for me. There has been times I've been at BPS for 2 1/2 hours and only walked out with $13.00 worth of $#i+. Soft plastics is the side of fishing to me that has changed the most. This stuff is endless. There is some old school stuff that you just can't get any more. There was a time when that bothered me a bit but, once my confidence level came on with some of the newer styles, I just roll with it I guess.

Nice smallies man, they're for real. You don't have to say what you got them on but they are looking like drop shot fish in 28 ft. of water. Good luck and good fishing.

Somewhere in my limited traveling around back awhile ago I saw this Mepps with a double gold blade yellowish bead body with yellowish matching squirrel tail. Looked like a killer but I didn't pick it up. It was a 4 or 5. Wasn't trying to be cheap to not buy it. Just got side tracked and inline spinners are not on my mind that much. I'll see it again. It's a catcher, I felt it.

Thanks. I'm ready to play with it some. Will be interesting. I pulled off two decent color patterns to me. But, I don't think color will matter with this thing. If it starts out well when I start using them, I'm gonna try to find one in all black or I might make one of these all black. Im no topwater expert by any means. My 2014 and 2015 topwater bite was not for crap. Developed a head case over it for two seasons. This season was a bit different. Figured I had to free my mind and maybe my butt would follow. It did. I started throwing things that have worked in the past. Picked up fish. Dinks, runts and some respectable fish. Didn't take long to get over the head case that was looming. My my wife is probably right. She has always said I take this $h!+ way too seriously.

Stressed out work day yesterday so to eliminate unwanted and unneeded stress a trip to outdoors shop on way home usually can cure this. And a sale to boot works to. I have no new technique or any type of different approach to my fishing for the upcoming bass season other than adding a few different color patterns of things I already use. As I aimlessly walk around I come across the Wopper Plopper. I know it fairly new but I've never tried it. Had seen where reviews were pretty good. They had some in the 90 series so I bit on a bluegill and minnow pattern. I feel it. Gonna work out pretty good. Staying away from the bigger 130/190. Not feeling that at all. For my situation the length of the 90's should work well at 3 1/2". Maybe not a new technique but a different variation. Without trying it yet it appears that I can cover more water with this bait. I'll see. My comparison to something that works fairly well for me already in the torpedo and skitter prop.

We just talked about this also in a recent thread. A few nice Mepps or Rooster Tail spinners are a must have. #3's & 4's

Make sure you have a Bomber, Strike King, Bandit and a Rapala version of a fire tiger crank. All time anywhere producer but I've gotten away from the color some the last few years. Lack of rain clears water up. That pushes me away from that color a bit. Gotta have it though. You'll go broke buying everything on this post by time it's over. Hope you have a big tackle box and a back strong enough to carry it. ?
