  1. Maybe one of the guys on here that fishes “red” a lot can elaborate on it some. I just know crawfish will take that on in some part of their lifecycle that red/orange color and I try to throw it because if it being some form of a natural color. I’m a Rapala Junkie, been a DT user since the first came out. I can’t say enough good about them that how strongly I feel about them. Between the original series and the Ike series I throw a lot of DT’s patterns with success. But the Red Craw and Ike Red Demon has never gotten me a bass in freshwater.
  2. Maybe you missed it. I’m not waiting.
  3. Sounds like the Walmart’s in my area. Selection is not great. I have never been a real fan of them. Fishing stuff or just plain in general. I’ve actually boycotted them as of the pandemic. I won’t go there and get political, and I’d never tell anyone NOT to shop there. Get the best deal wherever that my be. I’ve seen some of the Ozark stuff around. Maybe it branded stuff just repackaged. But I doubt Strike King would do that with their crankbaits. Possibly but I doubt it.
  4. Talk about a head game. I can’t get a fish to bite at red in the lake or the river. But if I head a little south to fish tidal and brackish, red will work for me. I don’t hesitate to tie that on. Have my bass been huge? No. But they are bass.
  5. I’m partial to the Bill Lewis Brand Rat-L-Traps. Why? I don’t know. Just a creature of habit I guess. I have a nice selection of them. But I really only need three. chrome w/black back chrome w/blue back gold w/black back Chrome w/chartreuse back is a winner and when I get in some tidal a red chrome and a Texas red can be productive. Good luck.
  6. Sometimes you have to step back and do that. Even if a few times a season. I know what it’s like to fish your productive lures and they peter out some and productivity drops off The face of the earth and you hang in there with them. I turn back the pages and throw PowerGrubs and Mr. Twister Grubs. Usually will drum up some fish. Or just throw a Rat-L-Trap and break the funk you are in.
  7. ^^Gold w/black back Rat-L-Trap^^ That will work anywhere water and bass are. Good search bait so you can cover a decent amount of area with it.
  8. Fish a weedless worm type rig. Throw it weightless. Use a 6# or 8# spinning setup. I’d use 6 lb. but to each his own. Personally I’d throw some 4 1/2”, 6” and 7” PowerWorms. I don’t know the place you are talking about but just trying to think what I’d do if I were to get dropped off there to fish it. Maybe have some small split shot #7 or smaller if needed. I’m saying PowerWorm because it’s a basic straight forward type worm that generally worked anywhere.
  9. It’s stealing. No different than guys who break into houses, steal cars or rob a gas station. Not about the fish, about the $$$$$
  10. I do enjoy watching MLF but there has never been a lot of talk or good visuals as to what they are using. A few guy yak it up about what they are using. I've been a user of them a long time and always have one tied on or ready to be tie on.
  11. Might be easier for me to find a Thill link where they show bobber usage. Most likely on YouTube. I’ll post the manufacturer of that clear bobber. I have that with my fly fishing stuff. They are very easy to find. And to use. What I’m talking about is not uncommon.
  12. If you trap small bluegill and pumpkinseeds don’t throw them back Smallies will tear them up also. Try them with a slip float. A Thill type or something like that. The clear float and fly floats work real well. They have a small piece of surgical tubing in them that twists to lock them in place. Just a thought. You are certainly becoming the in-house resident live bait guy. Keep up the good work, have fun.

Just a heads up. Last night during the hockey game I had seen where today (9/29) is free coffee day at Dunkin’ Donut. Just throwing it out there. I’m not really a coffee drinker but some of you guys seem to be. Good? Bad? I don’t know. Just laying it out there.
  14. I really don’t fish swimbaits or at least that style. I’m more into fishing grubs. Many great types and patterns. And I fish them w/ jig heads, Shakey head, t-rig and slider. I would imagine you’ll be very successful. To me it’s a grub with ribs and a slightly different tail. Pretty close to a Zipper Worm that I’d fish. Good luck. It will work. Believe and it will work.
  15. Like everyone I can’t control Mother Nature. Rains over the next couple of day should bring up the lake levels in my parts. I don’t think major flooding is going to take place (?). With water temps out here not dropping off real far within the last few weeks I hope this puts some respectable fish up on the banks. Don’t believe the rain is going to be a cold rain. Air temps are summer like. This higher water level occurred a couple of times during the summer and was able to pick a few off quality fish. Certainly will be no time to be on the river for sure.
  16. I’m gonna look you up on that other side and we’ll go fishing. I’ve never heard fishing didn’t exist there. I heard the were all big’uns . Should be a good time. God bless ya bud.

I’ll try them again this weekend. But I’ll be quick to throw the same U Tail that is not scented. To see if anything shanges. But if they are not into U Tails that day again I’m moving on. Couple of guys were telling me about the Strike King stuff with coffee and line and lure conditioner spray by Reel Snot. If I pull off a nice fish that will be great. If not no big deal. I don’t have the time Berkley has to spend on scent development. Bass may find it to be offensive and stay away from it. Nothing would surprise me with these Yankee Bass.

I’m not a coffee drinker. I drink whatever is around and that’s not very often. You might be right with the price. It all seems high to me. The old lady uses these pods that go into the maker. Prices seem to be all over the place on those things.
  19. Probably how they present themselves. Most likely overall numbers are higher.
  20. Just not their favorite that day. Tomorrow might be different.

Thought a Jamaican blend would have been perfect. Bigger bass must have been sleeping in Saturday.

Fished my coffee ladened Zoom U Tails on Saturday. They were a Zero as far as productivity. I did have hits on the but I’m gonna chalk them up to bluegill or possibly perch. I put an effort into fishing them but did not want to beat them to death because I wanted to catch fish also. Perfect fishing day with a intermittent light and moderate rain, no wind, not cold and surface temps in higher 60,s. Switched to fishing some creatures. Managed to land a couple of small bass on Twin Tail grubs. Day was not a loss. Not much, really any fishing pressure to deal with. I’ll post again. Will give them another shot again this weekend. The Zoom U Tail is generally a productive worm. Not pre scented and my reasoning behind that worm.

I have 3 colors of Zoom U Tails not soaking but covered in dry grinds right now in zip lock bags just setting. I was gonna let it go for about a week but I won’t be able to wait that long. I’ll have to try them Sunday. Might stain them but who cares they are dark for the most part anyway. I’ll post positive or negative results. I feel I should have done this earlier in the year. And I certainly can’t make a good judgement with one outing.

Should have thought about this earlier in the season. Gonna pull a few Zoom Baits and try it. Other than the salt Zoom stuff is pretty neutral. Not pre-scented.
