Don’t see many doing that. I guess you fall in the 5% I see. No knocks against kayak use. In one area I fish, if I want to get on a particular piece of cover or structure I make sure I do it early before a kayaks are in there. Have to believe some or most are casting somewhat blindly. The kayaks that are made for fishing seem to give the angler a bit of an advantage.

Up at the lake there are a few yak anglers I see on a regular basis. They are pretty proficient in using them in and around cover and how they approach cover. Than there are the other 95% of them who don’t stand a chance on catching anything decent unless the fish gets foul hook because with the first cast they are hung up and the yak is in the tree limps and blow downs. Unless you are suppose to fish like that. I’m willing to bet they are pretty decent anglers. But not being up high enough to make a decent cast or see the correct angle you want to fish something must no go real well. I would not mind having a kayak. But maybe not for fishing. Standing gives me better sight picture.

I hope they start something like that in my grandsons school districts. Even if in a few years from now. I’ll be retired and can maybe help out in some capacity. Sounds great.

I’m very satisfied with my Rapala tools. No rusting (only freshwater use). I take care of my stuff I don’t spray them down but once or twice a season.

My thin nylon rope I have tied to the handle. It set about 1/3 under. Access door is spring loaded and snapsback tight.

Maybe I have your favorite in there and I Can put a few in a plastic bag, in an envelope and mail them to you. Maybe can give you a chance to relive it. My most productive color was that solid grayish And the solid pumpkinseed. The colored claw ones would get ruined by the shell crackers.

I can’t see how it would make much of a difference. Mine has a weight built into it to keep it a a certain pitch. The whole container does not fill completely with water. It does not sink. In my case I tell one of those grand boys pull in those minnas. Because I can’t imagine what it’s like pulling away let alone Get on plane with a minnow container leashed to one of my cleats. I troll around with it leashed up with no trouble.

Mo, that Guido Bug was the Shizzle. Back in the day I use to fish the heck out of them on the river. 1/16 oz. jig head with 1/0 hook. After all these years I still have a few. You still have some? I gave up a long time ago trying to find them. What a great bait.

Get the Frabill. It will last forever. Put the right length leash on it and you’ll be set. If my grandsons want to fish shiners that’s what we use. No live bait in my live well. Rope leash is the right length. Makes life real easy.

We are suppose to get some heavy hitters in over the next few days. Nothing hurricane like. I hope so, rain proved to be a good weekend for grandsons and I. The lake was noticeably higher. Condition of water was better than I had expected. But than again it must effect different parts differently. I was catching fish basically off the bank Saturday. Sunday in less than 8 ft of water. They were feeding on bluegills. For me my fishing has taken an up tick. Dog days or no dog day I’ll take it.

Good post. I’m not a big time Tourney guy. Anything I do is at a small time scale. But I want to keep my fish alive for another day. My fish are never in there all that long. Certainly not 8 hours. My livewell is always in good shape, operational and cleaned after use. I have some peroxide, C&R stowed away to help promote fish health. We (grandsons and I) just keep them healthy for some pic and measurements. Most times putting them back in the same hole we caught them in. I’m more conscious about the tank temp. Sometime I bring solid frozen soda or water bottles in a cooler to keep tank from getting too hot. But most times for me it is immediate release. It’s not good for any bass to be tanked up for any length of time. You can try to use any number of the additives out there. Stress is not good for them. They don’t want to be in that tank. I sort of like MLF weigh and immediate release. Fish goes right back in where he came from. To each his own.

Same thing happen last season? Just curious. Baitfish and fish bait still in that area.

I’m generally fishing alone. I really don’t bring that along. I should just keep it on deck but don’t. I suppose it would be more of a necessity to me if I had higher gunnels. I bought a nice Frabill net the other year when my grandsons started taking fishing more serious. It’s always on board when fishing with them. They love using it. Fits down in the console area pretty decent with the handle laying back. Much like “looking45” does in his post.

Dude, that’s a nice setup and rig you got yourself. I fish 19 ft. Tracker. I do love it. When I’m out it’s like fishing from my living room. But I realize it is overkill. But there are times I’d like to be able to drag something down for easy access. Be safe.

You guys have some nice Smallies up there. Keep fishing them. Don’t worry about that state record. A 5 lb. Smallie is a nice fish anywhere. Good fishing.

I’m from Penna. and a few trips a year. The state of Maryland has a great DNR system. Call them. They will help. Have to believe it because they have a lot online compared to PA and many other states. I only fish a few tidal spots there and love the trips down.

Grandsons and I had a few fished tanked yesterday. Wanted to grab some dimensions and pics and get them back in the water. Tanked them while we were fishing a certain stretch of the lake. Fished were not injured, all were good jaw hooked. My Tracker has decent livewell functions. Timed fill and Timer aeration. They were in great shape and not in there very long. 95% of the time it is immediate release. Grandsons like to tank them to see them awhile. It's all good and we treat them with kids gloves. Hydrogen peroxide is a good, safe and cheap additive. Get it at CVS, Rite-Aid or grocery store. Store it in a heavy Duty Zip lock bag. Cap will seal good but bag will be safe. Get a pool thermometer to keep an eye out for tank temps. I guess some of the tournament guys here have digital readouts, I'm not that sophisticated. There are probably a few decent videos out there. Not that I know that for sure.

A couple of Googan Pop- R’s caught my eye and have been effective. The pattern and size caught me, not that name brand. There was a big to do post on here about them compared to another manufacturer or vice versa. All hype.

Your lure has always worked well for me River Smallie fishing. But so has a Rapala Skitter Prop. Don’t want to say that it is better. But as effective.

If it feels right to you go for it. The Mojo Rod series doesn’t have much or anything over that rod. I own both along with many St. Croix Rods. In that spinning series I have the Med. and ML X-Fast. My oldest grandson is fishing them primarily. Good quality, good warranty, great for soft plastics. These rods are not meant for lipped crankbaits. They are built for plastics. Might be a $100 rod but I would not call it a low end rod. There’s a lot of junk out there. Would not put it in that category.
