So far the Richmond Fishing Expo is scheduled for January 15 -17 at Meadow Event Park - State Fairgrounds of Virginia in Doswell, east of Kings Dominion off I-95. Check it out and note the seminars and seminar speakers when that information is posted. Of course, we could still have a problem with the virus in January so check on the event to make sure it is going forward as planned.

Michigander, although some of our fellow Forum members may disagree with me, the one scholarly paper on the subject of bass fishing that I know and can understand is Dr. Keith Jones' book, Knowing Bass, The Secret to Catching More Fish. Although Dr. Jones uses scientific data and nomenclature, the book can be understood by anyone who wants to know more about that little green monster. And it has charts and graphs, too! There are a lot of universities that offer fisheries biology as a major and I am sure someone along the way has penned a paper for their masters or Ph.D. on the subject of bass behavior. Check out this list and you may be able to get into their archives and locate the topics you are seeking. https://www.universities.com/programs/fishing-and-fisheries-sciences-and-management-degrees I think the entire list is longer but these are the best schools for fisheries biology. You can contact Northern Michigan, University of Michigan, or Michigan State to find out what they can offer you in your search. Finesse, many years ago I fished with a semi-pro bass guy who was banned from tournaments on the Historic James and the Chickahominy rivers in Virginia. He finally settled to fish tournaments on Chickahominy lake but quit as the lake was too small for him. His name is Jim, and he was also a guide on the James and Chick. Jim told me that he went to "guide school" back in the day to learn the secrets to being a good guide. He also told me that when a bass was caught, it gave off a scent to warn the other bass of its situation. This scent was supposed to turn off the other bass. True? I have no idea. If this theory is true then why do we catch two or three bass off one piece of structure? Or watch other bass follow in the one we have hooked? I saw lately a video from Bass University that the pro told us to fish the front of docks first and then go towards the bank so not to spook the bass in those areas. And that is what I do. Maybe some of the pros know the answer to your question. Very interesting topic. Thanks for posting.

I suggest you remove the trailers. In addition, have you thought about sprinkling talcum powder on your baits to keep them dry until you need them next year? Just a suggestion.

The weather people are always debating the impact of the Siberian snow levels and La Nina as to which will take over our winter weather. The following was written for other weather individuals in October, 2020 from Dr. Cohen. Very confusing if you are not a meteorologist. Enjoy! "In the article there are only two predictors mentioned ENSO and Eurasian snow cover extent (SCE). It is amazing to me that as far as I know there are really only two predictors mentioned in the media used for winter forecasts. This demonstrates how hard it is to find a dependable signal to make seasonal forecasts. Of course, ENSO is universally used and Eurasian or Siberian snow cover is much more controversial and may even be more correctly described as a niche predictor. And though they are not mentioned in the article, Arctic sea ice and extratropical sea surface temperatures could be thrown into the mix as well. Northern Hemisphere Snow Cover Snow cover advance continues its climb across Eurasia and is currently near decadal means. Snow cover advance will likely continue to advance especially across East Asia the next two weeks as troughing and cold temperatures spread across the region. Above normal snow cover extent in October, favors a strengthened Siberian high, cold temperatures across northern Eurasia and a weakened polar vortex/negative AO this upcoming winter followed by cold temperatures across the continents of the Northern Hemisphere. North American snow cover is also steadily advancing to near decadal highs and is comparable to last year at this time. The early advance of snow cover across Canada this fall, has likely contributed to an early start of cold temperatures across the Central US."

If you recall, there was a post on this Forum about Maryland closing a section of the Potomac River due to a bacteria infestation. Just saying you do yourself no good to get the bacteria or virus onto your hands so be careful.

X2. We fish creeks in our bass boats all the time in the tidal Virginia waters. One of the most popular creeks is the Aquia Creek that flows into the Potomac River. Check it out on Google Earth. And there are many smaller creeks that we go into with our boats that are narrow but there is enough water to support a fish popultion and our boats.

Have you asked the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency about what you and others have found? If not, please do so. The sores may be transmittable to humans. I hope not. But you really need to get the TWRA involved. Let us know what they tell you.

Koz, you know your son needs to attend one or two college level summer camps each year for pitchers so the coaches can see him pitch. I am sure both Clemson and USC have some good camps, especially South Carolina. LSU has a camp but with Clemson, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia being in your back yard he can get a lot of local exposure. Is he a lefty or righty???

Just a suggestion: if you get Charlie Brewer's book on Slider fishing I suggest you upgrade your rod to a medium or medium heavy. The light weight rod Charlie recommends can cause hooking problems as you do not have the power to properly set the hook. Just my two cents. Please keep this to yourself. It is a secret.

Catt, in his videos, Bigmouth, Bigmouth Forever and Feeding Habits of Bass, Uncle Homer Circle found that the big ladies would shy away and hide when they heard a trolling motor. The video you posted confirmed this fact. John Hope's Trackin Trophies by Jesse Miller is also a great read and I think this series you have posted by UL-Monroe Ken Smith will present updated information for us to consider. I suggest everyone find the three Uncle Homer Circle videos as Uncle Homer and Glenn Lau watch bass in their own habitat as they were the first to study bass on a scientific level by a non-scientific person.
