Good one. When I was working my way through college I worked at a tomato box manufacturing plant. The foreman sent me out to get a left-handed screwdriver. The guys in the plant had me going in all directions.

I have never had a problem with a dock owner in Virginia. On Lake Anna there is one guy who will walk out on his back yard and stare at us or throw sticks to his dogs along his bank, but otherwise no problems. Two of the guys in my bass club have had one guy run out of his house carrying a shotgun and after reporting the incident to the local Sheriff their have not been any future problems. I guess the people in the south are more acceptable to allowing us to fish their property.

Thomas, The major problem facing everyone who wants to get sponsored is the economy. You will now face an additional challenge as many businesses will pull back from donations and sponsorships. The non-profits will take a big hit next year (2009) followed by manufacturing and retail. So not only do you and all the other guys have to continue to keep seeking sponsor money, but you will now have to sell yourself strongly and tell your prospective sponsor why you can help him/her bring in more sales to their company. 2009 should be very interesting regarding sponsors, both current and prospective. Things happen for a reason. You will have no idea of why things happen as they do, but there is a reason for it. Just keep looking, which is half the fun. The other half is getting the boat home and playing around with it. Merry Christmas.

In the literature I have read the writer stated that sometimes the rattles can spook the bass. Sorry, I cannot remember who penned the data as I read too many bass related books, magazines and articles. He said that if the bass do not strike your rattle baits then throw something without a rattle to see if that is what they are seeking. Just food for thought.

Muddy, I really think these things have been caused by the Bait Monkey. No doubt about it. The Bait Monkey is doing all of this to us so we will go out and buy more stuff for Christmas. This is why I have an ADT alarm system on my home. ;D

Your choices are incomplete. What about "both" or "ripped off the bottom" or "drag it over wood" or "fast and slow" and on and on. I fish buzzbaits both fast and slow. The fish have to tell you what they want. And what about weights and colors? Just suggestions.

Lakes Gaston and Kerr are on the Virginia-North Carolina border and you can fish them with either state's fishing license. On the southern Virginia-North Carolina border you need a North Carolina non-resident's license to fish the Chowan if you live in Virginia. There is a lot of tax revenue for states from non-resident fishing license sales. Need I say more???? >

Bassboy, Get that high school diploma. That is your goal. Then, either get a career or go to a community college, a trade school or a university. Just get that education.

Best time from my house by the Willy Bridge and the James River to Bethesda is 2 hours and fifteen minutes. Three hours is 45-minutes longer.

NOVA Update for Thursday, December 18, 2008. 1. Water temps cold. 2. Fish are inactive. 3. I-95 is a disaster. 4. The Beltway around DC is a disaster. 5. Hit great pond this AM and got NO BITES. 6. It was cold (45*) so I only fished for about 20 minutes. 7. I-95 is still a disaster. 8. People on interstates that have never been on interstates and they don't know what a "hammer" lane is or how to drive in it. 9. The Beltway around DC is still a disaster. 10. It took me from 6:30 to 9:20 to get from Richmond to Bethesda this AM. Did I mention that I-95 is a disaster?????

Do you guys realize that Adolph Hitler's relatives are living in the USA today? They have changed their names and will not admit they are direct descendants. If you watch either Biography or The History Channel you learn these things. If I had The History Channel when I was in high school or college I would have scored A's all the time. And yes, we had TVs when I was in high school and college. Even in color!!!! So anyone naming their child after Adolph Hitler is dumb. Really dumb. And they are NOT a member of the Hitler family.

Glenn, They like french fries. Get a bag of frozen french fries and use them for bait after you defrost a bunch. Never tried McDonalds' fries but I guess they would work.
