When ESPN purchased B.A.S.S. they cancelled the Bassmasters University series. The series was outstanding. You got to hear each pro for two presentations each day and it was up close and personal. I took notes and still review them. I missed the last one in Virginia as they moved it from Richmond to Hampton and in February you never know what the weather will do so I passed, thinking I would consider attending next year. my mistake. No more Bassmaster University. But it was fantastic to meet and see the pros in person and hear what they had to say. In my opinion, if the pros were willing to continue the series then E.S.P.N. blundred and has made a tremendous PR error.

What are they is another question, but there are too many sightings of unidentified flying objects to say "no" to your inquiry. They may be secret mililtary projects; things falling from outerspace into our atmosphere; aircraft; rockets; and who knows what else. As for flying saucers, the "Men from Mars" will have to overcome the speed of light to reach our planet, and as we know, our scientists can make particules go faster than the speed of light, but nothing large enough to sustain a large mass of matter nor life in the tests. So we cannot go as fast as the speed of light with any machine or a machne holding a payload. But does this eliminate other creatures on other planets in our our other galaxies from doing this and reaching Earth? Remember, there are people out there who have seen Elvis; spoken with dead people; are psychic; believe in ghosts; can read your fortune; and believe Alabama will win the BCS football championship this year. It is up to you as to believe what you want. Now, being an intelligent human being and headed to Kansas State in a few years, how about getting your degree in astronomy or physics and do some research in the flying saucer arena? You will need your Ph.D. which should not be any problem for you. Then, travel the world investigating flying saucers, like Mulder used to do on TV before he got eaten by Jabba the Hut in the last episode. At least I think it was Jabba the Hut. Or was it the Evil Emperor? Did Mulder get hit with a light saber or did a Storm Trooper do him in? I forgot. Water is cold so get one or two and give them a try.

I stand near the edge of the boat. I put on a Senko rigged Texas or Wacky or go with a Shaky Head. Zoom Finesse worms are also a good choice. I flip and pitch out of the boat to the shore or to a stickup or a tree or bush, etc. with my Curado baitcaster using 12 pound flouro line on a 6'6" or 7'6" rod. I do more pitching than flipping, but I do both. I get as close to the shore, stickup, tree, wood, bush, dock, pier, moored boat, leaves, grass, pads, etc. as I can with the bait. I am always on the lookout for snakes, too.

Eyes on jigs? Eyes on frogs and crankbaits and Rats and spinnnebaits are OK. Never was concerned with eyes on jigs. More concerned with how the claws flap around. Fast or slow? Or close together? Or wide apart? And the skirt colors are important, too. Don't worry about eyes on jigs. Worry about eyes on frogs.

Hey Ghost, Beautiful set up, but I would suggest....... Putting all reels in plastic bags to keep dust and dirt off of them.... Storing rods standing up and not laying down. Just some suggestions. The only problem I see is that you do not have enough stuff and the Bait Monkey is sad. ;D ;D ;D

Ghoti, Remember that you can throw deep diving crankbaits into shallow water to stir up the bottom. I throw the DD's toward the shore to make them look like a crazy crawfish digging into the bottom and stirring up the dirt and rock. Favorite colors? Right now, I am throwing Sexy Shad to see how it will perform and will continue my experiment into next year. Otherwise I use shad colors most of the time. Caught one on a DD Sexy Shad in about 6 feet off water in a local lake last month. Too cold to go back out until tournament season next March when I will try them again. Just make them look like a crawfish or a baitfish stirring up the bottom and you will catch something. Be sure to use the correct line test based on your reel and rod specifications and check the line for nicks and scrapes after every ten (10) casts and retie your knot after each fish. I lost a nice one on the trip last month as I got lazy and did not check the line and it snapped. Try various DDs and sooner or later you will find the one you like best. Send pics of what you catch.

Heard rumors yesterday (I had to work so no internet) that Tubby is gone from Auburn. Anyone heard those rumors? Lester Miles at LSU is considering new assistant coaches and he promises LSU will play better in their bowl game. Hey, when you are on the bottom the only way you can go is up. I still vote to play Arkansas State in the Indy Bowl but it looks like the Cotton is still interested in the Fighting Tigers due to the large following and fan/alumni support in Dallas. The Cow Bowl is considering LSU to play Georgia Tech and so far the Cow Bowl is the place for the Fighting Tigers. Anyone got any news on Tubby please let me know. Thanks

Depending on the water clarity, throw a jig with a trailer into your pond using a color for the water conditions. Let it sit for 60-seconds. Not 30-seconds; not 45-seconds; but a full 60-seconds. If no bite, close your eyes and become a crawfish. Move the bait s-l-o-w-l-y on the bottom, just like a crawfish. Bring it back to you with little jerks of your rod tip. Remember, one-inch of rod tip movement = six-inches of bait movement. A full jig skirt will blossom out like a crawfish on the bottom, looking for a place to hide. The trailer will give the jig "bulk" so it will sink slower and move slower and give a good, large profile, just like a Big Mac or a Whopper. Throw the jig in an "umbrella" pattern, starting from your left and then moving to your right. From the shore on your left, to the open pond, back to the shore on your right other side. Try it again going from right to left. If no takers after trying this technique, go with a SKINNY crankbait to have a tight wobble. If the water is stained or dirty, use the cranks with rattles. If clear, no rattles. If still no bites, try a Rat-L-Trap the color of the crawfish in your area or a dieing shad. Fish it slow. If still no bites, go home, get some hot coca, clean and organize your fishing gear and tackle and watch TV until next Spring.
