No. You have found the staging area for the big ladies that they will hang out until they move up to spawn. Most of the time during prespawn we fish too close to the bank and catch the smaller males while the big ladies are hovering out farther from the bank. Wow! Glad you did not try to make it to the airport where you would have found your flight cancelled. Since there is nothing to do in Bamaland other than to play golf, cry about the loss to Clemson, and doing some bass fishing, you haven't missed much. Mobile does have a Mardi Gras but I believe it will be later in February. You can tour the Bear Bryant Museum which is a great place, love or hate Bamasux. Worth the time and entrance fee. Have a safe trip.

There are photos of ghosts. In Louisiana, at The Myrtles in St. Francisville, the place is haunted and there is at least one photo of a ghost in a photo. My wife and I toured the place during daylight hours and the tour was excellent. Did not see any ghosts and left for Baton Rouge for an LSU football game so we did not stay the night. I suggest you and your girlfriend make a visit one weekend to The Myrtles and let us know if you made it through the night.

The Bass Fisherman An 80-year-old bass fisherman goes to the doctor for a check-up. The doctor is amazed at what good shape the guy is in and asks, 'how do you stay in such great physical condition?' I'm a bass fisherman,' says the guy, 'and that's why I'm in such good shape. I'm up well before daylight and out fishing up and down the rivers and lakes all the time. I have a glass of vino, and all is well.’ "'Well' says the doctor, 'I'm sure that helps, but there's got to be more to it. How old was your Father when he died? "Who said he was dead?" A future University of Alabama student for sure. I think what he does is great. I am sure EG and his girlfriend have had some interesting encounters. My paranormal story: Not about bass fishing, but a client of mine in Alexandria, Virginia, had a building that the janitors have said for years was haunted. In fact, they refused to go into the basement area. And some would not return to clean the building at night. They were 100% scared. So big ole me said I will go down to the basement and check it out on one of my visits. Well, I went down the stairs, felt the cold air, felt something looking at me in the dark, and I set a new record for going back up the stairs and out of the basement. Never ever considered going back. Found out later that the building was built over an old Indian graveyard and that there had been many instances of "hauntings" in the building. Plus the fact that no one, even the executives, would go into the basement. Building was torn down and the graves moved to another cemetery so no more problems. I still get goose bumps when I think of going down into that basement. EG is on to something. And by the way, my house in Richmond is haunted. Ghost smokes a pipe and he has been a good ghost for the past year. Have seen some "flashes" of something moving fast in the upstairs hallway from time to time, but he has stopped moving things which is nice and my wife appreciates it. As I have mentioned on this site before, there are three cemeteries on the old plantation where my house is built and so far the archeologists have found only two. I think I know where the third one is located.

Alabama will have the players but new coaches. Satan is cleaning house and the coaches who can leave are gone or will be gone, soon. Clemson is a happy household and their quarterback is fun to watch. A true first rounder in two more years. Lots of NFL teams will be watching this kid. Hope he continues his good play and makes it in the NFL. As for next year, the SEC has to make sure Bama plays an easy out of conference schedule and that the SEC refs know how to screw the other team. Seems the refs on the field are in the same union as the replay refs and no matter what the refs on the field call in a Bamasux game, the replay guys will support their calls. Bamasux's 2019 out of conference foes are Duke, New Mexico State, Southern Miss, and Western Carolina. Four "W's" for sure. No Georgia or Florida. So from a "win perspective" the Tide will be rolling along with some good contests against LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn. Otherwise, nothing to get excited about. As for Clemson, their out of conference foes include Akron, The Citadel, South Carolina and Notre Dame. They do not play Virginia Tech. So Clemson will have a very strong year as their ACC schedule is weak and right now, the only team that could be expected to pull an upset is the Fighting Irish. As Lee Corso says, "Not so fast my friend." A lot can happen on the way to the playoffs and upsets happen as do injuries. And we always have upsets and unexpected close games in college football. It will be interesting to see where Jalen Hurts ends up. Some say Miami while Missouri would love to have him. Oklahoma and Ohio State will let him compete for the starting role, something he may not want to do. And UCLA is very interested in his services. Hope he leaves the SEC and plays where he can have a strong season as he is an excellent quarterback and fun to watch. Only around 240 days or so to kickoff so get ready for some football! In the meantime, sit back and enjoy some college baseball. Geaux Tigers!

I really like the Historic James and love the Chick river. The Chick is one of the best rivers to fish along the Atlantic coast, including the Potomac. Get a GMCO map of the Historic James and Chick rivers at the Expo from the GMCO guy and study the high tide water levels as some of the creeks are hard to enter due to the shallow water. This summer you can put in at the Route 5 bridge and recon Morris and Gordon creeks, Shipyard and Warmouth and Little creeks, hit Dick's New creek, and then go all the way back into Diascund creek by the train bridge and float back out. Be sure to run to the dam, too and hit the pads and grass lines on the way. Have fun!

JT, it is a pleasure to be able to go to an Internet site that has many individuals who share your passion and love of one topic: bass fishing. No cussing; no dirty jokes; a few disagreements; and lots and lots of fantastic information. I have personally met a number of guys on the Forum and all have been great guys. I have also seen a number of guys come and go; grow up; join the military; get married; have babies; change jobs; help with other "non-fishing" projects; help with hard times; and share their knowledge and experiences with us. Glenn and his wife have put together a really nice place to escape today's life pressures and learn a few things at the same time. I am thinking of a gumbo. Need two pounds of shrimp and one pound of crab meat plus the "trinity" and lots of bay leaves. Have the Canola and flour for the roux. Need to make it Friday night and let it sit in the refrigerator for 12 hours to blend together. Outstanding!
