Best Way?
The first tournament I ever fished was as a co-angler in the BFL. It was the greatest move I ever made. The reason I did it was because I wanted to learn. $100 is a cheap, full day guided trip. That's just the way I looked at it, as a learning experience. And boy did I learn. I got lucky and drawed a couple of the top sticks on my home lake. But I learned something from all of the boaters I drew. It's worth a $100! Plus you never know what might happen!

3rd grade test
I don't know how many I got right. You didn't post the answers! ;D Just playin'. Ahhh...Estimating and Reasoning. I know exactly how you feel. I have spent countless hours with my oldest son, he's in the 4th grade now. I get frustrated cause alot of the questions in their assignments are almost asking for an opinion or there isn't a clear answer. It's sad cause he has to do his homework, then I have to do his homework to check it! Oh yeah....IT GETS WORSE!

Rapala Subwalk Works...GREAT!!!
Nice reveiw and nice fish, ghost. I guess I need to try the subwalk. I don't think I have a lure of that class or atleast one that runs that depth.

Adding Structure
Christmas trees don't make good bass habitat atleast from my experience. Just try some brush like tree limbs. Make sure you weight it down good especially if there is any current envolved.

Charley Hartley may not have won the classic......
Totally agree! He's gonna be one to watch out for. Very consistant.

first time tounament director any advice?
DQ the first ones that show unsportsman like conduct after you have posted rules that state "there will be no unsportsman like conduct". The deal is everybody wants to fish and will follow basic rules to do so. You are the TD, that means your the "MAN". If anybody breaks the rules, DQ em'. Don't matter who it is. Treat them all the same. On another note, the TD I told you about doesn't use his own program. The organization he works for takes care of it. But, I would reccommend finding a program. This trail has had problems in the past keeping everything straight.

The most important feature when locating bass?
Matt-Fly, I forgot about the bait. Great point. I expect alot of different opinions cause of the different waters people here fish. I myself, think depth first and that may not be the key factor. I think bait is as important and ofcourse, what season you are fishing may cause other features to be "key". Thanks for the input, keep it coming! Bud, you better go check with a LC 78.

Yep, it's as bad as the Head On commercials. Only difference is Head On works. ;D

first time tounament director any advice?
I'll check with one of my TD's and see what he uses. If he's using a program, it's gotta be a simple one. BTW, you must live near the Powder River. Never been there, just a big Chris Ledioux fan. And, Welcome to Bass Resource! CJ

Charley Hartley may not have won the classic......
....but I believe he won the hearts of bassfisherman all across the world. Watching some of the coverage, this guy has a great attitude and a wonderful personality. I bet it won't be the last we here from him! My hats off to you Charley!

The most important feature when locating bass?
Okay, say you found something that worked. Say, you just pulled up on a rocky point with stumps,10 ft. deep dropping off into 30 ft. of water. You crush em' right there on top of the point. Now you need to find another spot. 10 ft. being the depth the fish were caught 30 ft. being the deepest nearby depth The point being the structure The stumps being the cover The rocks being bottom contour Which feature would be most critical to duplicate from the spot you found?

The most important feature when locating bass?
When you are trying to locate bass, what do you feel is the most important factor of a pattern. In other words, what do you feel is most important such as: Bottom contour? Depth? Structure? Cover? Other? I don't think there is a wrong answer. Just thought it would be interesting to see what some of you thought. Thanks, CJ

Fishing 101: What to do when the fish jumps
I like to watch em' jump! Keep your line tight ,as Other mentioned, and get your rod tip down. It's about all you can do if your just making sure you want to land the fish but sometimes nothing works.

Remembering Brian Kershal

Your favorite high-end jig?
:-X I've been trying not to let that cat out! I'm still believe a jig is only as good as it's hook. I am fond of fine cut silicone skirts though.

And the Winner is...
He also knows how to catch fish when it counts! I am proud for him, as I would be for any of them. But he was due for this and it's his time to shine. WAY TO GO ALTON! YOU DA MAN!

Re: Bassmaster BLOG.....holding out on us?
Well, the fishing is over. Guess we'll get to see how much of the blog was on. I think it's no question we will be in for some surprises. I'm on the edge of my seat. I have never followed the Classic this close(probally cause I've had a bad cold and stayed in). I guess we'll see here shortly!

Average total wieght for Tournament 's ?
Seems that some don't understand the question. This might make you feel better. My average for the last 3 years in the BFL is 6 lbs. 10 oz. per tournament fished. Last year my average for the BFL events were 10 lbs. 4 oz. These averages come off a good lake. I guess I better keep my day job too, huh? :-? Though these are my BFL fish/tourny averages. I've won around 30G's cash and prizes the last 3 years counting all tournaments fished. A blind hog will eventually find an acorn if he tries!
