  1. http://marinecreations.homestead.com/testpage.html Check these replicas out... Especially the largemouth. They look phenomenal . I d.o enjoy a good skin mount. Always have. Always will. I’m a weirdo but don’t I like looking at fish mounts on eBay. I wish I could hear the tales.
  2. The new metanium is not out yet. There are no videos of it in action. It should be comparable in casting distance to the current version, and there are videos out there. I've only used my Bantam twice. I estimate I was casting a 1/2 ounce rattletrap 50 yards with 20 pound Big Game monofilament. But it is a 150 sized reel. A 200 size reel holds more line, so it's physically able to cast even further if it's design/ engineering allows for it. 50 yards is plenty for me. If I dropped down in line size and upped lure weight, I have no doubt I could cast further.
  3. Condolences kind sir. Prayers.
  4. It isn’t a problem. Look at some metanium vs bantam videos. One will cast further than you will ever need in bass fishing. The other a few more feet. An 80s Modell ABU Wide spool Ultra Mag has won distance world championships, if it is that important. It will be a grinder. But probably not as much as the Doyo\Lews.?
  5. I got a one minute drive to get over there to the ramp. City Park, Roseberry Creek, Lake Guntersville. I wish I was closer.
  6. I have a Bantam. It will spool 20 mono. That's further than I need to ever throw bass fishing, and I like long casts. I was worried about the same thing. Not anymore. And it is butter.
  7. This is one of the more interesting and informative posts I have seen on BR, or any bass forum. Where classroom science meets real world practices and experiences.
  8. Your rods in action. Cheap rage version. Same specs as the legend. Not designed as stout as Dobyns 795. Imo St. Croix is more moderate. Imo. I preferred Dobyns in grass lakes. It is faster and pops jig through much better on long casts in milfoil. You can see deep moderate bend of croix in first video. It pins them. American vs Chinese craftsmanship. Two good warranties but I believe St. croix warranty is superior, but haven’t studied it.. The Legend should be higher quality. St. Croix Dobyns video.
  9. I had the cheaper St. Croix rage version of this. Great rod.
  10. If I knew middle of the road included Dobyns 795, I would have recommended it. I got one this year. Awesome rod. It is not a light punch rod though. It can handle any slop.
  11. Bet you got a bad spool. I use Big Game faithfully. But I did get a bad spool one time in 30 years. Guessing the machine that spooled it roughed it up.
  12. Lowrider or Bucoo Amistad Or St. Croix Mojo Frog and Slop
  13. Is this the one with the cool shark tooth exterior?
  14. Is this reel similar to the E series in terms of gears and simplicity?
  15. No, but some do. Light line. Heavy aerodynamic sinker. Highly adjustable reel. It would not ever go past 60 yards in a typical bass fishing situation. Google the reel. It is a beautiful green color. Mine has a line guard. Some don’t.
  16. I have a 5500CS Mag Elite that is stock. I have taken a 1 ouce barrel sinker and 10 pound line and thrown it over 100 yards with a 7 ‘ Ricky Clunn Diawa cranking rod. It is an enthusiast reel that people raved about 15 to 20 years ago on The Bass Fishing Home Page. Gowge pushed it.
  17. My son was frogging and had the same problem. He had been making 55 yard bomb casts using braid.. Solution. Peel line to the spool and reel it back in.
  18. NY is a good place.
  19. 3 n 1. If you study up, it is about as good of an all around oil as there is.
  20. Lots of world champion casters use 3 n 1
  21. I recommend keeping that one covered.
