Baits in the 1/8 oz range need to be thrown on spinning gear... Not that you can't on a baitcaster but if you have any wind it's not worth the hassle. I use a 7'ml Extreme spinning rod.

Define 45, Are we talking ACP or LC? LOL I also have a full size XD in 45 and a sub compact XD in 9mm both of them are also bigger than I like to carry on a daily basis.

I normally don't use any spool tension. I'd be surprised if you looked at my reels and you found one of my reels that didn't have a bit of side to side spool play. Needless to say I use my thumb but not a lot of it, more of a tap or too then stop it at the end. Heavy winds and all bets are off.

Yep it's winter in Kansas but I spent a little time on the water Today (or in it). :My deck is about the only place nearby that has soft water.It may not be a great place to catch fish but I can just watch KVD do that. I hope everyone else is making it through the long cold winter.

^^^ yep^^^ LOL It shouldn't break on you but I'd want to put a lot of rounds through it to make sure it's 100% reliable . NOTHING else is acceptable! And make sure it cycles your preferred home defense ammo and not just your cheep target ammo.

I have a box filled with about a Dozen colors of The Paca's? I also have a box filled with Rage . The Paca's ONLY get used ? I take that back I don't use anything but the rage anymore. Reason= They will hands down catch more fish and bigger fish for me!

You may want to look at the Luck "E" Strike RC. I have one but havent fished it yet.
