Yes it makes a differance but its a suble one. I found only small improvements on my Core 50 throwing small baits but on my Lews TP I get a lot more distance throwing a jig with a lazy little sidearm cast.

I think the secret is to use a leader and let it get frayed instead of the nano. One of the lakes me and Bluebasser fish has a lot of Zebras and they eat our line fast no matter what you use so you do have to constantly check your line.

7'6 MH Veritas is a decent and affordable jig rod.

If you are throwing grubs and tubes with 1/16 oz jigs the small diameter of nanofil can't be beat! I love the stuff.

Try the Aluminum brightener first! It's hard to make it look "even" with an abrasive... At least do a big spot on the bottom first including some rivet heads

I got as far as taking pics of some mags I was going to sell and then decided not to sell them. I did sell off my AK-47 and 74 mag collection early last year for $900... I wonder what they are worth now! I keep telling myself the rare collector mags probably haven't gone up in price a lot.

I understand, look on CL and see if you can't find something cheep enough you can buy and still get some bait. If your on the water you won't loose as much bait. Or go the air mattress route.

One word =STIFF Once you get it broke in it's OK but yea unless you are catching 10# fish I'd say try you probably wont like it. I have a spool in 25# & I'd like to try the 15# to see how it behaves... it may be a lot more tame-able.

I also use a LTP with ABE7 bearings. I'm not sure the bearings help a lot as far as the pitch goes but I also make a lot of sidearm casts and they free it up enough to be noticeable. I'd like to upgrade to a Core with the Flipping "button"? but I'm looking for another used one. I got a Core50 used for $220 and I can't justify anything above that in price. There are just way too many great reels to be had at way cheeper...
