The White River gloves cost under $5. I'd advise you get a pair with and without fingers. They aren't perfect but if it's not too cold and you can keep your hands dry they work great.

I have a small Gunsmith vise that I drilled a hole just larger than the pin diameter up at the top of one jaw. I put one side of the pin in the hole and tighten the vise down until the pin is flush with the shaft. I then remove the shaft from the vise and the pin will easily come the rest of the way out with pliers.

It will depend what your doing with it but I like the smaller diamiter of Nanofil but it has it's own set of problems.

Spinning it a must with a sensitive M-ML rod. If your not using Nanofil you are missing bites! The jig head is too light to have any feel on a larger diameter line.
