Washington County is turning one for all kinds of fishing. The woman had another outstanding afternoon. Smallie was 4.2lb from berkley digi scale and the trout we estimated about 22 inches.

I dont know if you can see it to well but all the bass has red/maroon eyes. Some were brighter than others,I just notice this today. I dont recall seeing other largemouth like this. They looked like demon fish. And yes i know rock bass/ goggle eye have red eyes.

Just got in from Lake Rooty landed 6 fish nothing under 2lb. Lost a 5lber at the sore trying to swing it up, that really killed me. Lost a couple others and seen some trailing the bait also. When the wind came it seems like it turned right on. Any one know why the fish eyes are red here. Never seen that on a large mouth?

been fishing the past two mornings at tom brooks lake. Caught one dinky bass today and 2 pickerel yesterday. Missed multiple fish today, seemed like they wouldnt commit to the bait. Using a bush hog T-rigged. I used a spinner bait today for a couple cast had one bass hit it repeatedly but couldnt set the hook in time. Find it odd how one fish can be all over the spinner bait but then no other fish had any interest in it .

Well im out of town working in the richmond area looking for fishing spots and have had some very helpfull reasources.( Sam, WdyCrankbait ) i have built up a list of spots to check out. Monday morning i went over to lake rooty didnt have any luck there. Not discouraged ill try it out again It looks like it should have a fish or 2 i can hook up with. Thursday morning I went over to tom brooks lake and started at the pond beside 64. About 10 cast in i pulled out my first largemouth only about a 1Lb 1/2. Right after landing that fish the next cast produced a chain pickerel. Caught 2 more in this little pond before moving down to the fist pond. There was alot of activity in this little pond couldnt tell is all the fish rolling on the spinner bait were pickerel or bass. I drove down to the fisrt pond started my way around the pond and again about my 10th cast pulled another small largemouth out from under a tree falliin in the water. Made my way to the middle pond skunked there but no worries. On my way back to the car i stopped at 2 spots i liked on the fist pond walked out onto a fallen tree with a deep hole and trew the spinner bait out and let it fall with a slow retrieve and had a big cat allmost suck it in. I pulled it away didnt want to deal with it. Last stop before the car i pulled one more pickerel out. It was a allright morning would like to hook up with more bass but any fish is fun. Headin home for the weekend to search for some hogs in my home water but next week i will be back out in richmond looking for the perfect pond or maybe a spot on the james to hook into a smallie.

Heddon bullfrog torpedo - cast and retrieve Zoom super fluke disco violet or green - weightless rig sporadic retrieve with occasional sink (floro line) GYM 5'' sinko green pumpkin w/green and purple - split shot weightless rig or wacky (floro line) Right bite baits salty tube 3 1/2 green pumpkin purple - 1/8 bite me jig head work bottom or drag bottom (floro line) Mizmo 4'' big boy tube - blue craw same as above Strike king 1.5 or rapala crankin rap - ( mono line) This is whats been producing smallmouth for me up to date but this year im trying to expand my lures and tactics. spinner baits , LC pointers , shakey heads , Jigs, baby rage craw, big grubs, ect......

Last year June,July, and August i worked on the Target in Front Royal and never got a chance to drive over to the river and try it out. Kinda wish i did now. Thats how I found out about Lake Frederick. Im working in Richmond threw the week days on night shift till June and just got my Va licenes. Im trying to fiind some good spots worth fishing down here. There is water everywhere down here. Fished Rooty lake yesterday but no luck. I come home on the weekends and head stright to the river, soon as i get my new stickers for the boat ill be on the prowl for them Toads.

How is the small mouth fishing in the Doah.

I know where Berryville is, i have done some hunting on Pyle town rode over in Boyce. This stretch of water I was fishing is called Tailors Landing and has a 2 boat ramps. Its below dam 4 and above Snyders landing. I was hoping to catch some more smallies but the largemouth wouldn't leave my jig alone. The Veritas is a bad *** rod for the money i would buy more but i just started getting into building my own rods and gonna be trying out MHX blanks. Hot Rod have you ever fished Lake Frederick off 522?

Wolf is shut down. Beaver pond is one of my favorite spots biggest so far i have seen was 5lb out of there.. Went to tailors landing this morning fishing was great.

Beaver pond behind big pool. Check this pond out. Dont let it fool you there are some big largmouth in that little body of water. Outdoor school pond is another spot for largemouth. When the potomace gets low head to tailors landing and do some wading there are largemouth here aswell. One day the smallmouth will be hitting good here the next day the largemouth can be hitting. or a 40 inch musky be ready. conococheague creek holds the best smallmouth fishing if you ask me. Higher quality fish in this water system. Williamsport hot wall and river bottom, walk to the 81 bridge and fish between the islands there are largmouth in here. dam 4 (big slack) slower fishing bigger overall fish, of course his is my Personal Opinion same with dam 5. Deff watch out for the boat drag races and the foot skiers They dont give a ****. Blairs vally has lunkers once you find them. Sharpsburge pond is real clear and lots of grass. weaightless worm or fluke will pull acouple out, they are great looking fish. Indian springs pond has largies. There are many other spots to list and plenty of differnt species to fish for. I would say when you arive here make sure to check out wolfs for some pictures of what every one is catching but its shut down. If i were you i would turn into a smallmouth fisherman buy a canoe and float the potomac.

Im out of town and working in richmond till june. Trying to find some ponds or lakes close to the area that are public and has decent shore fishing. I have the itch and i need to get a line wet. Anybody?

I have not yet caught a smallie on a spinner bait, but i havnt really put alot of effort into it. This year im gonna learn the trick to entice a strike.
