  1. They found there way into the water up here.
  2. Cold snap didn't hurt the river. 2 small Muskie and 5 smallies about a hour ago.
  3. Plan to be back at black hills Sunday as long as my ohio trip goes well Saturday.
  4. Something about being alone on the water helps me clear my head, learn new techniques, be patient, and relax. Kind of gives me that feeling of being separated from real life.
  5. 5,4,and 3lbrs. Only three caught on what should have been a grand slam day. Started the day out struggling and when Allen came down the bank after me and caught one on what seemed like the 5th pitch it really had me asking myself if I should have just stayed home and looked for the smallies. I know these pictures all look the same but they were weighed on my boga grip. It's hard getting good pics by yourself. Go pro will be on board next time. good meeting you Allen, I can put a face to the name now.
  6. Way out Allen.
  7. Does anyone know why big pool is 4 to 5 feet lower than usual for this time a year?
  8. Historically this lake provided excellent trophy bass, crappie, and northern pike fishing. The 1979-1994 state record largemouth bass was caught from the lake and several trophy citation bass, crappie, and pike have been reported. Trolling deep-running plugs has been a productive method of landing bass, especially in early spring. Best crappie baits are small jigs and minnows while fly fishing can produce nice stringers of bluegill. Best fishing occurs in standing timber areas and around clumps of aquatic vegetation. (West V. Dnr) They catch bass all winter long threw the ice there and I have herd reports of them catching bass now. Try it out. Don't let people discourage you about it being tough.
  9. Way2slow thank you for the info. It's a good thing my friend works at interstate batterie. I think I'm going to try both set ups and see how each will perform.
  10. I'm think I'm going to convert my 80lb minn kota to a 101lb and I'm curious to the people running a 101 allready and what batteries they are you using and what is your battery life. I currently am running 2 interstate DC-27 for my 80lb and it will last all day. I was thinking of running 3 DC-24 for my potential 101 swap. Anyone out there have any info with this?
  11. Did some late night walley fishing fir and sat. Walleyes are spawned out and males are milking. Friday night landed two walley both over the slot. First one was 6lb and then other slightly smaller. Hooked up and successfully landed a 42 inch musky while while fishing. Set the hook on 3 other fish that night but they all 3 straightened out the hook. Saturday night I didn't have any luck but my good friend and his dad brought a couple nice ones in. I'm done with walleyes for the year time for bassin. Here is the pic of my buds dad with two of his walleye from sat day and night.
  12. Went out last evening on the hunt for some walleye but came up empty handed. Managed to land my new personal best potomac river smallmouth. He weighd in at 3-1/2 pounds on the boga grip and a tad over 19 inches. I dropped a grub in behind a log along the bank in a slack pool and felling the thump I thought walleye. I can only imagine the look on my face when I seen the smallie.
  13. I go with tube. I have other baits that will slay smallies in different conditions but a tube will work anytime of the year in any condition.
  14. I'll have to be on water temperature watch for black hills.
  15. Is black hills opening this Saturday?
  16. The water is alive!!!!
  17. Do you have any samples of your work? Wouldn't want you to make a batch and I dislike them
  18. The color right now has random flake from various melted down plastics. I could say it's my prototype. I have some ideas I would like to incorporate. I'm gonna get some supplies and try to dip a few. Dipping tubes is just plain boring but o well. Gonna develop a color I have complete confidence in.
  19. Lol Allen. I haven't got to try these yet. I melted down a buch of old plastics trying to get this color. Maybe I'll just buy some plastisol and coloring and try it myself.

Does any one think they could recreate this color with a smokey purple tail with black flake.
  21. I had a bucoo for lipless baits but the grip was to big for my hand and it seem to make it cramp up. Then shut the but end in the car door and destroyed it. I would pick another one up for 25 bucks though.
  22. The most musky I have seen in the water in one day has been 9 and the was below dam 4.
  23. Check out this 10.9 my buddy caught last river rise. I was suppose to be out with him but fell asleep before he got off work. Dam 4 and 5 are the most popular spots from boat and from bank in certain areas. I don't usually chase eyes or muskys so I couldn't put you in the best spot. The dams usually concentrate the fish when they move up and give you the best chance to catch another state record.
  24. You need to get up behind the dams and you won't be disappointed.
