  1. if you are going to show off, at least explain it to the uninitiated...
  2. I think this thread is about to set with the sun...
  3. I just orderd a BB1pro for my cranking set up........ Ron from valley sports had a really good price on it.
  4. just read the blog....... seems like his main point was they will be moved up move than some people might expect because of day lenght. and the bass will come in and out, waiting for the stable warmth to get bedded down..... sure he did say he has seen on bed fish in upper 40's, but that is an execption not the rule. KVD was hammering home something I have heard CATT say before.... "it starts before you think it does"
  5. LMAO....... I could be wrong, it just doesnt seem right though..... upper 40s seems maybe on the curve of a smallmouth. but upper 40s seems awlful cold for incubation. I dont doubt for a bit they will begin to move up then, but to lay eggs in that cold of water, that will be a new one to me. I defer to Catt, and WRB... I'll take their word for it over just about anybody.
  6. I got old time locals that swear by the March full moon, and I dont discount that. BUT, a bass aint laying eggs in 50 degree water, I dont care what the moon says. thats my opinion. it is a big combo of moon, photo lenght, and temp and water level (if in tidal or river system)
  7. I thought I have read the mortaility rate is very, very high, upwards to like 80% or so....... can someone verify or bunk this?
  8. then what do you make?
  9. there are crooked people and crooked cops/GW/DNR. don't let a bad apple ruin the bunch. We just want to fish, they just want to do thier job and go home (like the rest of us) sure there are picky game wardens and cool game wardens. There are many obscure rules/regs to being on the water...... make sure you read your states manual.
  10. I have learned! to the OP: and what have learned is you can't fish it slow enough. cast it out...eat a sammich if you have to.... twitch.... drink a beverage.... catch a fish. also, read road warrior's thread on the topic "guarenteed to catch fish" in the best of bass resource section. or come the roadtrip and Glenn will give lessons free of charge!
  11. I tend to disagree with this...... I feel bites and "ticks" on slack line flouro fishing senkos.
  12. WTG! Pmoss...... welcome to our little personal challenge.
  13. we wouldn't think of dropping a skiier in the water when it's like this. ^^^^ that's always my deal...... I don't ski but I would NEVER want to just be bobbing up and down out in the middle of a busy lake with a bunch of crazy non driving half drunks. LOL
  14. yeah once I posted I got to thinking about the organs too........ I'll ask him in the morning. I do know the way he does it, there is 0% chance of freezer burn and can last forever basically he said. He is in his middle 60s and has done it all the old school ways and he told me how he started to do it a few years ago was the best tasting he ever had....... I am not a fish eater so I don't know.
  15. whoops...... my apologies.
  16. if you have one of the vacuum sealer deals, that is the best way to do it. put the fish in whole and seal it....... when you get ready to eat it, it taste like you just caught it.
  17. I know, fishinginthedacks was the one disagreeing. personally I think the rule is stupid, because like my friend, he keeps bluegill and crappie, "stockpiling" then eats fish all year long..... he never keeps more than the limit on any trip. for anyone to be able to check a man's freezer for fish caught legally over time is silly to me. I know what you said is 100 percent correct...
  18. I didn't know there was BAD vension jerky
  19. even I can beat those numbers !!!!!
  20. technically that is not what the warden point blank said....... the creel limit is 50, and possession is 100. according to the warden, if you have 101 bluegill in your freezer you are over the limit.
  21. don't forget either..........possession limit extends to your freezer at home, fact. I had a friend of mine have a game warden show up at his door because someone told the warden he had 100s of bluebill in his freezer...... which he did at one time, but not when the warden showed up. you are not protected, so don't think you are.
  22. I guess we played a game of "hold what you catch"
  23. Pickwick gets fairly busy too..... when trying to fish a main river ledge there is nothing like a 38 foot Fountian rolling by you, or even a 40+ foot Sea Ray. I swear the heat must make people stupid..... last year I saw a mastercraft pulling a tube full of kids swing right in front of a 3 deep, 2 wide barge.
  24. Arv and the boys nailed it for you....... enjoy the new stick!
  25. question: 15# or 20# main line? not wanting to hijack, but not going to start a new thread.
