  1. just charge it and after a while check the battery with a multimeter to ensure it is indeed charged. 2a will be much slower than 6a. since the needle is in the "charge" range now, check it now and then again in the moring to see if there is any change.
  2. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/133430-does-u-guys-use-backing-when-spooling-a-new-reel/page-2? in post 18 in the linked thread I post 2 link to past threads outlining backing methods.
  3. so it seems for normal jigs and whatnot I can stick with my TPs for cranking I am hearing a SLIGHT edge to the BB1pro even if only the reason is a better IPT for deeper cranks (21") thanks, overall it might just be a coin flip, lol.

  5. I threw a dt10 on a st Croix avid MH mod last week , and I have to say I liked it.... I liked it enough that it made me want to crank. I have no idea where the avid is in the st Croix line though.

  7. go to siebertoutdoors.com (board sponsor) and look at his extreme shaky head with the deep throats. I just ordered 20 each of the 1/8, 1/4, and 3/8 oz! only a $1 each!!
  8. ok .... I got a question so I am bumping this thread as my question is the same........ but for crankbaits. ordered a new mid diver (think DT10 to 5xd rod) which one is going to give me the better performance in the crankbait arena? how much bigger is the BB1pro in your hand than the TP? does it really throw it THAT FAR?.... I have supertuned with Boca TPs now, so it needs to impress me. on paper from what I can find the only thing I "don't like" about the BB1pro is the shiny black, I have come to like the muted gray of the TP.
  9. generally the cheapest 12# mono I can find I got a 1200 yard spool of 12# BPS brand a long time ago, so I use that.
  10. no matter the side of the isle you are on.....this is proof once elected people go full stupid. fishing IS THE ECONOMIC ENGINE of G'ville. all the hotels, gas stations, resturaunts, ect ect are fueled by FISHING at G'vill not skiers. no grass, no G'ville. where are the enviromentalist when you need them?
  11. I have a set up that has had the same tatsu on it for over a year now. I use backing and put 65 yds of topshot on.
  12. simple answer is yes.... use backing and only put 65 yds of tatsu on each reel , you get 3 reels that way that is what I have on my squarebill rod........ I dont have a true verdict, but I think I am going back to tatsu even for cranks
  13. as stated the reel seats are different and that makes a difference on what feels comfortable in your hands. other reasons: 1. do you prefer a for grip or not. I dont so I like Dobyns, Loomis users generally like a fore grip. 2. weight which one is heavier? easy to fish all day. 3. lenghts you prefer both are quality product and both can be knocked, and praised. take your pick. I really like my dobyns, they fit me and my style.
  14. my lews 7.1 does 31 IPT that seems as fast as I would ever ever need. the handle size point mentioned earlier is a very good point, one that I will keep in mind when setting up crankin sticks
  15. 1.wire tied (yes I know many do that but it still adds value) 2.solid colors, with custom options...... ask mike some of the crazy things I have asked him "is it possible" and yes I am still plotting in my mind before I send in my new order 3. is a strong jig fisherman himself, he wont sell what he wont fish 4. Owner deep throats!!! BEST... JIG... HOOK... EVER.
  16. I dont want to spin the OP out and have him thinking crazy........ but here goes. first question is should you choose your color based on water clarity or the color of the crawfish in your lake? I use 3 colors..... black and blue, greenpumpkin with orange(think bama craw or the Jfrancho color) and PBJ. you will be hard pressed to find a better 3 colors than that, all of them catch fish in all water colors. it has been said Bass see 3 times as far as humans..... so if the water is 3 foot visablity then a bass can see 9 foot in it. (whether that is true or not I have know Idea)
  17. I think, based on past discussions Grant and I line up fairly well on what rods we like within in line up.... if Grant gives his blessing then I feel you got a pretty good list. there are several great Dobyns users here on the boards!
  18. I got the girlfriend's boys a zebco 33 (I think) and some 5'6 uncle bucks rods at bass pro. they handle 1/4oz swim jigs and 5/16 spinnerbaits well. but they really dont go with me unless it bream season and we get some crickets..... at least then they can fight over who gets to but the fish in the livewell if they get bored.
  19. that sounds NICE!!!
  20. I have a question......... why are people telling the OP to throw a 3/4oz swimbait on 25#+ line? I mean a 6xd crank weights more, so I don't get it? now if the OP was asking 3 or 4 oz swimbait I would understand. can someone clarify?
  21. sierbert outdoors extreme shakeyhead with the owner deepthroats!
  22. most guys prefer a really soft tip with a jerkbait. the reason is so when you "jerk" the bait dips, ducks, darts, dives and dodge but does not move forward a bunch.
  23. your colors look good Black and Blue - heavy stained/muddy I also know guys that throw it 100% of the time muddy or clear Green Pumpkin with orange - sight color to clear PBJ - very lightly colored to very clear. I carry three sizes.... 1/4. 1/2. and 3/4..... all football heads it is debatable whether I should have 3/8 or not. But I have found I do not have a need for it. if I am throwing the 1/4 I am less than 6 fow..... I start throwing the 1/2 in 8fow that falls off pretty quickly. It is really all based on how, where you do your fishing. Personally I have found for me, I like to err on the size of heavy. I also carry 1/4 and 1/2 sexy chartruse swim jigs, only that one color, and only 2 sizes. and with all the jig questions, you will be hard pressed to find a simpler, cost effective jig box that catches more fish, IMO(but I am highly biased) Counting my jigs from last year, the one I lost the most of, which equates to the one I threw the most was 1/2 green pumpkin with orange..... next was 3/4 PBJ. I throw a bunch of PBJ and bama craw (GP w/ orange) where I fish the most. unlike most people I have no confidence in black/blue..... and the reason I dont is I dont HAVE to fish dirty water much, so I dont throw it much....I literally throw it 1% of the time..... which is funny cause it used to be all I threw when I first started fishing, so I really need to start thrwoing the ole BnB again even in slightly colored water, I offered my advice to the OP based on general principles, 3/8 black and blue jig will do what he needs it to do, based on what he wants to do, which is start out on the jig. I am no jig guru, but I have been blessed to fish and learn from what I consider pretty dang good jig fishermen, so I consider myself a "jig guy" more than anything to be a jig guy, is just like to be a spinnerbait guy, crankin guy ect ect: KNOW what you like(trail and error), throw it like you own it, and know you are going to catch fish on it... and believe all of that while you are at it..... once you feel that THUNK THUNK of a jig bite you will sell your soul to feel it agian, and again, and again. I know I do things fishing I jig that I could never explain to a person becasue I dont notice I do them... you will be the same, the OP will be the same..... and its the same with any bait you will throw, you will find your own style. A jig is not a magic wand, but it is a rush to flip into a bush or tree top and feel that stud thump it.... or to cast out on a ledge in 15 foot of water and see so much slack knocked in your line you swear its moby dick when you set the hook! no drug can ever come close to that thrill.
  24. it is from its mane sir! Try to get it right next time
  25. little to no memory, VERY abrasion resistant, little strech, great knot strenght, ect ect. many people, including me have sung very detailed praises in the past, search for tatsu here on the boards and you shall find all you want to know.
