Swimbait Reel
yes and no. At first I think I was as I would like to stay with "low profile" as it is what I am used to...... but then again I don't know anything about round reels so I really should not X them without proper education on them. so educate me, in a few paragraphs/sentances if you can. What makes a round better? pros/cons of low profile vs round ? this will be for swimbaits 1-5oz stuff/Arig stuff THANKS

How Much Line Do I Need On My Reel?
the easiest/simplest way to do it: 1.fill reel all the way with mono. same size as your top shot you will use is preferred. 2 make the longest cast you will ever make with that rod with the heaviest lure. 3.now mark the line/ tie it to something/ have you buddy hold it 4. walk out to your lure 5. you have now doubled the distance of your longest cast 6. fill the reel with "top shot" 7. you now have your reel with backing and 2 cast worth of "top shot" ^this is the easiest way to do it but I actually do it a little different which involves measuring the line out and using 2 reels to transfer the line but I am anal about things sometimes.

How Much Line Do I Need On My Reel?
120 yards or full capacity...........but only 60 yards or so needs to be "top shot" aka, the good stuff. I take a 200 yard spool and do 3 reels with it. 65 yards is plenty to give cut offs, re ties, break offs, ect. technique also varies the "top shot used"......... drop shot, shakey head, flipping sticks can all get 40 yards, normal jig/worm rods can get 50, crank sticks or long casting needs the full 65 yards. other than my drop shot and shakey head all mine have 65 yards just to keep it simple, but there are options.

I am going to say most any 20 foot glass boat can be handled with a 1/2ton/1500. I personally have a Ram 1500 Longhorn 4x4 (32gal gas tank)

Need A New Jig/worm Rod.
sounds like "manufacture defect" you pay shipping. which is the same as Dobyns, but if you go retard(like I do), another $40 (since you already have to pay the $20 for shipping) gets you new plastic on the handle no matter what.

Need A New Jig/worm Rod.
what is the cumara warrantee? I have snapped a Dobyns under a boat cleat before and $60 gets me a brand new one, cant beat a warrantee that covers "dummy" lol

Fishing Line For Swim Baits
many swimbait guys use 25# mono according to my reading. some guys, like Matt Allen use all braid. Both have their place it seems, pros and cons. Braid is a ***** when it backlashes, but rarely breaks or "fails" Most alabama rig guys chunk braid. Mono, well once you get ONE kink, its done, IMO I would like to hear more on the discussion too, as I am a novice and want to learn all I can about the bigger bait chunkin. I will probaly use a mixure of all 3......some mono for topwater, flouro when stroking and braid when using arig/really expensive baits

Swimbait Rod
got to call on the swimbait guys. I am wanting to enter the fray on chunking these and debating the rod I should choose. I want to narrow it down to one rod for general purpose swimbaitin' but know deep down I will wind up with two rods down the rod, but for starters I only want one to make sure I like and enjoy tossing these big baits. Rods I am debating: Dobyns 795 ML or standard 806 ML or standard Lowdown customs (production or custom) Medium heavy Heavy here is what I think I might throw 1-1.5oz heads with 5-6" bighammers 6" bull shads mostly but MAYBE the 9" if I like throwing swimbaits 6-8" lunker punkers blackdog shellcracker 7-9" slammers Arigs with 1/4oz heads and 4-5" bighammer/grubs/roboshad and maybe even big 1oz+ swimjigs
