  1. Xcite bait Maximus or Dichosa Anaconda ( same mold).

I don't think slow is always the answer, I usually use a 3/8 sinker but sometimes I do better with the 1/2 oz. For a different look, try the Xcite Maximus ( 10" straight tail worm) with a 1/2 oz 8/0 mag titleshot jig. I did very well with this combo last year and it caught a better grade of fish for me than the ribbontail type of worms.
  3. I use it when throwing an 8" Hudd . Just kidding 6 lb is as light as go but if you keep your drag loose or learn to backreel you will probably land the majority of fish that bite if your not around heavy cover. I've been throwing something similar to the Ned Kehde rig long before In Fisherman brought it to the public's attention about 3-4 years ago. I use a 1/16 oz Gopher mushroom head jig made with a #6 Gama hook superglued to a 3" Yum Dinger or Senko. Falls with a slow death spiral, very good bait for calm bluebird days in the summer when fishing clear water.
  4. If I'm fishing an area where I'm confident that the fish are there I sometimes will pause the jig and rock the head back and forth and then scoot ahead a few inches, I've had some vicious strikes from seemingly inactive bass doing that especially when the water temp is under 50 in the fall. Sometimes it takes app 1 minute per cast so be patient.
  5. I appreciate the tip, whether I do it probably depends on what's involved and how long it takes to see if justifies the time involved in replacing a 5$ bait.
  6. Productive cranks, I've bought a few dozen and have had a couple fill up with water. Since they are relatively inexpensive I'm willing to overlook the occasional dud. My opinion on Strike King overall is they've hit some homeruns with the design of some of their recent offerings such as the Red Eye Shad, 6XD etc but their quality control could be better.
  7. I hate to clutter this thread but this is another real good post on this subject. Great thread guys and lots of good info. I've caught fish on frogs but certainly don't consider myself an expert as I tend to rely on crankbaits & swimbaits as my preferred methods but I'm all ears with frog fishing as I intend on utilizing this technique more. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
  8. Thanks for the reply, I've been tempted to add this one to the rotation. Looks like I will pick up a couple of them next time I'm purchasing frogs. It's definitely a bait that's piqued my interest and is unique offering in this category of lures.
  9. Cool picture South FLA. How do you like that Deps Frog ? Anyway based on the ones I have tried so far I prefer the Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog & the Spro Popper frog.
  10. Lucky Craft RC 1.5 Ghost Minnow, I also like the 3.5 Purple/ Chartreuse for first light early in the morning.
  11. I like the Pit Boss & Grass Pig.
  12. I only fished it for a few minutes the other day, turns out the fish were crushing a chrome Yozuri Rattlin' Vibe in slightly deeper water. Rigged it on 7/0 davis 1/4 oz keel hook with retainer. It stayed up higher in the water column than a regular skinny dipper would have with the same amount of weight which it would be expected on a larger soft plastic. Really liked how it looked in the water, of course the fish will ultimately decide if it's a mainstay in my tackle box I will certainly update as it get's more time in the water.
  13. I have a few bags coming in from tackle warehouse and just wanted to see if anyone is having success with the bigger size and how you are rigging them. Thanks
  14. The opposite for me, started throwing the 8" Hudd last summer and within 5 minutes caught a 5-1/2lber to initiate me and stuck some others since then. I can't catch fish so far on the regular 6" Hudd or the Hudd 68. I think certain swimbaits have the right combination of vibration patern & size and it will be a variable for each lake. If you haven't given up on the these baits try the inline 7" Rago BVD in a light Hitch color, this one is my confidence bait and has gotten bites on a number of different lakes.
  15. Also, try the oil filled tranluscent Sebile Flatt Shad. The painted baits seem to be a knocker style.I also like the Damiki tremor that Packard mentioned.
  16. That's why I enjoy this forum, people expose me to lures & techniques that I'm not familiar with. I'm going to try a few of the River Rock baits, looks like a cool idea and that something that's a little different to show the fish, thanks for sharing. Regarding the SuprFluke, as mentioned fishing it weightless and twitching it like a soft jerkbait is effective. I've also had success with the " Petey " rig that Peter T. used to win a tournament a few years back by fishing a 12" leader C-rig with a 1/16 oz weight which gives the bait a slow death spiral
  17. It varies by the day & lake but I tend to do my best on Ghost, Bluegill, White & Gold patterns. Lately Ghost has been my hottest color for the clearwater lakes I fish.
  18. The Rattlin' Vibe is definetely one of the top performing lipless cranks in my opinion, I do replace the hooks.
  19. Thanks for the update.
  20. I wish Edwin Evers never did that segment. I've made a few post about this because I caught my best stringer of the year with this rig. I used the Xcite worm with a 1/2 oz 8/0 Titleshot. Seemed like I was consistantly getting bigger bites over the 10" ribbontail worm rigged with a slip sinker.
  21. Lipless... RedEye Shad Sebile Flat Shad ( liquid filled silent version) Spro Aruka Shad Yozuri Square Bill... Lucky Crft RC 1.5 Strike King Shallow... Rapala DT6 Mid Depth... Storm Wiggle Wart Rapala DT 10 C Flash Deep... Spro DD Strike King 6XD Jackle Muscle Deep 16 Plus
  22. The gunfish is one of the most versatile topwater baits on the market and flat out catches 'em.
  23. It's Pradco's rip-off of the Moreau frog, not an original idea but like the Senko copies it will catch fish.
  24. When you see a 3lb bass choke down a 8" Hudd that weighs 5ozs it tends to change your perspective on what a big bait is. I'm not saying big baits are right for every situation but they are much more effective not only for size but numbers than most people realize especially large topwaters. That bait would be a mid size bait in my line-up.
