  1. I am the OP, and the original topic was about the BPS Pro Qualifier. Maybe I should have never mentioned the Shimano reels, but I hate when a topic is started with a question about a specific brand and somebody else mentions a completely different product. A Chronarch is twice as much as a PQ, and maybe deservedly so, but I wouldn't mention a Zillion or a Pixy in a post about Chronarchs. Back to the original topic, which is what I want to actually get info about... I posted this on another forum and got some info about swapping Revo worm gear and pawls since they are titanium coated. Would that be worth it? Even if it is a little steep, I think that I'm going to "pimp" out one of my PQs, even if it costs me as much as a new reel during the Classic, just to see if I notice the differences. Thanks again for all of the helpful replies.
  2. Thanks for all the replies guys. I sent my reels to a different guy last year I found on a different site and was happy, but maybe I'll send some off to DVT this off-season. Thanks again everyone.
  3. Please read the first sentence of my post. YOU are the specific reason I emphasized the meaning of my post, but, obviously that initial disclaimer wasn't enough for you.
  4. I'm a PQ fan, and while I might try a Curado or Chronarch next season, this topic is what can be done to my Pro Qualifiers, I currently have 5 of them. I've read about Carbontex drags and ceramic bearing upgrades. Would these be applicable withmy PQ? I guess what I'm looking for is, what after market upgrades could I do to my PQs that would've worth it for the money? I really don't know what the bearing upgrades mean and what the benefits would be, so any help there would be much appreciated also. Thanks,
  5. I bought 2 bottles and they will be my last. I did as the instructions and warnings stated, and this stuff is still a mess. Maybe it works better if you apply it to the bag directly with a syringe but I could not get this stuff to quit leaking out from underneath the lid, and it made my hands stink. There's no doubt that this stuff is potent but I can't say I got any more bites with it.
  6. I've tried the Rage and they look good, but I have the most confidence in a Yum Crawbug. It looks the most natural and produces the best for this guy.
  7. I've got 5 of the and have yet to find a reason to spend any more one reel.
  8. I just got back from a trip to Minnesota and can tell you that a Yum Crawbug far outshined the Rage Chunk and Baby Craw. Maybe it was just the conditions, but I can tell you I just found my new favorite jig trailer. The smaller pincers are also far more durable than the Rage products; I'll post a pic tomorrow.
  9. RW, Do you use this technique in place of another, say a spinnerbait, or look for particular situations to use this technique? I am intrigued by this technique and recently loaded up on some LFT Magic Shads. I've got a trip to MN coming up on Friday and am looking to smoke my buddies and show the fish something they haven't seen; these guys throw spinnerbaits religiously.
  10. Despite what RW tells you, my favorite swim jig trailer is a Yum 3.5" Money Minnow
  11. Are they for sale yet? They say 'out' at TW.
  12. This is one case where, unfortunately, I'm going to have to give the edge to Cabela's. Their rod covers have more fabric material and cover more of the blank, and have a drawstring thay snugs up under your reel. Just my opinion, and keep in mind, I much prefer BPS to Cabela's for everything else.
  13. Try a different or bigger lure. I can slam 12" at a local pond with a Zoom Finesse Worm, but upped my average catch size by using a jig and bigger swimbait. Little bass will still hit bigger lures, but it also ups your chances of catching a bigger fish in my opinion.
  14. Got mine today; love the hooks on th swim jig. Thanks!
  15. I've got 2 of the spinning rods, and like them a lot so far.
  16. Love the crappie pattern! WOW!
  17. Zoom Trick worm. This will catch fish all day, all year long.
  18. Thanks for the advice guys. I don't mind losing a few baits either, but I hate leaving a hook in a fish... I've heard the same thing about pike and bass, but, IMO, they're both predators and will position themselves in similar ambush areas.
  19. I'm sure this has been discussed before but I couldn't find the old threads. I'm heading to Minnesota in 2 weeks for some bass fishing in lakes that contain pike. I'd prefer not to use a steel leader since I'll be targeting bass primarily. I've never bass fished in lakes with a lot of pike and would prefer to minimize my lures lost, but I don't want to use a steel leader unless absolutely necessary. Any other ideas or techniques you've used in this same situation? Thanks in advance.
  20. Anybody familiar with this lake? My buddies and I are headed up there in 2 weeks and this will be my first time. They're good guys but more interested in beers than bass, and I'd love any info I could get on this lake or any tips. Thanks in advance.
  21. Thanks Big-O. Just put an order in to TW for some norr craws in preparation for my smallie trip to MN.
  22. I see you left out the Rage Craw that he already mentioned did not work. The guy is asking for advice not plugs for baits. I'd start with a Spook early, then onto a fluke. If that wasn't working, I'd try to speed it up with a squarebill or spinnerbait. If you've already had luck with the spinnerbait, try a swim jig or chatterbait to give them a different look. Good luck.
  23. Where? TW, BPS, Cabelas retail the Veritas for $100.
  24. If you search eBay for "Abu Garcia Veritas", the first selections are a guy selling them for $80 with free shipping. Bought a 6'9" micro last week, and just won another "Buy it Now" for a Winch.
