  1. I've always done well with the a Yum Dinger and a Yum Crawbug around the bed. This year I plan on using the BPS Pesky Perch come spawn time. I cannot wait, especially with all the lakes locked up around here right now. One thing is for sure, I'll be well stocked when open water season is here. When I can't fish, I just seem to buy more and more lures.
  2. Lockout over? Didn't know there was one to begin with. Lockout over, who cares?
  3. I agree. I'll be in Denver watching Peyton's first playoff game in Denver, and hopefully Ray Lewis' last game in the NFL. GO BRONCOS!
  4. So you're aware, not everyone on here reads all of your posts. I had this same problem, and it still is not working on my phone. The site seems to be a lot slower on my phone as well.
  5. Who throttled Denver on the road in the last 7 games?
  6. This was actually my favorite part of the show and I wish they would institute it in the Elite and FLW series. I cannot stand watching these guys flip 3 lb. bass in the boat, holding it down with their shoe, (which I have seen on a FLW Tournament coverage show), and then throwing the non-keepers over the side in disgust of the don't measure. I'd rather see them take weight than time and would guess that would be more manageable in most tournament settings, but at least this is a start.
  7. Looks like some good deals for sure, but around here, I don't think that the Red Eye Shad retails for $7.59 or the Havoc baits for $3.49.
  8. X2. I never bought one because of the price, but logic set in and I bit the bullet on a $15 one from Bass Pro. I saved 2 LC 1.5s last year, and a SK Series 5 in the same trip. That $37 in saved lures more than paid for that retriever. P.S. I was fishing from a canoe at the time and have never tried the retriever from the bank.
  9. For soft plastics, I think that Zoom provides good quality and quantity for a reasonable price, same with Bass Pro brand. For hard baits, I think that Bass Pro, Strike King and Bandit won't break the bank. I have some more "expensive" lures as well. Rage Tail, Lucky Craft, Yamamoto, Megabass, Spro, etc... Some people swear by them and some people swear at them, and I'm 50/50. When it comes right down to it, I feel very confident that I could get by with a pack of black Zoom Trick Worms and a bluegill colored Strike King KVD 1.5 on 90% of my fishing trips. One helpful hint is to buy 2-3 colors of baits instead of everything in the lineup. Zoom makes lots of colors and you can quickly empty your wallet and room in your tackle bag if you buy all 50 some colors they offer for the Trick Worm. I make it a point to buy black and green pumpkin for most of the plastics I buy and shad based colors for Jerkbaits or baitfish imitators. These are the colors I have the most confidence in and what I would throw anyways, even if I had methiolate, bubblegum and junebug on board. Good luck!
  10. Both are good rods, can't go wrong with either. I have 2 CL spinning rods and 5 Veritas casting rods if that helps, and I love them. I like the Veritas rods better than my Mojos that I got rid of, but I don't think you can miss either way.
  11. Ended up getting 2 for about, exactly, $500 on StubHub. Tried to get them on Ticketmaster but to no avail, and they were going fast. The wife is planning all sorts of non-football activities, but I'm going for the game. GO BRONCOS!
  12. Hmmm... Sounds like a popular reel at half price that is getting discontinued. Sounds good to me. I like this approach better than downgrading the components, changing the paint job and charging the same price. Thank you Johnny Morris.
  13. Anybody know when these are due in? TW has been saying 12/24 on the website, and I just ordered 9 packs that are saying they'll be in on 1/16. BPS has all 3 sizes listed, but they also look like they're out of stock. I started with the 4", but the smaller size seems right up my alley.
  14. I've been to 7 games in Denver, but never at the original "Mile High". We're going no matter what, and I know that scalpers are probably a safe bet, but I'm just very hesitant on the "what if" scenario. GO BRONCOS!
  15. Thank you sir. I'd hate to fly all the way to Denver without tix, but appreciate the info.
  16. Has anybody, by chance, been to a NFL playoff game? Right now I'm waiting to see how week 17 plays out so I know where the Broncos are sitting, but I will be going to Denver for the game. After last year's OT win against the Steelers, I told myself I wouldn't miss that again. Will probably be looking at StubHub for tix, but if anybody knows where I can get tix or has a good idea of what prices will be looking like, I'd love to hear it. Thanks.
  17. Excellent feedback RW; wouldn't expect anything less from a mod, awesome. To the OP, you can search several threads on this forum and get the same advice VinnieT already gave you. Most reels in the $100 price range will be satisfactory and quality (Citica, RevoS, Pro Qualifier, Carbonlite, etc....) I would recommend the Pro Qualifier from Bass Pro. It retails for $100, but can often be found for $80, especially during the Spring Classic if you can hold out for a little while. Good luck.
  18. Thanks, I was just wondering what proof they would need for date of purchase.
  19. Does anyone know if you're supposed to register your rods, and if so, how? I registered my new St. Croix online, and wanted to know if I could do that worth my Abu.
  20. Can anybody recommend any new soft plastic Jerkbaits? I primarily use flukes and am looking for some new options. Has anybody tried the Castaic Jerky J? Or the Berekley Jerk shad? Those are 2 new ones that I've noticed, any others? Thanks guys.
  21. Threw one a couple of times, but it was hard to keep down. I was probably reeling too fast, but it's hard to slow down much more than that for me, so i went back to my dependable Yum Money Minnow.
  22. It sorrows me to say that I actually agree with RW. Huge Broncos fan and I cannot wait until the playoffs
  23. That would work if he could use a jig, which he already said, and I quote, "Itll be impossible to use a jig". Having said that, I would fish something slow, and methodically. Like basser said, I wouldn't pick this time of year to start throwing a Scum Frog, but the weather in Nebraska is a little different than in KY.
  24. Pro Qualifier matches your requirements. I own all available gear ratios for this reel and have yet to be disappointed.
