Go to the flw website it has all the tourny info preregister for what ever tourny you want to fish I if you want a spot don't try to register day of tourny you won't get picked four out of five times only bring four rods max get you some small tackle trays be sure and have hooks and weights. Don't worry about bring a bunc h of hard bait your angler will be more than willing to share hard bait with you but don't forget to offer to help with expense alway try something a little different from the boat and good luck

  16. I use ardent reel keel kit it cost 30$ came with solvent and grease and a handy soaking container with screen insert for small parts it took me about half an hour to completely disassemble clean repair an assemble each of my reels. I also use quantum hot sauce reel oil 7$ but I cleaned and repaired. All my25 reels over a few rainy days for 45$ . Tip only disassemble one reel at a time my son knocked parts off bench an it took a few extra min on those two.
  17. I always weigh my scale keeps up with the number of fish and total weight for the day easy to tell what my best five is
  18. Any channel or creek ledge with bait on them see how fast your rig sinks by pulling out the as much line as your rod is long then drop your rod tip to the water and start counting when your line gets tight the second you counted divided by amount of line equals fall rate. Now what ever depth the bait on ledge is cast and count. A little deeper than the bait fish. Wala your an expert
  19. It works in fifty degree water I don't know why it would work in forty that's as colds as it gets in Alabama
  20. I sent you a pm i'll help I'd go
  21. Hydrilla and milfoil and dollar pads and lily pads.lily pads in back of north sauty creek hydrilla and milfoil mixed threw out the lake in ten foot of water or less dollar pads in midlake areas. On some channel ledges five foot of water or less. Water is usually clear two foot visibility or more on the main lake all spring in the back of the creeks it depends on the rain most of the time a foot or more. Lots of stumps its a sure bet you find some health grass next to a stump hang on there a good chance you'll get you arm broke in the spring.
  22. We have grass three inchs tall in feb. by april you'll have fish in all stages pre spawn. Spawning and post spawn it'll be how ever you want to catch them some grass will be close to topping out by then I'll be throwing Lipless, square bill three foot or less and big white spinnerbaits and I have also fished this lake for ten years three days a week or more over that time and only caught one smallie so less you going to fish forty foot deep by the dam on rocks don't look for them
  23. I used them this summer in the 14-18 foot model my dad and I were out he was fishing a regular bomber I wad using the suspending when I stopped my retrieve I'd get bit he wasn't. I got him one he started catching fish it helps sometimes
