What's The Most Bizarre Thing That's Ever Happened To You While Fishing?
Walkin the dog with a spook when, what I think was, a blue herron swooped down n grabbed it. Thankfully a few shakes of its head sent the spook flyin back to the water.

Flukes
I use caffeine shads and Yamamoto D-Shads for staying down in the water column and sluggo's and flukes on top. I have found Ultra Lock hooks geat me a couple more fish per bait on average than offset ones.

What's Your Favorite Spinnerbait?
Terminator and War Eagle for me. Although when they want a smaller profile, H&H original's are hard to beat in my opinion.

My Girlriend's Casting ( Line Related )
My girl had the same problem when she started fishing with me. I spooled her up with 20# braid w/ fluoro leader...problem solved! Not sure what was causing it. I think it might have something to do with the speed of the luer in the air. Might not be flying fast enough to pull the line out so it jus coils out. Thats just a guess though. Once she started she started getting a little "snap" with the rod tip she started casting much better. Good luck!

Spinning Reel Suggestions
You can get it from any hardware store or wallyworld. I do agree with the rest of the posters though...stop throwing your rods!!!

Final Preparements
Definitly go with a pro qualifer. I had a black max several years ago and it was horrible. It didnt cast smooth at all and I had alot of backlash problems with it. I sucked it up and got a PQ and love them (have 4 now). They cast well, are very durable, and you can dial in the settings on it so backlashes/overruns are not a problem.

Braid
Technically you can use braid with anything. Personally I only use braid on the lures I will be throwing in the middle of nasty cover and/or using a slack line technique (jigs, frogs, t-rigs, carolina rigs). As said before, frogs and braid are made for each other IMO.

Mono Vs Braid For Topwater Flukin'
I agree with Jkarol24 about braid being able to cut through grass better than any line. However I use mono for all my jerkbaits mainly because of the clear water.. I fish a local lake that is LOADED with submerged grass and have never had a problem with them trapping me in it and breaking me off. IMO I feel the stretch helps my hookups.

Random Thoughts While Shaving
IMO this is the absolute best advice for anyone new to fishing or having trouble detecting bites!!

Spinning Reel Suggestions
I have a Sahara and know the gap you are talking about. You can apply a little silicone around the wire bail right up against the gap. I used a dropper bottle with a SMALL tip (just like reel oil bottles have). JUst be sure to use a very small amount! It smoothed out the gap and I have had no problems with the line catching there. Hope this helps!

White Braid
I use Spiderwire Invisibraid thats white. On my frog rod I tie direct and just color the first 4 ft or so black. For t-rigs and jigs i use fluoro leader. I personally like the white as its easier for me to see while watching the line. Jus my .02

Help With Hooks
I do on Super Spook Jr's i use. I change all my trebble hooks to Mustad 2X short shank. They are strong, sharp, and the extra short shank allows me to upsize which definitely helps hookup ratio. I use size 2's with the spook jr. Only tip I can give is when the fish breaks the surface on your lure DONT set the hook. Wait until you feel the weight of the fish then just sweep your rod up and you'll hook em. Hope this helps! Carlton

Finding Bass In Cold Water
I could be wrong but I believe the OP is saying the daily air temp is 57 degrees. Spotswood, hands down the best lures for me in cold water are jigs. The key for me in cold water is to work that jig SLOOOOOOOOWLY! Bass wont expend much energy in cold water so you have to put your bait in it's face and leave it there. It's painful to do when its cold outside but, for me, that's what has worked for me in cold water. When the water is clear, I use lighter line and smaller jigs (1/8 or 1/4 oz). Hope this helps! Good luck! Carlton
