  1. AMEN!!!! What difference does it make? If someone is doing that with a 5 lb fish and saying its a 10 lb'er then they are just a liar and I wont have anything to do with them anyway. I personally snap a pic as fast as I can so I can get them back in the water. I don't give a darn what position the fish/camera is in.
  2. Sorry to hear that! Prayers are sent! Hang in there buddy!
  3. Nice brownie! Gotta love those colors!
  4. My favorite Bluegill bait is actually a fly. Its a small green/yellow frog popper. Bluegills on a 3wt or 4wt fly rod is a fun fight!
  5. Most all of my/fiancee vacations are fishing. I spend 25-50 days a year vacationing at my favorite trout river. Headed to Alaska for 2 weeks this summer for a salmon run. Gotta mark "King Salmon" off the bucket list.
  6. Flyfisher has great advise. Especially about getting a casting lesson if this is your first time flyfishing. You will be fine with a 6-8wt rod although I would suggest an 8wt. It will handle the bigger flies better. Flyfisher's percentages on rod / line / reel are right on. Get the best rod you can then get a decent line, nothing too expensive, and just about any reel will do for now. I do highly recommend getting a "bass taper" line though. You will be slinging some big wind resistant flies and bass taper lines have a short head designed to sling such flies. You can practice your casting at home. Tie a piece of yarn to the end of your leader. Place a t-shirt in your yard & walk off 20 steps. Then try and cast the yarn onto the t-shirt. Flyfishing for any species is incredibly fun and addictive. Fight through the initial frustrations and you will be rewarded handsomely with some amazing fishing! Good Luck!
  7. 6'6" M/F Carbonlite w/ Shimano Sahara & 6 lb Yozuri Hybrid. I use different heads depending on the bottom. My favorite worm for this is the SK Finesse worm.

  9. The drop off that they might be on doesn't have to be a big one. A drop of only a foot or two can be enough to hold bass. That being said, if the males are cruising for spots to make beds then the females won't be far from them. Try working the deepest water (again, deep might only be a foot or two deeper) closest to where you are seeing the males. Try working some soft plastics (craws/lizards) and jigs from deep to shallow in theses areas. If the males are cruising for beds then the females should be in a feeding mode to get ready for spawn. Hope this helps!
  10. My favorite changes just about every time I fish them. The one that the bass like the best that day is the one that I like the best. I use 4 different brands and like them all for different situations. Btw...this thread sould be in the "Tackle" section.
  11. My first bass was only about 6 yrs ago due to spending my life chasing trout. A good friend took me to a local pond. Rigged me up with a T-rig ribbontail, black with blue tail. Slowly dragged it on the bottom with a twitch of the rod every now and then. Caught 5 that morning, but the first was the biggest. I spent less weekends on the river after that and more at ponds/lakes. I still have to feed my trout addiction as well so I am very thankful my fiancee loves to chase both species too
  12. My favorite cover is the ones the big girls are hanging by! Doesn't matter what its made of as long as the girls are there.
  13. Mattlures on the lake of his choice or Big O on his favorite. Either would be an unbelievable trip!
  14. I use a snap on all my crank baits. No split ring. I tie to the snap then connect snap to front loop on the bait. I personally believe this allows the bait to wiggle better. I have been fly fishing for most of my life & I learned a long time ago to tie flies on with a loop knot (with the exception of dry flies) as to allow them to move more naturally in the water . When I started bass fishing I kind of carried that mentality with me.
  15. My #1 is Caffeine Shad. #2 is Yamamoto D-Shad. I love the way the caffeine shad flutters when it falls and it has a nice "walk the dog" action to it under water.
  16. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've said those exact words!!!
  17. Great job on locating those bass!! Makes you feel good when you figure out where they are hiding. Your eyes and instincts are your most valuable tools for locating bass! Great job!!
  18. Owner Beast hooks fit perfect. 4/0 for the 4" and 6/0 for the 5.5"
  19. Sardis is where I go for crappie. For brim though you should give Shelby Farms a try. Last summer & fall I was catching a bunch of of them up there. Was fishing a small popper on a 4wt fly rod. Man thats a fun fight! Good luck!
  20. Yea that place looks like it would have a lot of snakes. I'm sure once the weather warms & snakes are out in full force I'll wear my snake boots when I go there.
  21. Nice fish Ks!!! Looks like I went to the wrong place today. I got blanked at Nashoba. Man there were males all over the shoreline. Looked like they were guarding fry. Saw a couple females cruising but couldn't get them to bite anything I had. Gotta love fishing! Congrats on the hog!
  22. These are awesome in wind!! I started using them on my kayak but they work just as good on my jon boat. Like senko said, just a tap on the TM every now and then to reset position & you are good.
  23. Yea I'm pretty sure there is a Chic-fil-A there. Its on Wolf River Blvd right by the intersection of WRB & Germantown rd. There is the park pond/lake but I will be fishing the big pond on the other side of the trees. There is a trail just off the concrete path that cuts through the trees to the other ponds.
  24. I'm headed out to Nashoba tomorrow for some bass hunting. Any of our local Memphis anglers been out there lately? How's the fishing been? Carlton Btw... RW, 00MOD, Bass n Taters, or any other locals want to join me come on out! I'll b there bout 12 n stay till probly sundown.
