  1. 1) Location 2) Time on the water 3) Big Bass baits (swimbaits & jigs)
  2. Yes we are! My fiancee loves to fly fish. Since she is working on her Doctorate she doesn't get the chance to go much. When discussing where to have the honeymoon, she said "lets go to the mountains & go fishing!" And of course I say yes! Sometimes you just know u have met the right one!
  3. Berkeley Havoc 3" Sick FIsh was a good DS bait for me over the summer.
  4. Not so sure about that statement. I have caught a number of bass on Hudd's 68 Trout on my home lake and in local ponds. None of which are stocked with trout. Bass are opportunistic feeders. If they see something that looks like food they will pounce on it.
  5. As I only fish for the enjoyment of it, I only have 2 "standards" for fishing: 1) Have fun! 2) Learn something new. If I do those 2 things I have reached my goals.
  6. Well since I don't live in Colorado or Washington, I can't legally say
  7. My main streamer rod is a 6wt. I use the 8wt when wade fishing at night for trophies due to the casting situation. The 2 spots I wade fish at night I have to make 60-70 ft casts to reach the hole, but don't have much room behind me due to trees. I rig the 8 with a 330g shooting head so I can make a short backcast & shoot a lot of line. I haven't really felt it is overkill due to the size of the fish I'm targeting and the size flies im using (6-8" flies). With these size flies, Im not hooking into anything smaller than 20". There are MANY 30"+ browns in this river. There are quite a few caught every year here and thats what I'm targeting. I equate it to using swimbaits. Big baits, big sticks, for big fish! get them hooked & get them in so I can release them alive & well.
  8. Thanks guys! Here is another nice male from one of our night hunts. He measured 22", but fought like he was a bada**. He put so much bend in my 8wt I had to put him on the reel.
  9. Maine, They are in full spawn mode. There are quite a few redds present on the shoals. However, all the ones I get are staging as I don't fish over bedding fish.
  10. Thanks guys! It has been fun this year! Tom, I have been throwing articulated streamers. These are the ones I have had the most luck with. Fly, Yes its kype was fully developed. He was staging in deep water below a spawning shoal. I dont fish for bedding fish, just staging. I fully agree with the smallmouth statement!!!
  11. Been spending a lot of time on my favorite trout stream lately as the fishing has been AWESOME!!! I have already landed 14 over 21" in the past couple months. Here are a couple of these beauties. 24" 26 1/2" Same one at release
  12. Raider you & your family are in our prayers!
  13. Lets see...3 out of the last 4 NC's and ended up 3rd this year. Can't be too upset at that. Roll Tide!!
  14. Well they are little green fish
  15. For me, being able to customize a lure would be a huge selling point. Coming from a background of tying flies, I do my own customizations on most every lure I buy, whether it be changing hooks, adding colors/marks, etc. Being able to do that at production, IMO, would be a great option.
  16. RW, I'll never understand why when snow/ice flurries are forcasted for here, people rush to the store to stock up like they will be trapped in the house for a month. Its insane!
  17. Flippin a jig at a local pond & hooked into what I thought was a tree. Since I had my big stick w/ 80 lb braid, I pulled and reeled to try and work it loose and out comes a golf cart rim! Don't know how it got there but I got it out.
  18. Glad you & your family are safe!!
  19. Now that is what I call a perfect day fishing! 4am - 10am = Trout / 11am - 6pm = Bass. Can't get any better than that!
  20. I have to say I am shocked at how the second half went! Happy but shocked. ROLL TIDE!!
  21. 5 surgeons for various cities were discussing who makes the best patients to operate on. The first surgeon, from New York, says “I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.” The second, from Chicago, responds “Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside is color coded!”. The third surgeon, from Dallas, says “No, I really thing librarians are the best, everything inside is in alphabetical order”. The forth, from Los Angeles, chimes in “You know, I like construction workers…those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over.” But the fifth surgeon, from Washington DC shut them all up when he observed “You are all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. They have no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine. Plus the head and a** are interchangeable!”
  22. SirSnookalot, You would not believe the job satisfaction I get on a daily basis! These kids teach me life lessons almost every day. To see them, with everything they are going through, and how they accept it and focus solely on getting better still amazes me. It keeps my life in perspective!
