looks like im going to grenada fishing in the morning and gonna try the river saturday morning....best place to buy big bait at the BP?

anybody been to the dam fishing lately? smallmouth bite? thinking about going saturday....the wind is forecasted for 10-16 mph...not sure if it will even be worth it but its my only day to go

If i dont get to go this weekend I am def planning on going monday as we are out of school for a holiday. If I can find somebody to go with im for sure going.....I will give a report if i get to go.

I went last year and never tried it...instead i went up to the dam and got between two walls on the far right side and fished for crappie and catfish

when you say upstream do you mean towards the dam? or does that actually mean north the way river is actually flowing? Im thinking about giving this a try....I think i will put out two drift socks and then just turn the trolling motor backwards and keep it running to slow me down

just curious how fast do yall usually drift? do you cast out behind the boat? Ive some really nice adjustable rod holders...or do yall just cast and let sink to bottom and then drift from there? Do you get up close to the dam and drift down or would I be ok getting down river a good piece and drifting? I have a 16 foot aluminum jon boat with a new 30 hp etec....I also have drift socks do yall use those? last time I went I launched at the Botel ramp and it was really swift

LOL yesssir Roll Tide and yes coaching baseball in the spring def takes up all of my spring fishing...Winter time is usually great for me though as i have a week off for thanksgiving and 2 weeks for christmas....and most every weekend leading up to those holidays. ive never caught a sauger, I would love to come up that way sometime and try and also get more familiar with fishing on the river and around the dam as I went a couple weeks back and was a bit nervous but did enjoy it and will be going back

No problem....I went and bought some large minnows and small minnows....we caught 16 pound blue, 5 pound flat head, 2 crappie, 4 skipjack and 2 drum haha

you catch them just the typical bass fishing with artificial or do you drift or use some technique using live bait? I have caught plenty of smallmouth on the lake but i fished the dam for the first time ever on october 18th

I fished around the dam two weekends ago and boy were they pulling some water!!! I was using live bait just hoping to catch anything that would bite. Caught a 16 pound blue, 5 pound flat head, 4 skip jack, 2 drum, and 2 crappie......really wanna learn to catch the small mouth there just getting comfortable with the waters in my 1652 jon with 30 hp evinrude

anybody know of any fishing boat rentals in the pickwick area? All I can find is pontoon boat rentals and would rather have a fishing boat, mostly just gonna be catfishing

Haven't been since early March. Any suggestions, just wanna catch a few fish.....

I did find that out. Nothing but skipjack biting

I will be going tomorrow to fish from the bank and need any advice I can get. I will be targeting stripes and catfish both. I plan on fishing until my partner finishes up his tournament out of JP Coleman. Then we will be in the boat.
