    Luhr Jensen?
  2. Why does BASS keep switching boat sponsors? Many years ago it was all Ranger boats. Then they went to strictly Triton. Now I see they are all about Skeeter. What gives, is it a money thing or do they just tick someone off every few years?
  3. This lake just on the north side of I-4 by Fantasy of Flight looks like it has some good cover and could be worth a try. Anyone have any experience on this lake and if so what do you recommend?

It looks like something made by storm a few years back.
  5. Usually people who do not understand C&R are older adults that were brought up old school. Ignore them and try to teach the younger generation about C&R. They are the future and ultimately the future of our fisheries and our sport.

I want to learn to fish jigs this year. What is the best jig, brand, size & color to gain some confidence on these lures. I have tried them a bit in the past but never been successful. Thanx.
  7. I use a small rather dull pocket knife. It works great and that way the hook won't get you and the knife won't either
  8. I do not know about the shad. The minnow does not come with a hook. How do you rig them? What kind of hook , size, weight or jig head is the best? Thanx. I have some of the minnows, but I have not tried them yet. Rigging problems.
  9. Thats funny, I tried to find a public ramp on that lake yesterday. No luck. Where is the public ramp at Arianna? Do you have to pay? I also checked the ramps at Alfred and Hartridge and ended up fishing at Haines. Only one hit all day.
  10. I will be honest. I normally do not catch very many. I do not tournament fish, but I like their setup. So I am always shooting for five fish that would weigh in. One fish makes it all worth it, but five makes it a good day for me.
  11. What line is recommended for small and medium size swimbaits. I am thinking 50lb braid. Any thoughts?
  12. I put other. My biggest problem is the idiots who clog up the boat ramps and take all day without respecting others and the jet skis from hell.

Avalon, How are you rigging those Lake Fork Magic Shads? Just curious.
  14. I personally think originals and knock-offs work well in different situations. I have some of every brand that I use in different conditions. I had a thread on here locked out because I mentioned one bait falls at a different rate. Some people just do not understand. If you put all your trust in only one brand, you are loosing out on some productive fishing.

Those look really good. They look very similar to the Diawa hard baits which also work very well.
  16. I was going through my oldest lures and triggered a memory of an old lure I used to have for trout. It was about 1.5 inches long, hard molded plastic in the shape of a wasp molded onto a single hook it was solid black or solid brown. It wobbled like a johnson silver minnow spoon. Great action and caught trout like crazy. I bet it would be good for bass today also. Anyone familiar or know if these are available. I can't recall a name or company. I purchased them as a kid growing up in Northern Minnesota over 30 years ago. It was a good lure that got lost in time!
  17. Does anyone know where to get one at the best price? Used to be a guy on Ebay (fatfish farmer?) I think. I can"t locate him anymore. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.

Guys that have used the 6" paddle tail tube. What size weighted hook do you use, How do you rig these, And any decent catches so far? Thanks for sharing.
  19. There is a new basstrix KO every day. Since the original is next to impossible or requires $$$ which knock off is the best in your opinion? I need to order something for Xmas.
  20. One more: You do your best KVD imitation with an expensive lure to show off your practiced casting to the perfect dock and your line goes up, over, and around every crossmember and post, through the boat on the lift, around the adjacent jet ski, and the lure lands hooked to the sign reading (THIS PROPERTY PROTECTED BY TRAINED GUARD DOG!) :'(
  21. A few more goodies: 1. Getting that sinking feeling while you desperately try to recall if you put in the drain plug. 2. Forgetting to unhook one of the tie downs and wonder why the boat lifts off the trailer at half mast. 3. Giving throttle to the big motor when you notice the TM is still down. 4. Jumping into the seat to run to the next hot spot and landing on that rattletrap you just took off, (the one with the new hooks you replaced). 5. Pulling out of the water when you did not raise the motor up. 6. Trying to lower the big motor with the tilt lock still in place. :-[
  22. I use the soft sided wallets from BPS. The original bags fit into the zip lock clear bags. I keep a wallet for senkos, one for worms, one for flukes, one for toads, one for creatures, and one for finesse. The problem is that d**n monkey always wants to overfill them. I guess that is where the rubbermaid tub works for overstock.

I want to learn more about using crankbaits. I keep hearing praise about the bandits. They are cheaper and still very effective. What size, model, and colors should I pick up? Most of the water I fish runs shallow, some grass and not much rocks or wood. Thanks.
  24. Use a small needlenose pliers and gently open the eye on the screw, replace the hook and crimp eye back closed. I have done this on all my baits that use those screw in eye type screws.
  25. Most important high end stuff needed, thats easy (GAS for the truck and boat)!
