What color dippers are producing in florida?

I have used the original megastrike and love it. It does not stink and really works. They changed the formula and I have not tried the new formula which they say smells like garlic. I hope the old formula is still available, I love it. Maybe Bobby can let us know. I am willing to try the new formula, but I would rather not change when I find something I like that works.

I like to wacky rig senkos. I use a wacky or circle hook 2/0 made for this application. Problem is lately the smaller fish hit hard and swallow it all before you can feel it. I have been able to get the hook out without hurting the fish, but I hate to see this happen. Should I use a larger hook like an EWG or something with a longer shank to avoid this problem. Please help

Not to hijack this, but on that spro 4"shad what color and sink rate do you guys use?

My local BPS just got some of these. Are they any good? Looks like a fancy zara spook type bait. I wanted to know if anyone has tried one yet? Thanks.

I think it would be difficult for some of the pros, when you have camera boats, spectator boats, and helicopters overhead. Big brother is watching. I believe this was actually brought up at a seminar I attended. The pros have a signal of some sort to tell all cameras to shut down during a pee break. To me, that is too much attention. I would have to pray my bladder could go the distance.

Hard baits, I voted shad. Every body of water has shad or one of his minnow type brethren that bass eat. Most smaller baitfish resemble a form of shad. Soft plastic, green pumpkin/watermelon (clearer h2o) Junebug/Black (murky h2o)

I used these the other day and what a great bait. I had many strikes, but could not get a hook up. It may have been small fish biting at the tail or my hook set was not good. I was using a 5/0 ewg. Is this hook too small? What is the best size for this bait? I love the action, but is there any tips to improve the hook up ratio? Thanks.

The old original beetle-spin. It will keep you from being skunked.

You may be able to get some in a baited minnow trap. You will get many varities of small baitfish, but if there is alot of small bass they will enter as well. Make sure this is legal in your area first. For conventional fishing the smallest roostertail spinner in bright yellow may work. The problem is hooking small fish will stress them and they may not survive the whole transport and re-introduction. However you try it good luck and let us know the results.

Without getting too zen, I am wondering everyones thoughts on the idea that a bass is a bass no matter where they live and they can all be caught with the same types of lures. Or, are they totally different like a northern strain and a florida strain or a Cali bass & an east coast bass must be fished different because they are truly unique in those locations. Or, even a bass in Mexico compared to one in Japan. Your thoughts please. I think this may be an interesting subject because we all seek the same quarry in many locations around the world from stock ponds and rivers to huge impoundments.

This is even easier. Cut a rubberband and tie it, overhand knot just above your weight. Trim tag ends and your ready. Works good and is adjustable by sliding up if needed. You can even get fancy and use red rubberbands.

I have checked out the different Deps baits on the TW site. They look very nice, but pricey. Anyone have any experience with these. I am espcially interested in the "Realiser" it looks awesome and comes in 2 sizes.

I have been using 20lb suffix braid on my spinning rigs for 2 years without a single issue. It works great.

I think I will try the 30lb braid straight and see how it goes. If it doesn't work well, I have some 25lb trilene big game or I will try the Pline cxx that most are recommending. Thanks.

I think luck does play a role. Even the pros, Vandam, Iconelli, Reese, etc. have said things like this on stage, "I knew I was on to them and had a good weight but was still unsure, when I was lucky enough to get this big girl to bite." This thread reminds me of a story I once read in a fishing magazine. A young boy with an old zebco was casting off a public ramp with a small spinner for bluegills. Meantime, a big bass tournament was launching beside him. 40 boats worth 40 grand each, experienced anglers with the best equipment. In the end, The largest bass of the tourney 5.5 lbs. The young lad caught one that was over 8. I think the kid was lucky. My problem, my luck is mostly bad.

I have and use both. I have not noticed any big difference. Owners seem sharper out of the package. I also like Diiachi trebles.

I believe what you are referring to is the Midge-Oreno. It is the smaller version of the Bass-Oreno line of baits made by South Bend lure Co. They went out of business in, or were bought out in 1965. It was a popular lure. Many were made and are still around. You may find one on Ebay. Red head and white body was a popular color. I hope this helps.

If the hook is not in too deep you can push it through and cut off the barb and pull it out. It works, and only leaves two small holes and less tissue damage.

Has anyone here ever cut, filed or changed the lip on crankbaits. I have some deep divers with real big round diving lip and thought i might cut them to a square bill or coffin style. I know you have to be careful not to change the balance point and it may not run as deep but the advantage could be less hangups and a better action. If I keep it simetrical and take off small bits at a time I may find something that works. Most of the water I fish is not that deep anyway. Any thoughts?

I can't afford the calcutta, so which of these two would be best for medium sized swimbaits. Besides round vs. low profile, are there any other reasons on one over the other. Any input from owners? Thanx.
