Questions For Shimano Guys
I'm looking at the Curado E's. Whats the differences between the 50, 200 and 300? Is it just size or are the higher numbers better in other ways? Thanks, Dan

Solo Canoe Or Kayak For Small Lakes
You will get blown around in both. I don't take my kayak out if its really windy, but I hate fishing in the wind in general. My buddy has that kayak and it is nice for the price. I would go with the kayak, it's probably a lot lighter and easyer to handle.

Favorite Braid
I almost threw a spinning set up in the lake after losing a large bass due to tip wrap. Now I only use braid on my spinning reels, usually powerpro. You can spend a lot more but probably can't notice much of a difference. No more line twist either.

Reel For Pitchin'
I just bought a quantum accurist on bay for $40. It has a flippin switch which I wanted. Just got the reel today and it feels pretty good, for $40 it feels great....

Who Uses Flippin Switches? What Reels?
Ya most people seem not to use them anymore. I actually use mine a lot for both flippin and pitchin.

Who Uses Flippin Switches? What Reels?
Wow, thanks for all that information, that was exactly what I was looking for. I just got a 501pt for $40 bucks on ebay and that includes shipping. Great deal the guy has 2 more if anyone is interested. Thanks, Dan

Who Uses Flippin Switches? What Reels?
Hey do you know which reel is older between the accurist 2 AC501cx and the accurist AC501pt? The accurist 2 is the one that came out in 3 different colors, gold, blue, and red. The AC501pt is silver. I was going to buy one on ebay and wanted the newer model but can't find anything on what order they were produced.

Shortening A Rod Handle
It bothers me that manufactures make rod handles so long nowadays. I bought a skeet reese rod and the handle must have been a foot and a half..... I've taken rods to a guy who charges 15-20 bucks per rod but I figured i'd give it a shot myself. Thanks everyone for the tips, I'll let you know how it goes.

Looking For A Spinning Reel
If you can push your buget a bit I would recommend a quantum smoke. You can get one on ebay for under $130. They are LEGIT. And this is coming from a daiwa guy.

Shortening A Rod Handle
Thank you for the tips. I called St. Croix and they said the warrenty will NOT be void wihich is cool. The other rod is an Abu Garcia Vendetta that I got for $50 bucks so I dont care too much about that one. I was hoping to save the original rod butt cap but it sounds like I need to buy new ones. Any recommendations on a good site to buy these from? Thanks Dan

Shortening A Rod Handle
I know a lot of people do this with how ridiculously long rod handles are now. My main question is: Is there a way to save the rod "butt" when shortening a split handle rod? How do you get it off without destroying it? I would like to use the original if possible.

Who Uses Flippin Switches? What Reels?
I actually always use them when flipping. I know a lot of people never do and some people probably don't even know what they are. I use an old school Team Daiwa TD1pi for flippin but the right hand retreve is killing me. I've had that reel for 15 years but out of the blue I deceided I cant use RH retreve any more. Anyways, it seems like flippin switches are pretty rare nowadays. What reels have them, I've been looking at the Quantum Accurist but dont see many other options.

Is This Weird?
I just bought a revo sx left hand. All my right hand gear is team daiwa but I really liked the revo sx I tried. I was planning on waiting and trying out the left hand a few times to make sure it feels good before I sell my gear.

Is This Weird?
So I have been bass fishing and using a right hand baitcaster since I was 15. Now I am 31 and just decided to sell all my right hand reels and buy left hand.... It just started to bug me that I would switch hands. I used a friends left hand and while it was a bit awkward at first, most trying to set the hook, but after a day of fishing it just felt right. I guess it makes sense because I fish spinning reels with left hand retrieve. Oh well, guess I need to put some stuff on eBay.

Fishing With Live Blue Gill
I'm not big on live bait but I used to use it as a kid in Florida. I always did better on shiners. We had a couple lakes where they would school in the hundreds if you threw some bread in the water, then I would catch them on bare hooks once they were on a feeding frenzy. Now it's only artificials for me.

How To Take Photos Of Yourself With Fish
I run into this problem while fishing from a kayak. I end up taking a lot of pictures of fish at arm length or on my lap, and they do the fish no justice. A 5-6 pond fish looks like 2 pounds.... Then there is the option of holding out the camara with 1 arm and the fish in the other. I dont like the angle of these pictues but they are better than nothing. There really isnt a place to put a tripod on a kayak without worry of it falling in the water.... Still thinking of ideas. I may try to permanently mount a small trypod at arms length in front of me. Here are examples of lame pictures I have taken. lol

Pet Native Fish?
Does anyone else keep any native fish in an aquarium/pond. I have 2 ponds, one thats about 600 gallons and has about 12 Green Sunfish and a smaller 200 gallon pond that has 1 bass in it but I will be hunting for some tank mates for him.

New Guy From Northern California
Hi guys, I just found this site and will probably be on it a lot. Like a lot of you I consider myself addicted to bass fishing. I fish primarily from a kayak. I have been bass fishing for about 15 years but really lost touch with it when I was in college, my priorities changed.... lol. But now it is all I do with my free time. Good luck out there! Dan

Braiding A Baitcaster
Hey guys, do you recommend using a leader of mono to tie onto the spool before spooling braid. I do this on my spinning reels but I haven't in the past on a baitcaster.... but I haven't fished braid on a baitcaster in probably 5 years. Thanks, Dan

Skeet Reese Rods
I bought a skeet reese drop shot rod from walmart.com for $53. It was on clearance but doesnt look like it is anymore. I couldn't pass up that deal. When I got the rod in the mail the eye tip was loose, probably happened from shipping, no big deal I just repaired it myself. I actually liked the rod, good action and pretty lite. If you pay full price for it I think there are better rods. I ended up returning it and getting a mojo bass rod. The skeet reese rod handle was way too long and I do a lot of kayak fishing, the rod handle kept getting in the way.
