I have a 2nd braided rod with 60# braided when I am too close to the weed. With big bass & pike I like to troll a lot in minimum weed areas with the 6#. I like to cast a lot so I can troll with the 60# & cast & troll with the 6# also.

Something to remember about Braided & solid lines. After 500 casts on NEW both braided & the solid lines. The braided will wear off the color coatings & get much softer. The solid lines DO NOT CHANGE. The 100' Line STILL HAS COILS along the full length. A WEIGHTLESS lure ? Good luck feeling that 100' coil pulling your rod. I have a Ande 4# Monofilament spinning set up and a used 6# Braided spinning setup. The old braided is straight to the weightless lure. The solid line has partial loose coils. run 100 feet of both lines out side by side. Braided keeps getting softer and straighter. First start of each season has the non braided coming off the reel in coils. I use the tiniest black snap on the braided line to unhook the lure & let the current untwist the line if it gets too twisted

It can usually slowly cut all the weeds when a fish runs into the weeds. It also casts very light lures well.

I use 6# braided line for decades ??. Spinning reel. Has never dug in as I wind with the end of the line tied to the porch rail. Trilene Knot works if a half hitch is tied in the end of the line. It is pulled into the knot at the eye of the hook. And JAMS the knot completely. Braid is cheaper than Floro. Use the Jamming Trilene knot to connect to anything. If the line digs in then the reel is not placed under heavy enough tension. Or the reel is not winding with enough SIDE TRAVEL with each turn of the spool.
