You need to KNOW what current your present motor pulls at full power on 12 volts ? What THRUST is needed to make you happy in a breeze & current in the same direction ? Hundreds of highways & local roads are sprayed with weed killers all summer. It is going into drinking reservoirs & creeks & big rivers. Sterile fish can not reproduce. Why some areas only have HUGE fish. I was born in 1937. Fishing is very changed. The few fish left learn to be active at late night. You are doing the right things. I fish a very OVER FISHED area with a bunch of retired Geezers EVERY good day. May 15 to Sept. 15. Most / all ? are C & R with the fish. SO the fish have over many years become VERY good at not biting stupidly. They do very light cautious nips on any lure. I have to figure out ways to fool them. NOT EASY with their lateral lines & excellent eyesight in 6 to 10' of clear water.

That foot stuck under a rock ended my entering any dark water, shaded, so I could not see the bottom clearly. I still have the flyrod and reel that saved my life. I can still see the distorted blue sky thru the surface water. Close calls are stored in our brains forever with me.
