Yup, and the other one is my dad's alltime favorite player. Willie Mcgee. Coleman had 80 somethin' SB that year. You dont see that much any more. Wow, we are already on page 11.

I dont want you to look it up, that would be cheating. ANSWER: Fernando Tatis against the Dodgers and Chan Ho Park gave up both of 'em. I got tonights Aflac Trivia question right. It was in 1988 what 3 Cardinals stole at least 40 bases each?

Rogers vs. Carpenter??? I like my odds in that matchup.

It was 1.12 ERA for Gibson and in game one he struck out 17* Tigers. My dad has told me a lot about this WS because he was a diehard Cards fan in school and the cards blew a 3 games to one lead which killed him. As for the 4 20 game winners, I can only name one off the top of my head, Jim Palmer. Then i cheated also and looked it up Jim Palmer, Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar, and Pat Dobson. My turn to ask a question (I'll start off with an easy one), Who is the only player to hit 2 grandslams in one inning?

Great game last night. Well, great ending. Gary Bennett is on fire. The cubs rotation is very bad right now. When Wood comes back next year he is going into the bullpen. Look at their current rotation. Zambrano, Walrond, Mateo, Guzman, and Hill. The only good player is Zambrano. Adding Prior isnt helping that much. The team definitely needs to rebuild. They could contend next year and for a couple years down the road but it would just be for the division. They would have virtually no shot at the WS with a rotation like that.

I hope you plan on living a while longer. They are a long way from being good. They really need to rebuild. The Prior/Wood era needs to be over. Its not going to work. I mean they need to completely rebuild like Florida Marlin rebuild. They dont really have anyone to rebuild around because Lee and Rameriz are too old to build around. If I were them I might keep Prior but would try to dump Wood, Lee, and Rameriz. By dumping them I mean trade for promissing prospects. Cards offense looks good but they pitching looks normal. :'(

Largemouth or Smallmouth?
Smallmouth do fight better than LM but i like catching LM better. When BASS is on one of the northern smallmouth lakes, I turn it off. I think it is boring to watch them catch 1-2lb fish all the time. I guess I like LM better just because they are bigger and I get to catch them more since i live in the south.

Am i dreaming? Did Suppan pitch 7 2/3 with 0er? Did Izzy pitch a perfect 9th? There is a first for everything. I hate the Giants... except for tonight. Go Barry!!! I was and still am a huge huge alltime favorite player is JD Drew. I saw Stephen Drew hit 3 homers in a college game vs. GT. He is going to be great. But how cool was it tonight when JD threw out Stephen trying to stretch out a double. JD went deep twice. Something to think about: Would the Cards be better off keeping Danny Harren instead of trading for Mulder? Just some random thoughts

I remember earlier this year Tony LaRussa said something about how he will never go to a function or event with Ozzie Smith anymore and dont know if he ever said why. I never really liked ozzie. I think he was a great everyday player and spectacular defensively but I dont even think he is HOF worthy. That is pretty bad coming from a Cardinals fan prospective. Not to get back to the stats but his career batting avg was .262, .337 obp, 28hr, 793RBI, 2460hits. Offensively the only HOF worthy stat is 580SB and only 589SO. Maybe because the '85 NLCS walkoff homerun or maybe, in my opinion, the greatest play in the history of baseball back when he was with the padres. IDK if Jeter is the best player in baseball but i think he is the best leader and most valuable to his team. I think he holds that Yankees club together with all of those individual superstars. He is very clutch but I think he is probably behind a couple other players. Definitely #1 no contest is Big Papi. Jeter might be #2 with Pujols close behind (top of the 9th 2 outs down by 2 2strikes away from your seasoning ending against the most dominant closer in baseball). Jeter, if it is possible, is the most clutch defensive player in baseball.

I believe I did say the Sox were going to miss the playoffs and someone said that we're gonna hold you to it. A lot of season left but I like my odds. Muddy, yeah david wright was injured so his numbers arent what they should be but that is why he wont win, he was injured and his numbers arent what they should be. Keep in mind, Albert was out over 2 weeks and his numbers are still outstanding. Personally I think there are 3 greatest Cardinals of all time that are all tied for first. Def. Stan Musial, Bob Gibson, and finally Rogers Hornsby. Ever heard of him. How about one the greatest right handed hitters of all time. He hit over .400 3 times and he has the highest batting avg all-time for right-handed hitters. He only hit 301hr. but that was at Sportsmans park where it was like 430 to center and 450 down the lines. I do think it is time to start mentioning Albert in the same breath as these guys. Stan vs. Alberts first 6 seasons albert has a 168 more hr, 276 more RBI, same number of SB, and more runs. Alberts career batting avg is higher, higher slg %, and higher OBP. I think albert was younger in his debut also. The only way Albert is not going to be as good as Stan would be if he got injured every year for the rest of his career. Albert is only 236hr behind Stan. ALBERT IS EL HOMBRE!!

If David Wright is Pujols' closest competition in the MVP race, then Albert does have it in the bag. I dont think David Wright will even get the most MVP votes on his team. Carlos Beltran is having a much better year with the stats to boot. 286 36hr 103RBI. All of his stats except batting avg. are much better than Wrights. I think Ryan Howard (.292 44hr 114RBI)(he leads nl in hr and RBI) will also get some votes but he isnt on a first place team. Keep in mind the Cards still have the second best record in the nl. Pujols has started to surge and I think he will be great in the post season and will win the MVP award. I think Pujols will hit at least 50homers this year. Lets hope Marquis can hold 'em to at most 6 runs tonight.

Oh Mulder Time to watch Bristol. Val, I just did the save % thing right before I clicked on this thread and I also did Wagner his was about 86% i think. Not good but a lot better than Isringhausen. Think that is 9 games the Cards should have won if IZZY hadnt blown it in the ninth. We would be 7 games up on the Reds and would be rolling away with the division.

That has killed our momentum and we now only have a 1 game lead in the division.

Cards and Chris Duncan are looking strong. Nice 5 game sweep by the yanks over the sox. Uh-oh for the mets, the injury bug is finally catching up with them and hitting them hard. Luckily they have a big lead and everyone should be back by playoff time. El Duque pitched very good yesterday. The mets are looking like the Cardinals of the past two years.

Weaver actually has had 3 solid starts in a row. Yesterday was the Jeff Weaver of the past that the Cards were hoping to get. The Cards picked up Preston Wilson today and he is actually playing in the game vs the cubs. Good pickup by Walt since they dont know when Edmonds is coming back. Lets hope Mulder works out his problems before the end of the season. 6-3 Cards right now. How bout Chris Duncan 3 hits in each game against the Reds and already a homer today.
