Mark Lorretta would be a great addition to the cards. He is just the kind of guy they need. He is a lot like Mark Grudzielanek except lor is probly a better hitter and not as good fielder. Did you guys hear that they are going to make a Tony LaRussa movie? It is going to be based on the story of 3 nights in august but i dont see how that would make a great movie.

I think there is difference between Leo Mazzone and Dave Duncan. I think Leo does better with young pitchers and having them reach their full potential while Duncan does better with middle to older pitchers and resurrecting their careers. Both are definitely the 2 best pitching coaches in the majors. I agree with Val on the Suppan thing. First off, Sup isnt going to pitch anywhere near how he pitched in the playoffs. Second, he isnt going to pitch as good on another team as he did with the cards during the regular season. He didnt do that great during the regular season but he will get a lot more than he is worth due to the lack of quality FA pitchers and because of how he pitched in the playoffs. The year before he was a card, he was traded to the bosox and was horrible. He ended up in the bullpen and when he was a FA the cards got him pretty cheap. Duncan then pretty much fixed him. Here are a couple of guys Duncan fixed and then (of the ones that have left) went downhill once they left the cards. Weaver Suppan Woody Williams (but had a decent year this year) Kent Bottenfield Andy Benes Darryl Kile Chris Carpenter** Chuck Finley Jason Simontacchi (he wasnt ever really good but went 11-5 era 4.02 when on the cards) ... and thats jus the SP **really freakin' good

I created this thread for all the offseason chat, opinions, and bragging for MLB. I will start if off with the free agent talk. I have no idea what team will end up with Barry Bonds but he isnt going to do squat. I wouldnt be surprised if he ended up in Toronto becuase they will try anything to be in contention with the Yanks and Sox. And one of Muddy's Mets out for the 1st 50 games next year. Mr G. Mota. But he wont be on the Mets next year because he is a free agent. Oh, and the biggest question this offseason. What to do with AROD? I think Brian Cashman will be smart and hold on to him for at least another year but if someone is willing to give up a lot for him then he could be gone.

I also say after the all star break. I think someone should start a off-season thread and then on opening day start a new one.

You must mean the Falcons that my Saints lit up on Monday Night Football. Right? No, I mean the Falcons that just beat the Bengals and Steelers. I think the hurricane katrina momentum is wearing off and the saints will fall back to earth. There was no way that any team could have beaten the saints on that monday night.

Nice, I was going to go up to Oscoda to my grandparents house to try salmon fishing last weekend in the Ausable River but had a change of plans at the last minute. I've never been salmon fishing before but it looks like fun. Nice fish.

OK, I think I understand what SFC is saying and he is right. 10% rule is about right. He is talking about when you are in a forum and for each topic it says views and replies. If you take 10% of the number of views, that is about how many replies a somewhat interesting topic will have. I think RW is thinking 10% of all current members. According to SFC, this thread has 121 views and 13 replies (before i replied). 10% of 121 is 12 so this thread would be somewhat interesting because there were 13 replies. An easy way to do it is move the decimal in the views collum over one to the left. That gives you about how many replies a somewhat interesting topic would have. Besides thinking like SFC, I also have a lot of free time on my hands right now.

I still dont believe it, it hasnt sunk in. This is crazy. The first championship of any of my favorite teams in any sport in my life. I think part of the reason it hasnt sunk in is because during the last game I had no worries. Win one of the next three with Weave, Supp, and Carp pitching. I am just so happy we won. Maybe Jr can make this a perfect weekend by capping it off with a win at Atlanta this weekend. I think we should lock this thread. Maybe have Muddy have some closing words and then start another thread. "The season is over and let the braggin begin" JK or "Free agency is in view and the money is flyin" (mostly from the Yankees)

I like the split ring but it can be annoying because of what Avid said, it jams. Some of mine jam a lot and some dont at all. I havent gotten to try the Rad version a lot so I dont know how it compares in the long run. Besides having the collest name, the booyah boogie bait is very good also. The leverage hook is pretty cool and works.

One thing i picked up from the pick that was mentioned in the article was that Kenny Rogers has very hairy forearms.

Almost pulled it off. Cards do sure like rallying against closers. I dont think it matters whether or not the pine tar helped him he should be suspended anyway. Remember when Julian Tavarez got thrown out and suspended for having a foreign substance on his hand, he threw his hat into the stands so they never knew whether it was pine tar or dirt. They should suspend Rogers for this to. A TV station got the hat from the fan that caught it and ran tests on it and found out that the substance was just dirt. If you look at every one of julian taveraz's caps while pitching he has a dirt spot on it. Cards fans, A's fans, and Yankees fans should all want him to be suspended because he had this on his hand through every round of the playoffs. Who knows, it might be the Yankees playing the cards because he had this through every game so far. Check out this pic. The pic on the left is his hand in the ALCS and the pic on the right is his hand in the World series. That is definitely proof right there.

OK I have found one analyst that thinks the cards will win and he is on si.com and i think he put it best "the cards are punting in game one by starting Reyes." I couldnt agree more until he had that amazing outing. Perfect game for the Cards. OOOOOO man only 3 wins away from the first championship in my lifetime.

The owner was probably partially right. If the neighbor had been home with the dog, then the dog probably would have known u were ok but since he was gone he was protecting his territory. I would have just cut the grass tomorrow to.

Pujols better get it going in the world series. How did the cards come back after that catch by Chavez? I think Chavez did better in that series then Floyd would have done. He got to a lot of balls that Floyd would not have gotten to.

I was perfect in the NL and perfectly wrong in the AL. O well Cards are in the ship and i am sticking with the cards in six prediction. *except i bet they beat the tigers instead of the twins
