  1. Welcome to the forum, I think its weird you are bassmasta07 cause I'm bassmasta7, you are 16, I am 16, you live in atlanta, Ga and I live in atlanta, Ga.
  2. With a couple more moves, it could be the next poker.
  3. I definitely agree. I wish Chris Berman would do football games instead of just NFL Countdown. I also like Joe Buck, I think he has gotten better over the years or it might just be because of his Holiday Inn comercials. ;D
  4. Haha yeah I was watching when he said "Their going for it on 4th down." That I think was the start of my dislike. Dick Vermeil was very knowledgeable but obviously he was sick on Saturday and had completely lost his voice by the end of the first half. Gumbel often disagreed with some of Jim Mora's calls when Vermeil was agreeing with them. Those times you need to led the former great head coach do that commentary since he has the experience. They have a lot of stuff left to work out at the NFL Network. They need to make some changes otherwise it wont last. But they do have a monopoly on Thursday and Saturday night football so I will have to keep watching.
  5. Apparently, the NFL Network is doing it and the Thursday night games, so the cable customers will complain to their cable company and will eventually put it on basic cable. I have satellite so I have it. Bryant Gumble may be the worst sports announcer that I have ever heard. He was mispronouncing everyones names constantly and didnt appear to have a great knowledge of football. Michael Jenkins- Jennings Justin Griffith- Griffin And he did this with a lot of players without even recognizing his mistake.
  6. With Allen Iverson now getting traded, I think we should all reflect on his famous "We talkin bout practice" speech. It just shows how lazy and arrogant some athletes are. But, I cant help but laugh every time I watch it. I wish the Denver Nuggets the best of luck.
  7. 5in. Senko (preferably watermelon)
  8. I read Sowbelly over the summer, great book! Im not a big reader but it was so good it only took me a day. I also read Ike's book, Fishing on the Edge. It wasnt as good as Sowbelly but it was still good. There were just some parts it sounded like he was just complaining and those parts were kind of lame.
  9. If any of you cards fans got to go to a game this year, then you know how much money the organization should have. The tickets are ridiculously high in price. They are second to Red sox. All concessions were bumped up. Usually my dad and I get to go to a couple Cards games a year (since i live in ATL) but this year we could go to one. Luckily we used the prime seat club and got tickets like 6 rows behind homeplate. They werent much more than tickets about a mile away. Let's go cards ownership, give Walt some money to play with. We should have gotten Jason Schmidt. Keep in mind though that Chris Carpenter was one of those players that was undervalued and injured so the cards picked him up cheap and then he became cy young winner with Duncan. But once i would like to have one big FA aquisition. Cubs also signed Marquis to a 3 year deal. (haha suckers)
  10. A good addition to bolster the Cards bullpen, Cards signed Russ Springer who had an e.r.a. under 4 last year in solid relief for the Houston Astros. Not to mention, he is the only person who hates Bonds as much as me. He has faced Bonds like twice in the last four years and he has intentionally hit him both times. He did it this year but it took him 5 pitches. He was ejected and received a standing ovation. He then moved up to the top of my favorite players list.
  11. Good news for the Cards... Jocketty doesnt want him. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20061207&content_id=1753614&vkey=hotstove2006&fext=.jsp
  12. I think the cards could definitely put together an offer for Crawford. I would be willing to give up Wainwright for him. Someone needs to take Crawford away from the Rays because he is just wasting away down there without anyone getting to see him play. I really dont want Suppan back esp. if we have to pay more than 5 mill per year. I was going to post about Buehrle in my previous post but it seams the Sox are only willing to trade Freddy Garcia and Vazquez. The sox were actually mad at buehrle for talking about how he wanted to go to STL. I think he was supposed to be a free agent next year but they gave him an extension. I think he is a possibility. I think walt could put together another good package with prospects, Duncan, and maybe Wainwright. I think the Braves are very interested in Baldelli. They are shopping Giles right now and Adam Laroche, one of my least favorite players. Laroche I think had 30 HR last year. Sell high. I dont see Andruw leaving the Braves, I think they will give him an extension within the next year. He could bring in a ton of money. Glavine is going back to the Mets. I think the Cards will make a big move during these winter meetings along with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Miny at Disney World.
  13. NO WAY!!! If the Cards sign Bonds I would completely disown the team. Since I live in ATL, I guess I could be come a Braves fan. :-[ I highly doubt the Cards will sign Bonds, but the idea makes me sick. I cant wait to tell my dad that. He has hated Bonds since before he took steriods, back when he was just an a** hole. Man I was really hoping to get Schmidt. He is great and would be even better in STL. He is the opposite of Bonds, he is a good fit in STL. I hope the Cards make a run at Zito. Muddy, dont worry, you will get him, and he is great. He is everything Val said he was not to mention he has already won a Cy Young. I think he won it when he was only like 23 in 2002. nboucher, you are right about the some owners not spending any money. For example, the Royals. The Royals are horrible and havent spent any money in forever. It's not like their owners cant afford it. Afterall the owners own one of the biggest stores in the world, Walmart. And the few Royal fans just keep on supporting their team even though the owners arent. They are just pocketing the money and using the team as an investment and a business to make money. The Yankees make the most money from their franchise, then George Steinbreiner puts the money back into the team because he wants to win. If the Cards are lookin to fill in that spot in left, I would look no further than one of the fastest players in the league, Carl Crawford. He would be a perfect fit. They could trade Duncan and maybe some prospects to Tampa Bay and that would be a pretty impressive package. I havent heard the Cards name in these talks but I would not be surprised if Walt tried to make it happen.
  14. This is interesting and doesnt sound to good to me. [ftp]http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2687475[/ftp]
  15. Theo Epstein doesnt usually make a lot of highly rated free agent signings but when he does they almost always produce for him. Yay, my favorite player on my least favorite team. I do think Epstein made a mistake on Drew. My guess is that he plays 3 years for the sox then they trade him or something. He is a bad fit in Boston. Of those three years he wont be completely healthy for 1.
  16. If Suppan is smart, he will go out there and get that money. It will be a lot more than he is worth. His value has never been higher and I think he will go get that money. That's fine, the cards can find someone else. I am interested in what is going on with Mark Mulder. My guess is he will sign a cheap 1 year deal to prove he still has it and then next year he will get a gigantic salary. I think Minaya has done a great job with the mets in such little time. I think their previous GM was Steve Phillips. I think he was pretty bad. He had a couple good years but I dont think that was really with his guys. Then he made some horrible free agent pick ups, Mo Vaughn and Roberto Alomar. The guys were always hurt and didnt play great when they were healthy. Who do you guys think the top GMs are in baseball. 1. John Shuerholz- Braves GM 2. Terry Ryan- Twins GM (i'll admit I had to look his name up) 3. Walt Jockety- Cards GM 4. Billy Beane- A's GM 5. Theo Epstein- Red Sox GM
  17. OK muddy, we will resign Soup and trade him for Pedro. I wish you were the Mets GM.
  18. I am not a big jeff suppan fan. He has not pitched great for the Cards except the second half of this season and the playoffs. He will get a way too high contract for some team that is so desperate for pitching that they will spend a lot for a little. (teams like the rangers esp. if they dont get zito) I cant stand bonds, I wish he would just retire and get it over with. I think the Cards will get one of those great tiger cubs in a couple years and mess him up like they did with Weaver.
  19. Sorry Risk, you now wont be able to buy Carp for at least 6 more years because he signed a 5 year extension worth about $65 million. What a Deal!!! $13 Mill for the best pitcher in the NL.
  20. I might have to check it out one of these days when i dont feel like getting the boat out. I just mapquested it and it is only about 35 min. from my house.
  21. Yeah, I've only seen up to 7in. and that is gigantic.
  22. What he said. What they said.
  23. Hey Rolo, Where's Butner pond?
  24. "I'm not superstitious 'cause that's bad luck" Well I dont call what i am being SUPERstitious, I more of just stitious. I dont have any superstitions fishing wise but I was a baseball player for 11 years so i had a couple baseball superstitions. I have a couple superstitions when watching the Cardinals on TV. Im going to tray and list some of them. If Jeff Suppan is pitching I must change the channel every half inning so I dont watch him pitch. I had a red Cardinals wristband that I took off only twice last year. (It was to pitch in a baseball game and since i took it off they lost in the playoffs last year) When I need a rally and am watching the cardinals only in person, I rub my chin until the pitcher steps on the rubber, then I tap my chin until he releases the ball, then I rub my chin again. I have used this in two games and it has worked every single time. I shouldnt even be talking about it. When on a baseball field, never step on the chalk One waggle of my bat then a squat and a pivot then i am ready to hit I hold my breath when the pitcher delivers the ball If a batter is hitting that hasnt gotten a HR all season, make a bet with my dad that he will hit a HR (the batter will then hit a HR because my dad is more unlucky than me) If they bring up a graphic on TV that says a batter hasnt got a hit in like 30 AB's, dont mention it or say he sucks to whoever is listening because he will somehow here you and will be determined to get a hit Never make a bet that your team is going to win because they will then lose and you will be out x dollars That brings me to my next one, bet against your team becuase they will then win the game and you will only lose $5, I am willing to pay for a win For you baseball fans, you may remember the Cards 3 run 9th inning 2 out rally against the astros in the 2005 NLCS. You're welcome. I used the power of the previously mentioned wristband. I just rub it constantly and its magical power comes out. The wristband has since been destroyed because the Cardinals lost the next game. Talking about my superstitions makes that superstition become ineffective. (that is a superstition that will blow your mind if you think about what i just said) These are only some of my superstitions. As you can see baseball games are very stressful to me but in the end it is worth it. Afterall, who won the world series this year??? (dont worry i am not crazy)
