  1. Hey guys, what brand of soft plastic (and bait) do you guys use the most?
  2. you can take a watermelon speed craw and put some "spike it" or something on the claws and catch every bass in the water. Those little things are awesome.
  3. You can always come down south...our water rarely freezes.
  4. man they have some awesome deals this year! Looks like Timmy Horton is coming to the one in Concord Mills. Might have to go check him out.

Atleast it's not slick like the table. #BaldAt29
  6. Figure out what your strengths are dude, and go with it. Mine personally is shallow water. Not to say I cant fish deep, but most of the times, I just choose not to. Obviously if I'm not getting bit shallow, I can go deep but I'll beat the banks to death before I do that. haha Most great anglers are great in one particular area but they are strong enough to get by in others. Look at the elite guys. 9 times out of 10, in tournaments, they fish their strengths. KVD is usually cranking, the Lane bros are usually shallow throwing frogs or flipping, Denny B is usually flipping, A-Mart is usually off shore. Im from the south...I can usually go out and catch fish on the banks pretty much any time of the year and luckily thats what I like to do and what I feel comfortable doing. Im strickly speaking from my point of view, so dont bash me. haha
  7. The last time me and my wife went, I put her a zoom fluke on my small spinning rod and told her.."just throw it out there and twitch it around kinda fast." Next thing I know, she was hollering at me to come over there. I looked and my little spinning rod was bent double. lol When she finally got the fish it, it was a 3.5lb crappie. haha Luckily, her and my 4 year old daughter like to go from time to time but like others have said...it cant be too hot or too cold. Needless to say, when I take her and my daughter out fishing, it usually means my rods stay in the truck. haha
  8. Those NRX rods are awesome! I have an 852C and I love it.
  9. BASS has all of their shows online from like 2007. All of the classics dating back to the first one.
  10. 56 degree water temp, I hope you stayed shallow! How'd you do?
  11. Yea, pegging is a must when fishing heavy cover.
  12. I don't think there's a thing wrong with a man (or woman) keeping a few fish for a meal but I would rather see them keep a few smaller males than a 6 lb female. Throw those big girls back please.
  13. Hey man, these guys are throwing some very useful info your way. Regardless of what you may hear, it's very tough to consistently catch fish all day all year around. You can stay around the banks and probably catch a lot of fish, especially in the spring and even the fall. But, in the summer, you'll have to adjust when the morning bite turns off. Winter time is a totally diff monster. I went out yesterday and the only fish I caught were in a foot of water or less. I had one bite in 20 feet of water in a brush pile but that was it. Don't be scared to hit some off shore stuff when the bank bite cools off.
  14. Your set up seems okay. I don't use braid but I'm not saying its wrong. Whatever u feel comfortable with. Just remember to drag the weight. I try to always stay in contact with the bottom. My personal pref on weights depends on the wind. I'll go up to an ounce if the wind is blowing. When I feel a tap, I drop my rid and give it slack. Then slowly raise it up...any tension at all, and I lay the steel to it. My normal jerk style is at about 2:00 so it works for me. Again, these are preferences for me. I'm not saying they are 100% correct.
  15. I hope it is...I think that will give my buddy Aaron a better chance to win. He always does well in tough tournaments. If he makes it to the super six, I'm taking a road trip to OK. haha
  16. gotta go with the big stuff. Im not much on the mojo's, but whatever you get, make sure it's got the power to get them out of there.
  17. yeah...what ^^ said. It's all about water temp.
  18. oh i got ya...yeah i havent talked to him in a couple of months. I hope he does well...
  19. yeah, I dont know how it would do casting. Maybe in open water it would work, but around docks or something I cant see it working out too well.
  20. Hey guys, I recently started using 10lb braid with a 7lb floro leader on my spinning reel when throwing a shakey head. I usually use a uni knot to tie the two together, but I saw an article online where a pro was using a small swivle to tie his together. I might add that he was using it for drop shotting, but do yall think it would be good to try with a shakey head?
  21. I dont think Marty moved to Grand Lake. As far as I know,he still lives here in Spartanburg SC
  22. Whats up guys...I wrote a post the other day about me helping out with a March of Dimes tournament and that I was going to try to get a few fishing things donated for us to raffle off and if by chance we got some bigger items (rods or reels) we were going to give them to the winners of the tournament. I'm not having any luck at all. If by chance any of you guys have anything you would like to donate (baits, tackle boxes, shirts, hats, rods, reels etc) I would be greatly appreciated. I'm not asking you to go out and buy stuff to send. Just if you have any either new or slightly used stuff laying around that you dont use, we'd be greatly appreciated. I know times are hard, so if you dont have anything to spare, we completely understand. Thanks guys!
  23. Im in on the BASS if you have one...
  24. A-Mart will catch them every day...i just hope he's on the right size. #GoAmart
