  1. Say i was going to buy the older shimano cumara rod right now, if i was fishing and it happened to break anytime in the near future would i get the exact replacement or the new 2013 rod ? Random question, just curious...
  2. I already have my eye on the 7'2 medium, maybe for christmas
  3. Dont get me wrong, dobyns are awesome rods, i have a champion and coalition, i just think the m1 is a better rod at a lower price. Had it out for a bit today throwing dropshots, 10lb power pro, 6lb flouro leader. Threw some 4.5 roboworms which is my usual worm, sensitivity is amazing. Could feel the bottom with no problem. Definitely keeping the fuego on this rod, this combo is about 10oz's
  4. I agree with francho, my two go to reels are a stradic fj1000 and daiwa fuego 1000a, both have 10lb power pro and have brought 5-6lb bass in without a problem.
  5. I havent had the opportunity to try out a recon, no one carries phenix in my area. I was taking a chance on the m1, and happy that i did. I go through phases where i like to downsize, or switch my reels around on rods, lol. Might throw my ci4 or stradic fj on the m1 to see what feels the best.
  6. I havent bought any used gear yet, but ive sold a decent amount of rods/reels because i baby my gear. I know the buyer will be happy. I wouldnt hesitate to buyed used jdm gear cause thats the only way im going to afford it, lol.
  7. Id go with the 2000, its over an ounce lighter.
  8. Got out for a bit, i have a lake down the road. It was 35 out and raining so i made it quick. Rod is super nice, loads great, just had a little 1/4oz lipless crank on, threw it a mile. Sensitivity is amazing. This is one of those rods that i truly think you get more than what you pay for. Seriously considering selling my two dobyns to get another m1. My only other rod i have that i would never sell, and also feel like you get more than what you pay for is my 6'3 fenwick smallmouth rod. I broke down two of my rods to compare weights with the m1. A 6'3 medium elite tech smallmouth, 6'8 medium light dobyns champion, and the 6'9 light m1. The dobyns was the heaviest, the smallmouth second, and the m1 the lightest. Tomm is going to be nice out so ill be playing with the dropshot and 3-4 inch senkos...
  9. Just got my rod in today. Its awesome. the reel seat is very comfortable and looks amazing. The carbon fiber is awesome. The 6'9 light is exactly what i was looking for, its super light and balances perfectly with my daiwa fuego 1000a. Cant wait to get out tomm and try it out even though were supposed to get snow :x Havnt fished it yet, but just on looks and build quality its highly recommended
  10. Im a topwater nut and love fishing walk the dog baits. I like covering alot of water and seeing topwater explosions But, i made it a goal this year to practice dropshot fishing and got pretty confident with it, im actually almost enjoying it as much as topwater. Next year is jigs, lol.
  11. Or you could just have fun catching one fish at a time,
  12. i was following the thread on tackletour about the m1 rods. Bit the bullet and got the 6'9 light spinning rod from tw with the 20% off. I cant want for it to come in so i can compare it too my dobyns champion 682. I want a good dropshot rod, hope it works out...
  13. Im not much of a jig fishermen, but i just picked up some 5/32 keitech finesse jigs that look pretty d**n good.
  14. Im in south jersey and its been super slow. Its feels like there never was a fall bite and skipped right into winter mode. Last year the bite was hot till christmas, i was catching bass and pickerel on topwater till december. Ive been out a few times a week and have been getting the skunk. Ive been trout fishing just to catch some fish, lol. And ive tried everything, lipless cranks, spinnerbaits, topwater, dropshot, cranks, jerkbaits. I just bought some finesse jigs, gonna try them and possibly tubes. I know some guys around here have been using crappie jigs under bobbers and doing pretty well with crappie and bass...
  15. For dropshot - Roboworm 4-1/2 straight worm, my favorite colors are mean green, junebug/chart. tail, and morning dawn/chart. tail. My other pick would be, Wave worms super soft pro in watermelon/red flake
  16. dropshot or topwater, especially walk the dog baits
  17. Im in south jersey and the topwater bite has completely slowed down for me. Last year i was getting bass to hit topwater into december...
  18. Heres two good buys http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shimano-Stradic-ST1000FJ-Spin-Reel-5-1BB-6-0-1-4lb-140yds-ST1000FJ-/190745972096?forcev4exp=true&forceRpt=true#ht_1274wt_952 http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Shimano-Stradic-CI4-1000-6-0-1-Spinning-Fishing-Reel-STCI41000F-NIB-/300682602545?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4602146831
  19. Go on TW, and check out there baitcasting rods on sale, they have some good stuff. Hit ebay, you can get a lews tourney pro for like $150. Should be able to get a nice combo in the $300 range.
  20. The orra s isnt a bad reel, but if i was working with $100 bucks id save 30 more and get a stradic 1000 fj on ebay. I picked mine up on ebay brand new at $130 and love this reel. I had the pflueger arbor. didnt think it was anything worth writing home about, so i started using it for saltwater then sold it. I really dont like any of the pflueger reels, with spinning reels you really cant go wrong with the shimanos, from the sahara and up, and daiwas. Good luck
  21. Two of my favorite smaller reels i use is my 500 sedona and 1000 stradic fj. I use the 500 for trout and panfish, the stradic for bass, but it can do both. Whats your budget ?
  22. Braid with flouro leader, think it gives you the best of both worlds...
  23. I usually keep all my gear in the car, 4 rods and lots of tackle. But if im going into philly or anywhere shady it comes out, lol.
  24. I go through cycles, sometimes ill throw a crank but mostly topwater or jerkbaits. Topwater is my favorite fishing, if i cant get a bite, next move for me is jerkbaits.
  25. The fred arbogast flyrod hula poppers, throw one on the ultralight rod and can usually guarantee a nice bass.
