Strike King Lures Falling Apart
Contact Peggy Coletta @SK. I contacted her about crankbait issues as well. Not only did they replace the bad one, they sent an extra with decals and a catalog. Also don't throw the bad ones away as she will ask you to send them in. pcoletta@strikeking.com

My Hat's Off To Big-O
Big-O is a very classy guy. He's one of the true ambassadors of fishing. Ragetails are great soft plastics. As a matter of fact they are pretty much all of the soft plastics I use anymore other than Senkos and Swing Impacts.

Quality Over Quantity
I agree. Buying quality the First Time is almost always cheaper in the long run. Plus they're made of better materials and tighter tolerances. Most people myself included don't get out as much as we would like. So I place a premium on reliability, and less headaches so that I can fish more. However I'm not saying that everyone needs to buy GLoomis rods, Megabass baits and Shimano Core reels, you don't have to. It's a buyers market these days. Most companies are making great rods and reels in the $100 mark. In hard baits there's plenty of value w/o buying Megabass. Buy the Best Quality that you can afford or save for. Keep a look out in the classifieds here and other places as well. I've seen plenty of barely used or new going for a fraction of the original prices.

Just A Suggestion
Soft Plastic: Black/Blue & Green Pumpkin Any and all water conditions Hard Baits: Bluegill in any water conditions Shad in clear to stained any weather Blue or Black back Chartreuse in staines to muddy water. For me I just keep it simple. To me locating bass in structure and cover and presentation are way more important than color. jmho

Baitcasting For The Beginner
Lately, there has been many questions regarding buying a first baitcasting set up, to what line to use etc. So here's some answers for those beginners looking for help: When buying your first baitcaster buy the best that you can afford. It will make your experience more enjoyable, less frustrating and shorten the learning curve. Rods: Understanding rod power and tip speed read this:http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/rod-actions-power.html Now, most fishing can be done with 2 combos. 1) 6'6-7', MH Power, Fast/Extra Fast Tip for Soft Plastics, Spinnerbaits, Most Single Hook lures. 2) 6'6-7' M Power, Medium Tip for Treble hook lures Reel: Look for a reel with in the 6.4:1 ratio. That's your all around ratio for most fishing. Shimano, Abu Garcia, BPS Pro Qualifier,Lew's, Daiwa etc all make great reels just buy the best that you can afford. Line: Your basic all around performer is 12# test. You'll want to buy an affordable line at first such as Yo-Zuri Hybrid or another mono/copoly. Setting up your baitcaster: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/adjust-baitcasting-baitcaster.html. This is a great video by Glenn. Finally, have some patience. Birdsnests will happen, even KVD has some. Practice, Practice, Practice!!!

Ragetail Products & Rigging
As far as hooks go use what you like. However when keel weighting, the preferred hook will be the Moaner Stroker 1/4 oz weighted. Big O ( for those that don't know creates the Ragetail product line) had input on the Stroker hook design.

Wanting A New Setup
What else other than senkos do you plan on using? Reason I ask is soft plastics/jigs use one type of rod while treble hooked baits use another type of rod. For $200 you couldn't go wrong with a BPS Pro Qualifier reel at $100 and they are often on sale cheaper. Rod is gonna depend on bait selections. For line 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Sufix Elite.
