  1. thanks, guys, not to sound dumb but in the pic of the abover map, the darker the blue is, the deeper it is, so those lines showing around, would be the drop offs or the underwater humps.. also the pontoon we got, does have like a lowrance, 22, lol its screen is the size of my inner palm, it is in B&W, it only shows deph, no structure and I do see fish, not sure what kind, since they all look the same. I try to go to options on the screen, but everytime i do it goes blank, not a battery problem, just a POS problem, lol the owner said he never took it inside and well the elments over the year must a beat it down.. last quickie, if i am watching the deph rise super quick, then drop, Does than indicate a hump, i could crank or use a football head over. As a shore man, i looked at any lay down as a hot spot, but now i feel i have some choices.I will get me a lake map today
  2. so off the shore and fishing wild, so of course i know laydowns, but what do i really look for, I figured a fresh down tree hasnt had time to draw them, I look at a row of maybe 7 downed trees with no big branches just straight trees, there maybe limbs under the water, i cant see. Any tips will do, i have no electronics, i get common things like weedlines and the normal stuff. Just a few hints that can get me some sucess. Also what advantages does a lake map have. I mean does it show depths or somthing
  3. hey, your boat aint bad. the way the shore fishing was going i was gonna eventually get some stryofoam and a door, i am not compaling, hope i get a good hang of it, probabably be after the rest of the family gets over the "newness" of it. lol
  4. so I am finally getting off the shore, my family has just bought a pontoon, not the great bass fishing boat in the world, but it gets I disagree off the shore. I was in class when my Aunt picked it up, i came with a trolling motor, SO without me having anyone to show me how.. how do you operate one, i asked my Aunt if he gave the paper work and he didnt, Is it really just dropping it the water and pressing the foot pedal, the all have foot pedals right, I didnt ask her what kind it was..
  5. Had a local pro say, push a hook into a piece of 2x4 I think he was just Pulling my leg
  6. yea if i get lucky on hickory, its usally watermelon, at nigh june bug/bama bug or a black trick worm
  7. i thought it was an improvement, but i think i will stick with the moderate, may just get anoter premier, if they make em in the 7'10 range, i wanna stick to 100-140
  8. GOOD news. family is thinking of getting a pontoon, well not the greatest bass boat,, but it moves my @ss off the shore. I always said that if i can get off shore, i want to be a great crankbait fisherman. I have a croix Premier 7' MH moderate with a citica i like, only caught a few off of it though, thus why i want to learn and think getting off the shore will get me a better chance to learn and fish structure better.( maybe it is monkey talking! but id like to get 2 setups so i can swiitch lures quicker and a longer rod will help me to get down deep) I know the debate of glass, graphite, then there is the mix of both; though at this point in the game, i was lookin at the bps catalogue and it says i can pair a crankin stik with a winch and get a discount. I was always told that moderate was the way to go. Anyone want to voocie their opnions. i plan to get the 7'10 MH rod if that helps.
  9. sellus all the way, best rod under 100, have the 6'8 for spinnerbaits
  10. once my posters, are paid for this month, i may take that up, i cant find swim jig colors i like in stores
  11. just wondering. froggin and pitchen are my favorite, so how many ya own and what are they and or paird with. I have a daiwa ballistic 7'4 with an quantium PT and an Old school american made all-star rod 7'6 rod with a bps PQ. I mainly fish from shore and doubt i need two, but i like to have a creature and a regular jig rigged at all times... heck i am sure the florida boys have more. Seen a vid with Bobby Lane and i beleive he says he has 6.
  12. 2 of the plano flipsider things, easy to flip to the rows, each row has a color and is lined up according to size..
  13. when i fish for cats, i run joe flies threw the bed to get em bait, i dont feel bad, the ponds i fish, for fun one day, i counted 63 beds, gill on all except 17, plus all the gills swimming around, thats why this pond has tons of 20 plus channels
  14. i was told gills and vem.sunfish will spawn all summer, in the pond i fish the bank is littered with them, somtimes big bass ****** em off bed, lol i was messin with a gil on a bed yesterday and it picked my swim jig up and spit it out of its bed, quite funny
  15. nice pics, congrats
  16. i love mine, next best thing in bps brand under PQ
  17. hey not to highjack but for berkley 12 inch, would you still stick to 5/0, i didnt wanna make a thread with a question so close as this.
  18. I double mine as top water, I change my reels though. I use 7:3.1 top. People say reel slow, but it is easy to reel slow though it is too easier to accidentally reel to fast IMO So I always go down to a 6 gear for jerks
  19. Hey op let us know what ya ended up worh
  20. buzzfrog replied to Stouty's topic in Fishing Tackle
lol we gotta make a frog sticky like the senko FAQ. to me, i mostly throw everything, at this very moment, i throe green.yellow and black.. those are staples to me.. now the gill colors are showing me they can be great aswell. I say this all the time, IMO if bass are hitting topwater or your throwing into pads, i think color doesnt matter and just so i can see the frog, i will throgh the spro halloween color(bright orange). i catch em on that. on line again, IMO it doesnt matter i use hi vis yellow Ppro and do well. Disclaimer--- green and black always will work, NOW i have heard and seen some fisherman not getting anything on white, but throw the white with a bit of orange, they tear em up, somthimes fish are fish.
  21. I thought that is what we were doing?
  22. either on is good man, the extreme setup or the PQ with the sellus, to me the Sellus is probably the best rod under 100 bucks
