  1. Magic Craw Reaction Innovations Beaver 4/0 Gammy flipping hook.
  2. FC can be used as a topwater line but it is the worst tool for the job. It does have a hindrance on imparting action onto a bait. It wont sink your bait but your line will sink which in turn makes working spook type baits difficult. I'd rather use mono for both topwater/jerkbaits than fluoro for both. I'll be the first to say I'll use fluoro for anything but I'd rather punch /w fluoro than use it as a topwater line.
  3. savvy 735 Tatula 7:3 65# braid
  4. If possible, make sure you can at least handle the LTB rod. The rods fish pretty good but the SK2 reel seat is hands down the most uncomfortable thing I've ever used. Some like it though.
  5. This is exactly right. A frog can be walked identically to a spook but requires a different movement.
  6. Mono. Braid works just as well for top water baits. I just personally prefer using mono it works for me and it hasn't failed me yet. I've use bread for top water and it worked fine I just personally don't care for it
  7. If your cranking in a tightline then braid will give you more feel. If you are bumping into cover and letting the line go slack when killing it, fluoro will have more feel as braid has no feel on a slack line . Braid is also the last line i would personally use for cranking.
  8. I use straight fluorocarbon for everything except topwaters, punching and frogging. You get what you pay for /w fluorocarbon. Cheap fluoro will turn anybody away. i have zero issues /w handling, memory, etc but I use higher fluorocarbons and treat my lines /w KVD line and lure and use. sunline shooter, fc sniper, seaguar tatsu. Most of my usage is in the 15-20# range /w more in the 20# than anything. i use 6-7# on spinning set ups. I very much prefer the hard, dense fluorocarbons for abrasion resistance and sensitivity. I do not like InvizX. It handless great but it's like fishing /w a rubber band. Use line conditioner to combat memory issues. I can't remember the last time I've even seen line twist using fluoro except on a spinning set up. The main reason I use it is for its slack line sensitivity and abrasion resistance. I pitch and flip a lot so feeling/seeing bites on a slack line is paramount. Nothing beats braid in the sensitivity department on a tight line. Braid has zero sensitivity on a slack line.(that isn't an opinion, it's a fact) It also creates a bow in your line thus creating drag /w its floating properties on top of the water on a long cast. Some people like this and feel they can see the line tick. I hate it. I much prefer the dense, sinking properties that allow me to feel more on a slack line. The waters I fish have an abundance of zerbra muscles everywhere. While nothing is that great /w zebra muscles, fluoro is the best I've found to combat it. The rocks and zebra muscles make fishing /w braid like fishing /w dental floss. They just tear it up. You don't have to use fluorocarbons. If braid is your thing, just keep using it unless you're ready to pay the higher prices for premium fluorocarbons.
  9. Often times a fish will strike a swim jig multiple times without actually taking the bait. the best hook set for a swim jig is to continue to reel until you feel the weight of the fish and just pull into it.
  10. Davenport. They weren't on the clearance end caps. Just stuffed onto pegs. I got them all. . They do have some nice deals left though on plastics.
  11. I don't know. I wasn't even aware Gander sold 1 1/2oz tungsten weights. They were stuffed onto a peg near the hooks /w a 6.97 tag on them but rang up 4.97.
  12. Just bought the last five 1 1/2oz tungsten weights for 4.97 each and four 1oz for 5.97...xmas came early!
  13. Sometimea you just gotta take home that pro qualifer bro
  14. I use braid for punching and frogs. Everything else is fluorocarbon(topwaters get mono). I do not enjoy using braid but I understand it's benefits.
  15. His review was pretty spot on. He did sprinkle in a little subjective nonsense that he should have known better to include but he did a pretty fair job of the reel. I'll never understand the TT scoring system. deduct points for not having a reel bag included on a 99$ reel..come on...The silly "it doesn't palm well to me" scoring deduction. Spoiler alert..we don't all have the same size hands. I personally feel the reel palms amazingly well. Kind of a silly opinion based score. If this score was based on his own personal preferences and scoring system then I'm off base and apologize but I don't believe that to be true. It should have been graded higher if it were in a class of 100$ reels but if the scoring is based upon a scale of every reel, there's no way that reel should have even scored a 5. Aside from that, his review was pretty good.

Yes. It's been in the making for a few years now. Lots of set backs that are out of his (gary) control.
  17. Markers for me. My plastics don't last long enough for me to care if the dye lasts a long time. No idea if the scent works or not. I use megastrike if I want scent.
  18. couldn't have said it better.
  19. There are many retailers that have sales on st. Croix rods.. Dicks sporting goods, albeit a fluke, if you can still find them there, was selling them for less than 100$. Cabelas sold mojos/avids/ltb, etc for a very big discount last year as well. As for right now, you will probably have to wait until the 4th of July sales or Call Ron.
  20. YOUR 704 STANDS NO CHANCE!!!
  21. Probably fish the same or close to the same pools you do. (I frequent 9-12) 14# siege gets tore up quick on the river's rock/zebra muscles despite it being "abrasion resistant". If you want to go cheap mono, go pline CXXBerkley Big game /w line conditioner. CXX is tough as nails.. Other end of the spectrum...I went /w 15# tatsu as it was on sale over the winter for half price Great line and has some of the best abrasion resistance I've found for the zebra muscles. Constantly checking and retying is just part of the game this time of year on the river.
