Yes, they would be fine to simply texas rig. they aren't very durable though being handpoured. TW reviews, or any reviews for that matter, must be taken /w a grain of salt.most of the time it's jumbled nonsense. they float.

I said i prefer xf. Everything i own is dobyns except for the topwater rod. They dont make a 68mxf or i would get it. If you are dead set on the champ cb and under 7', the 685 would work.

I'm a big advocate on a moderate action for crankbaits but not for topwaters. I prefer an XF tip for topwaters. It allows you to work the bait more efficiently and accurately. the 685 would be a good stick for your walking type baits and larger poppers. may be a little rough tossing smaller 1/4oz poppers but it will get you by. the 68X is 6'8, not 6'10 btw.

that's gonna be rough....especially if your partner is fishing deep on okoboji. dont drink coffee or bring one of those minnow buckets /w seat/lid. I've never seen anybody do that but always thought there was an alternative use to those things.

Trailer brakes. Get em'. I'm more worried about stopping than the actual towing.I can't imagine the towing being an issue for you though.

As stated before, not all bearings have the removable shield. I've found the best way to remove the c-clip on the bearings was using either a)new exact o-knife blade or lightwire trokar hook. the first bearing is always the worst trying to figure it out but after that they get easy to take off. I've never felt the need to remove the shields in shimanos bearings. I can get those things super clean. daiwa stock bearings however, i remove the shields on all of them because they seem to be more troublesome...especially the drive shaft bearing. it always takes multiple cleanings during the initial cleaning to get the daiwas clean but after that they are flat out just awesome. I switched from acetone to (per franchos advice) 50/50 mix of Perfect Solution and hot water. I let them sit the same as you, while i'm at work, and then (this step i've found is a must) rinse them /w boiling hot water, spin test, dry. it's spooky how well this product cleans bearings.

Green pumpkin /w blue, orange, maybe purple and a few strands of chartreuse (bluegill...) excels so well in stained water. any water for that matter..as long as it isn't mud.

I would throw bluegill regardless of water clarity. Especially if its the primary forage

Cast the swim jig out. While retrieving, hold the rod around 11' oclock and shake the jig while reeling at the same time. What you are doing is keeping the jig in spot in the water column and its barely moving forward while the skirt flares and the trailer works. Think of holding the bait in front of a fishes face and just bouncing it up and down almost cat and mouse like. Same concept except you are reeling it in at the same time

1/4oz swim jig Subwoofet, paca craw, or rage craw trailer Color: blue gill, black/purple/blue, white/gold Retrieve at a slow to moderate pace and pump the rod slightly to keep it in the strike zone but stop it at the same time. Almost like dangling it. If theres cover anywhete, even in 6 inches of water, smack that swim jig in it. Throw it in pads, grass and rip it through. As the water gets warmer, speed up the retrieve if you want They more times than not hook themselves so just lean into it.

Not as well, but yes. Strictly saying "mono vs fluoro" is never comparing apples to apples. I wouldn't recommend going out any buying something like Trilene XL and hoping for the slack line feel of say Sunline Shooter. Theres certain monos out there that excel at that area more so than others.

I like using 1/16 and 1/8 weights /w senkos. 1/8 shakey head is my go to size.

I dont' use braided line at all except for slop so I cannot comment on feeling the line /w braided line and bottom contact oriented presentations. I can tell you though that if you were using fluorocarbon line, you would understand it. Due to fluorocarbons density and it's superior slack line sensitivity, (i'm sure you are aware, braid doesnt have any feel on a slack line) you can feel those tiny ticks or bumps or any thing "different" through your finger tips on the line.

I'm not sure if the price has anything to do /w Paul Mueller getting second int he classic using the line or if it's always been that price. I did get a spool at an expo this winter for really cheap that I still haven't used. I do use Tatsu though. It's just flat out awesome line.

I used it a couple years ago. I had a terrible problem /w the abrasion resistance in 12 and 17# test. Not as bad as say Red Label but still wasn't great on rocks and docks. Aside from that though, I did like the line.

I bring all my rods/reels inside. Tackle just stays locked in the boat. I spend thousands of dollars on rods/reels/line. I'm okay /w taking an extra 2 trips and 5 min of my day to bring my stuff inside. Plus, I have a reason to toy /w them if they are insie.

I have no idea where to start with which question but for the intended techniques, get a 3 power. If the 733 is pushing the limits, the 703 would be fine. there isn't a different in taper. As you go down in series (DX down to savvy) the tapers get slower in their respective counterparts. i.e 743->733->733. Not much slower but once you use all the series of rods in the same power, you will see the difference and, personally, I feel that's a good thing. Get the DX703 never used the 701 never used the 682. a 3 power casting rod is more equivalent to a 2 power spinning rod..most of the time..if that makes sense.

I have both. Id try and hold the tatula before you buy it. Its frame isnt for everyone. I like it. I prefer the t3 platform though.
